I was talking to my local gamestore owner the other day, and he asked me if I was planning on joining our upcoming Old World Tournament. (I’ve been to the last two 40k tournaments) I told him I didn’t have any Old World models, but the moment they start selling the Empire of Man models I’d be all over it. He replied that he would make sure I knew the moment their were for sale 😂
I think they are pretty much Auto include BUT depending on your meta you might get away with swapping the Stank for 2 units of Demigryphs or 1cannon and 1 demigryph.
Hellblasters always been one of the top in every edition, 6th and 7th it could annihilat entire regiments in one turn, 8th ed took a bit longer but still did the business.
I have a love/hate relationship with the steam tank. It's a cool model, its great on the tabletop, but having them be "auto-include" really makes it over-represented on the tabletop. I'm already seeing them in EVERY Empire army... again. They are supposed to be rare, not a used Toyota. I own 2, but I'm going to scratch build a war wagon and have that "count as" a steam tank. With Empire Infantry being meh, and cavalry being a more mobile anvil, I think that is the best solution. I want more Pike and shot in my Empire, with a smattering of crazy clockwork technology, not full steampunk. Steampunk is it's own aesthetic and does not fit into the Warhammer universe, IMHO. I would love to see the return of Dogs of War, or even IMPERIAL Pikemen. (like the fiction. In 8th it was easy to represent them rules-wise with a Spearmen Horde) edit: Warwagon pulled by Demigryphs might be the way to go...
Imo irondrakes are the best unit.. They are so strong it's silly. Range 18", quick to fire str 5, ap -1 + warden with trollhammer torpedo which is basically a canon with range 24". 5 groups of 5 on 2000p. So for 500p you get 5 slightly weaker canons and 20 drakegunners (with full plate armor ofc - because why not). I get salty even writing about it but as an empire player i don't see what to do against them because besides them there is a king with 8 wounds in a block of hammerers. So can't outshoot them and can't charge them. Anyone having an idea how to deal with abusive, short, hairy, wan*ers?
dwarves are slow, bring a fast list with plently of knights and choose your fights, charge the gunners and ignore the hammerers. bring a level 4 wizard on a pegasus or horse with a ruby ring as well and out magic them
I NEED them to start selling Empire of Man models again

Why stop at one? Send in the Franzer Division!
Great vid like always. Gonna pull the trigger on a steam tank for my old world Empire force
The real question: How does it reload? Have the colleges invented breech-loaded canon?
yes

They are the Panzer elite
As an AOS player, is this version that different? Could I play it with my army from AOS? Steam tanks are in both versions after all
Its the same modell. But rules are obviously completly different
First!
I will say as a bretonian they are the only thing that I don't have an easy answer for, in the entire game.
yeah. Since Virtue of Heroism is not killing steam tanks anymore. Super annoying.
