Thelma Houston has one of the most unique voices in soul music - which she displays so wonderfully in "Jumpin' Jack Flash" - you'll never hear any voices like Thelma's.
Thelma 's SUNSHOWER album produced/written by JIMMY WEBB .is magical and is far superior to THE SUPREMES Jimmy Webb 1973 album that I was always felt failed dismally..Darlene Love was even brought in to top up the vocals which greatly upset Mary Wilson.
Wow I didn't know Thelma Houston at this time. I was in grade school doing homework all the time. Fast forward to 1985 and living in San Jose CA. Miss Houston is performing at an event in the park. I was directly in front of the stage I wanted to see her up close. She came out immediately working the crowd gliding across the stage belting one of her tunes. I reached my hand out to her and she grabs it as we gazed into each other's eyes. I was in hog heaven. I'm having flashbacks right now. Good times!
Love to see this version!! Bare feet and afro, so real and natural considering disco was coming with it's own Realness and Freedom expression. Queen of many evolving eras!
Jumping Jack Flash is one of Thelma's best songs ever along with 96 Tears, Black California, and I'm Here Again. She looks great with her Afro hairdo and dress.
booo Thelma Houston es increíble que canta me encantooo su interpretación de Jumping Jack Flash la verdad es hermoso escucharla. GRACIAS POR COMPARTIR!! saludos cordiales desde Uruguay vamo arriba!!!
Sunshower has just been reissued (June 2010) on CD in the UK with 6 (!) bonus tracks. The cover flash claims "The Complete Dunhill Recordings". Go get 'em, Thelma fans!!!
Georgie Fame - he performed at my college in the 1970s, and didn't even play The Ballad of Bonnie and Clyde". I won a a pair of tickets to see him in the 80s, and only my wife's optimistic hope of each next song being half decent, kept me from walking out early. He's still going strong, according to wikipedia. I think The Price of Fame was a short-lived music programme, which he co-hosted with friend, and ex member of The Animals, Alan Price. Am I right?
@LeshaAnn- Sorry, but how UNbelievably ignorant of you to say that! Why "odd"? It was the fashion of the time, you fool! GREATversion of the Rolling StonesCLASSIC tho,eh?
Phenomenal voice, soulful delivery every time. She's so underrated.

She killed it. Her voice is awesome and she knew how to work the crowd too
Themla Houston was hanging!! One of the best singers of the 79's easily. A shame she's only know for one song, she actually has a solid body of work.
the "Bingo Long...etc." closing credits song. You won't be disappointed.

You go Ms. Thelma....2020 and we're still listening.
pretty fuckin awesome...
The host looks baked.lol
Probably is.
Hehe, i saw that too ;)
This performance by Thelma Houston and her artful dancers is a uniquely stylish piece of history.
Maybe the most epic song ever. I wish i could play it louder.
Thelma sings the hell out of this song.

This is a classic cover. Problem is, it goes no further than being a cover. Try Aretha's version. She took rock to church!
Man...she is SMOKIN'!! Woohoo!! K
Excellent first time I've heard this version .😎
Her diction is certainly superior to Mick Jagger's garbled working class British accent.
That's an affectation. Mick Jagger actually came from an upper Class background .
I'd say upper midde class.
And 'is accent is also somewhat coloured by his Aussie mom.
Hmm. Let's compare the level of success between Thelma Houston and Mick Jagger. Uh, Houston we have a problem.
I’m the Biggest Stones fan ever ! I love this!!
Just hearing Thelma’s version here for the first time and she killed it! My God-there’s no one else like her!
Magnificence personified !!!
...those dancers need to ... sit down...
What the white flash going on here.. looking like they having seizures at the same damn time
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😍

she was soo cool! :D 100% freedom, joie and lust for life!
fantastic
Good cover.
that one background singer came in too early at 1:52 AND was flat *facepalm* great performance by thelma though. my favorite version of this song.
My girl Thelma before she was corrupted by Motown! lmao!
Do you think the back-up dancers on the far left had some sort of ideological objection to miniskirts? It looks odd...

The musicians and singers came and went but Pan's People were always beautiful and performed with class.
hahaha love the go go girls....they can barely dance.
glamygirlie it cuz they white biiitches
glamygirlie Who cares about their dancing abilities!
The guitar and everything at 1 minute mark makes me want to move
Oh my !
totally groooovy! great song great voice & great dancing! when chick were chicks eh?
And those dancers are *dancing* the hell out of it!
hahaa where are those dancers now! hey grandma, you sure could jam.
0:58 grey mist and light around backup dancers looks so cool and supernatural and psychedelic. video technology is unbearable to watch now.
Where’s this version been all my life??
This is good, a VERYworthy cover of The Stones CLASSIC.
by 1989 mtv should have been playing videos like this because there were no good ones by 1989.
@glamygirlie Ok glamy get up there and let us see YOU dance
go on girl , give it some.
lots of cool dancing here fast moving but not like someone has neurological damage like they way they dance now.
I agree!
la danseuse brune du fond droite explose tout !
solid
むちゃくちゃ格好良い‼️
no. it's not.
love those pretty blond backup dancers.
Es buenisima !!!
Fab 7" ! Great clip.
Fantastic!
INCREDIBLE...that voice!!!
I prefer Mick Jagger. Her voice is a bit high pitched for my taste.
Thelma ROCKS!!!!!!! Aretha's version pales in comparasion!!!!!!
