Nicotine withdrawal only last physically between 3-5 days. Nicotine withdrawal can not kill you, this is a fact. Most nicotine withdrawal symptoms are the result of a mind game the addictive voice is playing with you!
If you are quitting smoking, quitting vaping, or quitting chewing tobacco, and you know what to expect over the next few days, weeks, and months, quitting becomes much much easier!
In this brief video Dr. Frank discusses nicotine withdrawal and how you can be sure to avoid nicotine relapse, and achieve long term sobriety from nicotine.

Well in the first four days I noticed a lot of pain probably cuz my nerves are coming back alive when I'm feeling it and I'm more wound up then a high speed racer racing around and I can't do that because I have chronic arthritis throughout my body a fake ankle and I can't take pills for pain because I don't want my liver getting sauced up any more than it is haaaa

After 10 years of dipping and smoking, I quit both cold turkey. I’m proud to say that I’m on my 7th month of no nicotine use. After quitting, watch out for the 6th month cravings to hit. That was the most challenging time for me mentally. Your brain will tell you “you’ve been able to go without nicotine this long, and little bit right now will be ok.” Don’t give in guys.

What Ive found is I can quit for a week or two, then I think it would be nice if I could use it in moderation , rare occasions, like I do with alcohol; or I just feel bored and I want to "treat" myself, and of course it quickly becomes daily again (Zyn pouches).
Im lucky because I dont get headaches or any serious withdrawal symptoms, it's just very addictive and I get cravings for the first few days of "quitting".
Im still aiming to quit, it's a waste of money and despite being a relatively harmless type of nicotine, it's still bad for you.

i smoked for 15 years and overall had nicotine in my blood stream for 15 years straight. The first 3 days i actually had a friend of mine come to my apartment and monitor me / police me for all 3 days because of the brain fog and unyielding shaking and violent outbursts - It felt like my entire blood stream was burning and i wanted to peel my skin off. I also begged for ciggs and tried to leave the apartment so many times and ended up sobbing. After those first 3 days im telling you its like the withdrawal symptom car runs outta gas and by the end of the first week it was all over with and after that all you need is the resolve and if your like me looking at nicotine with disgust to never touch it again.

As someone who struggles with some pretty serious mental illnesses, as well as a recently quit nicotine addiction… I PROMISE IT GETS BETTER!!!! I think it effected me much worse due to the baseline depression and anxiety I experienced before quitting, but I was just about bed ridden for the first 3 days (got up once in a while but I was nowhere near functional) insomnia has always been an issue for me as well, but my already low sleep per night was cut in half when I quit. (I should add that I was strictly vaping, but half a novo 4 pod per day filled with 5.5% juice is a LOT of nic) On the morning of day 4 it was like magic, I think it was the first time in the last 4 years that I didn’t have to force a smile, and I found myself laughing at random things.. day 5-6 and my energy and physical strength not only came back, but I feel twice as physically strong as before I quit. Now I’m on day 9, zero desire to relapse and happier than ever. Some physical withdrawals still persisting like minor headaches and noticeable increased appetite, but I think this might just be the best I can get without serious work on my mental health aside from the nic. If you’re quitting right now, I don’t care HOW painful and stressful it is.. You’re either going to suffer for a few more days, or never reach your full potential for the rest of your life. Keep pushing❤
    Edited for some tips:
-You don’t need to cold Turkey like me, but at least when you’re sure you want to be fully done, throw every single thing you could use to inhale nic away and never look back.
-Set a sleep schedule, and just stay in bed if you can’t sleep, it helps eventually
-Do not call yourself someone “quitting nic”, call yourself someone who “used to vape/smoke” mindset helps a lot
-Meditation helped me ignore the cravings
-Make a lot of food when you do and store it, trust me you’re gonna want to eat again before you want to cook
-drink way more water than you think you should
-replace your most common vaping times (for me the morning and right before bed) with something natural that you enjoy, and do it consistently
-get active when you’re missing nic a lot
-never watch people who vape or even talk about vaping in their vids for the first few days, watch vids like this instead
-Don’t make any big life decisions while withdrawing, you are not thinking straight, even if you “feel better” until at least 9 days, and I’ve heard it’s actually 2-4 weeks

You helped me stop by preparing me on what to expect. No fear! I quit cold turkey 16 days ago. I can breathe better. I don't have to step away from my family, friends, favorite movie or after meals anymore to have a smoke. I feel free. The first 3 days were indeed the hardest, I had night sweats, headaches, some muscle aches & trouble sleeping but while staring at the ceiling I would think of what you said "it's the poison leaving your body". "Minor side effects or long term side effects?" I took Tylenol for the aches and pains & used gum "Trident cinnamon flavor" for the cravings. I would also visit your channel to keep me strong and I did it after 20 yrs. I did as you said and replaced the bad habit with a good habit. I reached for veggies such as celery sticks, apples and sliced oranges. I know you said 90 days but my cravings are gone. I also hope they stay gone. Thank you once again Dr. I am grateful for you.

I’m on day 2, the best way I can describe withdrawal is a heavy anxiety feeling/shortness of breath that gets stronger the more you think about smoking. It’s a hellish quiet feeling that so far hasn’t gone away since I took my last drag. I’m staying strong!

    • @alexacdc1234
      @alexacdc1234 Рік тому +3

I’m on day ten now and all withdrawal effects have gone away besides a couple **weak** cravings now and then. It was surprisingly easy for me and Im surprised with myself for sticking through the first 4 days. I only really experienced the above symptoms, a non painful phlegm cough for 4 days and cold sweats for 3 days which weren’t really noticeable besides my sweaty sheets in the morning (gross but not painful) ether way it was surprising that I could do it this long considering I chain smoked for 7 years straight. It’s not as hard as you think as long as you push through the first 4 days it really is true that those are the worst of the worst. Now I’m at the point where I have no excessive thoughts about cigarettes or smoking and can live my life normally without chain smoking or getting that spike or anxiety(craving) every half an hour. It really is freeing to not be held down by that constant 5 months nicotine fiend break.

I was dipping 1 can of skoal everyday of my life for 16 years. Quitting smokeless tobacco was by far the most difficult thing I have ever done in my life. The first time I tried to quit I lasted 3 weeks and I couldn't understand why I still wanted it so bad so I caved in. A few years went on and I would try to quit, then cave, then quit, then cave again. Finally, I convinced myself that deep down I really wanted to quit. This time I knew what to expect. I prepared my mind and told myself that the next few weeks would be the worst time in my life and I finally quit. I have not had any form of nicotine for over 10 years. To this day I still have dreams of dipping snuff and I get mad at myself and wonder how I could ever quit again, then I'm relieved when I wake up realizing it was just a dream. It's really amazing what nicotine can do to you mentally. You have to come to grips with the fact you're giving up your favorite thing to do in life. Only then was I able to finally quit and be free of this terrible addiction.

I'm a smoker of close to 10 years. Day 6 going into 7 and jeez...the headaches and insomnia were real. The depersonalization really messed with me until I realized it was just my brain readjusting, and watching your vids helped me stay on the level - even when I thought I was going insane . Thanks so much for keeping things in perspective

The physical withdrawals help me remember why I was quitting in the first place... Like enjoying the soreness after a good workout... The cravings are what get me because I forget about how bad vaping was for me and I always fold months after said withdrawals have subsided. I'm trying again and haven't vaped for 3 weeks, but I'd be lying if I said I don't have to actively convince myself not to stop by a smoke shop every single day. Good Luck everyone.

I've been vaping for 11 years now, with some cigarette use involved for a few years as well. I'm day 4 cold turkey now. This is my 14th time attempting to quit and it's the farthest I've gotten. Withdrawal is kicking my ass - it feels like I lost my best friend. But I know what to expect this time. If you're planning to quit, don't be ashamed if you relapse. This shit isn't easy and it can involve multiple attempts. With each attempt, you learn something new though -you learn what your triggers are and you learn how to deal with them. Cheers!

Im on day four. Insomnia on the first night, a lot of anxiety, moodswings and trouble focusing. Day three was a bit easier. And now on day four Its only the emotional stability that is off. I have been using pouches (the strong ones) and I think they make quitting a lot harder than other than the swedish "snus" or snuff.... for instance. When I quit before I didnt have this strong withdrawal symtoms. Right now I feel a lot better than when I was on nicotine. Thanks for all your videos!!

Returning to this video to say, I quit nicotine entirely about 3 months ago. And started exercising daily again.
Now I never even think about it anymore. Even when I’m around other people who do it, it doesn’t even remotely trigger me.
It took me a few failed quitting attempts to eventually get here, but don’t quit on yourself.
Thank you Dr. Frank for helping me re shape my mindset!

Day one for me. I'm gonna be watching this video over and over for days, I'm sure. But the way he rationalizes everything is already helping me believe I can do this, no matter how hard it's going to be. It will be worth it. I hope from now on I can come back to this comment and remember this as the moment I decided to take my life back, say no to nicotine, and relinquish all the shame and pain that has come with it. Thank you for this video!!
Update: Well it's been 15 days for me.. Day 1 & 2 were literal hell, guys. I've still been smoking vitamin and cbd vapes to cope but want to quit those as well.. But hell at least I got off the nic, right? The hardest aspects to cope with for me are my emotions in general, and my sleep. My anxiety is through the roof and all my emotions are touchy. I haven't had a solid night sleep since I quit the nicotine. Admittedly, I still think about nicotine all day every day. I went 6 years of my life without going longer than even 12 hours without smoking, probably. So maybe for some people by this point it's getting easier. But dispelling a habit you've had you entire adult life is not that easy, so don't knock yourself if you're a couple weeks or a month in and still having intense cravings. Sometimes it's not even a craving for nicotine itself, but to just feel something going into my lungs. I'm trying to work on breathing and meditation techniques to hopefully help with that aspect and get off the other vapes I've started using. This is all around a lot more difficult than I thought to deal with.. I hope there is still a light at the end of the tunnel for me. I don't see myself going back to the nic because I recognize how bad if is for my health.. But I don't see myself being any happier without it yet, if anything, life feels a lot more bleak at this point.
