    The majority of withdrawal is in your head. Sometimes watching stuff like this help. Usually not. The people who tend to make less of their withdrawal symptoms have more success abstaining. The phrase "you might kinda feel like you have the flu" is probably going to do as much harm as good.
    I've detoxed from everything from nicotine to methadone and Xanax. Yes, there are physical symptoms. But the less you know the better. Sometimes knowing when and if it will end helps but planting it in someone's head that they're going to have the flu for 2 weeks isn't good and not necessarily true for most, especially if they don't expect to feel that way. And you're going to feel good long before 1 year. You're going to have peaks and valleys. Those will smooth out around a year

      One thing this man said that helped me quit nicotine was to think of withdrawal symptoms as your body getting rid of the addiction. When I frame it that way, it makes me almost enjoy the withdrawal because you can feel the physical battle with addiction taking place and it feels good to be winning.

    • @marcd2743

      Was thinking the exact same thing when I watched this. Nicotine withdrawals are almost 100% mental and dropping in that such and such will happen for two weeks can create that situation if somebody hears it.
      I found that not avoiding the withdrawals and running towards them, laughing at and taunting them did miracles for quitting.

    • @lordprettyfakko

      Absolute facts. At 21 I previously quitted (almost 3 years ago) for 6 months. What I did was only reading Allen Carr book, and quitting wasn't difficult at all and I did lost all the desire to smoke. Then I picked up the habit again due to stupidity and now I'm on day 4 of quitting, but I'm looking at material online and that is making it harder to stay off nicotine. For example, this time looking online I discovered the dopamine game that nicotine plays, and it was easier to quit when I didn't even know how it worked.
      Allen Carr doesn't admit in his book that nicotine actually gives you a mood boost, he only says that it makes you believe that, but it's not true. And for this reason, right now, I am feeling that I am actually "losing something" by quitting. But it's cool, if I have to smoke 15 cigs to feel that same mood boost because of tolerance, I rather not feel it.

      Picture yourself a year, 2, 5, 10 and even 20+ years from where you are right now and ask yourself if the person you’re going to be then is an addict or a fully recovered individual with a bright and successful future ahead of them despite of past struggles with addiction. The only way you’ll know the answer is based on what decisions you make from here on out once and for all. Set those two versions of yourself in your mind and tell yourself that it’s up to you to decide which one will take over the rest of your life. The days that you relapse and let too much time pass you by are the days you give power and control to the addict version of yourself that should’ve only existed as a distant memory within a newly developed mindset.

    • @TwenOalley
      @TwenOalley 9 місяців тому +3

      The best way to do it is buy a vape that you can count the number of "puffs/draws" on.
      Smoke it as normal for a day and find your baseline level.
      The reason for counting the puffs is so that you stay consistent with
      how much you're vaping even with the weaker juice. Otherwise you'd just go through juice faster but maintain the same level of nicotine when you lower the strength of the juice.
      Over time, reduce the strength of the nicotine in the vape until you're down to a low strength or even a 0 nic juice.
      One thing that worked for me is once I had my quit planned I just never replaced the old dirty coil. That way if I was in a lot of pain I'd hit the disgusting burnt vape to get the headache to go away, but it was always unpleasant and I think that specifically helped me quit.
      at 3 weeks so far rn after vaping constantly for a few years prior.
      Also nicotine patches work well I've heard.

      I have a similar experience with sadness and I've been thinking maybe I'm supressing it with smoking because I don't know how to regulate my emotions or how to let myself feel them. I've been thinking about going to theraphy and talk about this. So, even though I'm not sure, maybe you are also supressing your anger with nicotine and that's why you can't regulate it without it?

    • @nevanks
      @nevanks Рік тому +5

      @Selene Yeah, that's what I hear about it. It's a suppressant. I definitely need to work on my anger, but I'm at that mark where I make too much to afford assistance but not enough to actually afford anything medical related. Best of luck to you though, I hope you overcome the addiction. I'll keep trying until I can't anymore. Maybe one day, it will work out.

    Hey!! Going on 2 weeks without hitting a vape after 6 years of smoking cigarettes and then an additional 5 years of vaping every single day. I will say this for the ones who may have had an addiciton as strong as mine. If your brain is committed to it, you will do it. I havent been able to completely cut out nicotine yet unfortunately it still has me in a slight hold. Ive been using zyn pouches to ease the withdrawals, not the best idea, but my first goal was to detox my lungs and gradually quit nicotine all together by the end of the year. My advice to someone who is trying to go full cold turkey is, If your body cannot handle it, it is okay, not ideal, but okay to take very small doses of nic ONLY if you absolutely have to. My goal is cut down every week until I am free. Its very hard for me and I hope I can help at least one person make the choice to quit this horrible addiction. They sold us lies years ago about vaping and they are capitalzing big time from it. Lets cut this out, we dont need big tobacco, they need us. Screw them! My DMs are open for anyone struggling, we can get thru this together! ❤❤

I broke the habit of inhaling with a full strength patch for 3 days, then cut the patch in half every 3 days until there was nothing left. It was a soft enough landing, Less cravings and less intense already. I wish you luck on breaking away from nicotine.

      this is close to me. I'm taking a progressive approach. Currently still vaping but half the mg I did 3 weeks ago and half as much liquid. I've a planning to slowly get rid of it without too much withdrawal. In the morning I don't vape until 12PM, I use nicotine gums during that time. Now the nicotine level in the vape seems to be lower or about the same as in the gums so I'm starting to wish I could use a gum instead of vaping during the day but it's not low enough that it's constant. I will just keep tricking my brain like that until I reach 0mg. It seems to be working. Also I think an important factor is to have 1 room where you are allowed to vape, and not have the vape in your pocket at all time in your home, because I used to chain vape 24/24. And also have a sense of progress, however small it is, steps in the right directions is better than no steps.

Most people that have relapsed, tell me that it often happens after the 2nd or 3rd drink takes affect and some one around them starts smoking a cigarette or using some form of Nicotine. Seems like it just takes a few puffs to start the process all over again.

    I vaped and only ever vaped for a year, then wanted to quit, and by day 2 I was becoming extremely irritable and tempted to get furious. I knew it was the withdrawals but didn't expect myself to feel it at that intensity.
    I threw some stuff in my house and yelled at myself feeling like a fool afterwards and vaped to get myself together later just to think over this first to not do something destructive.
    Yet a couple months after I tried again to stop, and for the first 5 days I just kept feeling better from day 1 and wondered how on earth was I not feeling like crap or experiencing any withdrawing except a minor headache.
    I've heard people tell me it's not hard to quit, I heard others say it is hard.
    But I think it can vary from the experience myself.
    After about the first 4 months of vaping, it totally wasn't worth it.
    I started in my 30s and I'm still in my 30s and quit and find no reason to go back.
    It was interesting and at times amazing feelings, even taught me some hard personal lessons,
    But totally not worth it.
