Marvin Gaye is an American legend. He was signed to the fledgling Motown label in 1961 by label founder Berry Gordy and scored a total of 39 US Top 40 singles for the label. This was recorded at the Montreux jazz festival in 1980; the full concert is available on the Eagle Vision DVD "Live at Montreux".

There will NEVER EVER be another Marvin Gaye.... The Brother is PURE GENIUS on a SPIRITUAL Level.... ALL of his Music Lyrics TOUCHED your SOUL, if u have a SOUL.... The Music we have Today is PURE GARBAGE.... The Music Today does nothing for your SOUL or SPIRIT in a Positive way...
Love the music but the hair and clothes makes this video golden. Marvin and the Isley Bros are my all time favorites.
Frankie you have brought me through a lif time of love and happiness. You are truly the Greatest...Robert McHenry

PLAYBACK
sai fora quei
and whats not a real music?
@elliot lang that is as stupid answer as it sounds. Such a presumption might be way different to a different person than yourself, so no.
Real art, so pure
There are no words to really describe how his music makes you feel. Is the feeling like you are traveling through space and just looking at the amazing beauty of the sky. I feel this music down to the core of my soul.
Well said and beautiful as this is just how I feel. I loved Marvin from the day I first felt the lyrics of his songs.
I agree. I still get emotional listening to him. He helped form me in my youth. Tore a piece of me out when he died so tragically.
💯 Since the 1st I ever heard anything Marvin as a Kid.
I got to perform as a Grape in a play @ my school in the 3rd grade and We did this Song.
Still a fun memory.
But His Music is Oh My Goodness…..that’s what I think when He comes in. So Great.
1 of A Kind Voice
That voice was a gift!
Pure Cocaine Enlightenment!!! The Golden Era. No cartels,no criminals. Just pure hearted people
Love the way all the musicians are waiting for their mark to come in. Don't come any better boys
Man check that jacket, he wasn't only a music genius, he was a hot stylish man!!! Some elegance!!! Yeah!!!
tamborine ON POINT
and so enthusiastic really can't imagine how much fun it must have been to play live here
okay 4:34 cowbell might be even a level up wowww
He poured his heart and soul to this song (as he always does any other song). He actually went into a trance and the guitar man had to check on him. Marvelous Marvin Gaye
Are you serious?
Sista working those bongos in her sexy matching red dress!
👠 You will always live in spirit and song! Thank you ❣
There are no longer singers like this... RIP Marvin
You are very right
Marvin was original smooth funk. Every live performance was Oscar-, Grammy-and Emmy-worthy! From 'Can I Get a Witness' on up; God rest his soul.
@@CooManTunes God bless you brother. Hope you get well soon!
Someone on here said they did not know how Marvin Gaye died. Now I can't find her but he and his dad had an altercation and his damn dad shot him three times! That's how he died! I love this man's music! Rip Marvin
❤❤
Marvin Gaye was as cool as ice.
I love his music and love to hear him sing my man Marvin miss you see you on the other side
I’ll be turning 65 this next year. Been listening to Marvin for as long as I can remember.
“Something funky is going down!”
Is my new go to phrase
“You could have told me you loved someone else, but I heard it through the grapevine” so true Marvin. Why do cheaters do this? They have the need to emotionally ruin someone
Whoa... Yeah, serious feelings. No doubt.
There are many more cowards than there are people who set out to "emotionally ruin someone." Were there really no clues? Maybe you were a bit of a coward, too; ie, ignored rather than looked reality in the face. Be honest with yourself. Stay strong.
I miss MOTOWN Hits….Wished something very much like it would come around again….that was a lot of talented performers…
Forever Legend Marvin Gaye, great soulman, Amazing ❤❤❤
No technology this was straight up ORGANIC, everything ORGANIC 🔥🔥🔥
Those afros are a thing a beauty not to mention the realness of this entire set 😗💨❤️🔥.
The Greatest Soul Singer Ever
when telephones were telefunky
Funk A Dial
Telefunky
Lol 😂😂😂
they should make a movie about marvin he was a great singer.
They have done a biography which I saw on TV. Was quite good. Didn 't realize just how many problems he had. Growing up with a cross dressing bully of a father who was also a preacher(?) certainly could set you on a crooked path. Yup, the guy who killed him. Gaye, like so many great musicians, couldn't handle his success...or drugs. Saw him perform several times..ALWAYS great till the last time when he dropped his pants on stage after singing Sexual Healing. When you are the sexiest man on the planet you don't need stupid stunts like that. It was very sad. RIP
They should make it
philmatoph they’ve tried. I think at one point Jesse Martin has the role and then Lenny Kravitz. Last year there were rumors that Dr. Dre was going to make a movie. But I don’t know the status at this point.
Did you hear the rumors through the grapevine?
@@brandbird tremendous!
There is no one who can compare to the musical genius of Marvin Gaye. Just the sheer joy of the music, song and his voice..
Prince!
Brings back memories of "Motown Monday" when we would play only Motown 🎶
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hello,how are you
Young people should take his lead
The sadness in Marvin's voice. The interaction in the back up singers timing.
Great stuff.

Just fabulous!! Great voice, great song, great band!!! 👍 🎉
I'm a 37 year old white man from the North of England and I can honestly say my life would be considerably shorter without motown

Ladies and gentlemen, the icon himself. On your feet and applaud the man.

I MISS MARVIN...SO VERY SAD ABOUT HOW HE DIED...HIS OWN FATHER SHOT HIM.
This is just a magical rendition by a legend Marvin Gaye... putting his heart and soul into this performance with a super talented group of musicians and backup singers.
Back when being a music artist meant being an actual artist and required talent
Arguably the greatest singer of all time. RIP Marvin.
Primal, vulnerable, raw, universal. Only Marvin Gaye - and Ray Charles - convey all and more. RIP.
What a performance. He was a boss.
After all these years, still one of my favorites, he was in a class very few ever visited.
Boom!
Marvin Gaye was such a passionate performer, he gave his all on stage. I love the break down towards the end of the performance with his background singers, they were on point with the harmonies.

The legend that was Marvin Gaye. Never replicated.
I love Marvin Gaye
Everything he sings and performs is amazing. This songs brings back times of line dancing. I was young and carefree. Thank you Marvin Gaye for all the wonderful music. May you R.I.P.
Hello Laurie
How are you doing today?
I often wonder what he would be today like All the other past musician s taken so early
No one makes music like this anymore. Hard to describe how it makes me feel.
Agreed. Too much production and pyrotechnics in the mainstream. I also notice a distinct lack of phones flashing. People just came to listen.
Artist of the Artists, God has you now, lucky God.
He only has 900 grand followers. That's unbelievable. I studied music from so many countries through so much genres from folk to progressive trance. and this man and the whole band are just magnificent. They should be cherished and protected forever. Because music is spiritual! ❤✌
This should have a billion views not Drake or any other rapper of today
Who with me Marvin 2020
2021😁
2024❤
When Marvin sings this, you can feel the heat coming off the pavement.
This man right here was, and will always be my favorite of all times. His US Postal stamp will be available next month in time for his 80th birthday, and I had the privilege of signing the petition a while back. I have asked for some for Mother's day.
I heard it on radio when it came out , 53years still biggest fan ….!
