Life is Strange Episode 5: Polarized Let's Play gameplay walkthrough.
Life Is Strange is an episodic interactive drama graphic adventure video game developed by Dontnod Entertainment, and published by Square Enix. The game's plot focuses on Maxine Caulfield, a photography student who discovers that she has the ability to rewind time at any moment, leading her every choice to enact the butterfly effect. The game will consist of five episodes. With six to eight weeks between each episode, it released its first on 30 January 2015. Life Is Strange is available for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 via digital distribution.
In the game, story and character arc serve as the central point rather than traditional graphic adventure tropes like point-and-click puzzles. The player's actions will be able to adjust the narrative as it unfolds, and reshape it once allowed to travel back in time. Themes of memory and identity are used to convey an adolescent sense of nostalgia, while the allegory of inner struggle is derived from the mystical aspects.
Development of Life Is Strange began in April 2013. It was formed with an episodic format in mind, for reasons both financial and creative. The developers conducted research on the setting by travelling to the Pacific Northwest, and subverted known archetypes to make the characters. At release, Life Is Strange was acclaimed by critics, most of which praised the character development and game mechanic. It had sold one million copies by the end of July 2015.
Max's everyday hero entry was more to show that anyone can be a hero, using herself as an example. It expresses the importance of bearing witness because it features her standing in front of a bunch of pictures of random events. Like a witness to a murder or a holocaust survivor. It sort of humanizes the idea of a hero which is what the point of her entry was. She wasn't being vain, or at least that's how I perceive it.

I don't think a photo with your back facing the camera as you look at a wall of photos counts as being about you? As the guy said, it's more like saying anyone can be an everyday hero, there are more than one in this world and there are different kinds of heroes. If I remember correctly her wall isn't covered in selfies; it's a verity of things.
I totally agree. I think she won, because the contest appreciated her innovation and creativity. She is out of focus admiring the pictures of everyday heroes on her wall (as if she couldn't choose just one). It's every photo she's taken of people at Blackwell. At first I thought it was just a "selfie" too, but after really sitting and looking at it and thinking about my experiences in art contests, I think it's a great photo. Maybe +Geek Remix could also take another look at it? I know it sucks when there's "greater" heroes to choose from, so sometimes judges choose based off of creativity and not who's the best hero or most deserving hero; it is also a photography contest, so the "best" in the subject matter doesn't always determine a win.
+Lilies of the Valley although personally, it could have been executed a little better by giving more attention to the photos in front of her, but I'm just nitpicking.

Okay, I know this video is old and all, but why does Stacy say that Max is fucked up for saying that it's Jefferson's turn to be captured in a moment? If I was in Max's shoe's, I would have probably said the same thing.
Man, I totally disagree with what you guys said about all the other photos. I personally really liked Max's picture and could see why the gallery people liked it. More importantly, though, this was the highlight of Max's entire life!! I was so happy and calm in this part of the game. Second guessing what everyone says because you hated Max's photo kind of dampened the mood. :P
Mari I 100% was convinced with the drinking tears thing. I was like "Huh, I wonder how she knows how tears taste? Are...they actually good?"
I really enjoy watching Life is Strange playthrough once again. :D I'm one of those who love when you stop and talk about different things, share opinions. It makes it so interesting to watch. That why I always hella ship Stari, hue!

Do you think this might be a reference to what happens later in the game where Max has to go back in time again? John Doe means "An unidentified man" (just like Jane Doe, which appears on Max's shirt and references Rachel).
i cried 2 times in 15 years, i really wish i can cry more often sometime. It is not something i can control or anything. I have been through very though times and i cant release my emotions, it really sucks. :(

The picture isn't the only one that works, "Get me some water," push the cart into Mark, then 'pull the cord' is how to spare David from getting the scar.

I feel like there are two different Maxes. There is the Max that jumps in the photo and the present Max that both know about everything she’s been through, her alternate realities, and the changes she’s made/making. But the Max filling the gaps in between the two is the version of herself living throughout the week as if this was all new to her, unaware of her making any changes to the timeless. Hence “all the maxes left behind” comment in the last episode.
The long figure statues in the gallery are probably inspired from the work of Giacometti.

one of the fan theories says that max doesn't travel in time, she travel between parallel uneverses, that's why she dodn't remember anything when she jumps in photograph and jumps back, cause she jumps in other universes and choose one of them. And there's the other thing, that when you (as Max) stands in public than change position and rewind, no one notice that you kinda teleported to other place, because exists universe, where max stands in any positions. It shown when you breaks in principals office, in parallel universe this door can be unlocked or Max has kees. Please Mary and Stacy notice this comment, i think it would be interesting for both of you to talk about!

Max's entry reminds me of that one post about how everyone wants to save the world and it's okay if you only save one person and it's okay if that person is you. I think that's why everyone liked hers?

I think there were plenty of good pictures in there. My favorites were the military ones. My boyfriend is in the military and I found those were the only good ones besides the ones where they help homeless and the doctors and firefighters etc. I don't see how the two girls kissing is an everyday hero but hey maybe I'm missing the key element :)

Ok, I came up with a stupid fan theory. Not that fan theories are stupid, but this one is. The reason why Max can time travel is because a demon called Hawt Dawg man (in Assyria he was called Pazuzu)

who lives inside the Tobanga. He feeds off of Jefferson's and Nathan's dark emotions. He is particularly fond of Max because of her indecisive nature and constant judgement of herself and others. The teenage drama, especially the guilt felt by Max of watching her childhood friend that she had not communicated with for five years die before her gave Pazuzu/Hawt Dawg Man, enough mana to break and fray the time lines. This enabled the demon to cause the death of birds, whales, and other biblical like "end time" signs.
I fucking hate myself for continuing to watch this after everything ended good earlier, with jefferson and nathan going to jail, rachel being found, kate being comforted and chloe alive.
I just know something is gonna happen now, gods-fucking-dammit.

Call me PSY-CHO-PAAATH if you like, but I actually found it quite humerus just how many ways there were to kill David. Particularly given that the ultimate solution is for you to take direct action. They really go out of their way to make him seem as useless as possible.

What i Never really got about this timeline was that David should be a little confused about Max‘ hint 👀 wasn‘t he wondering how she knew? And people would probably want to know how he found out that Jefferson did all this

29:00 Guys not crying is less of a thing than it used to be, but there's still the stereotype. I wish I could cry more. When it happens I just let it, but sometimes I'm watching a movie and I know I should cry and I'm just not. Other times I start crying and I'm like why did that make me cry? Some people are just more in touch with their emotions than others. My emotions tend to just annoy me.

+Geek Remix Um Mari and Stacey I have a few theories/thoughts on Max's selfie winning the everyday hero contest. I get what you guys mean about Maxs picture winning the contest being a little ridiculous but I think it could also be viewed as a statement. Like saying Max got all this attention finally and all this praise for her art work but thats not a perfect reality.a hero puts their self before someone else sometimes to save them. At that moment Max was the hero who '"fixed" everything like she always wanted, but once she gets the phone call from Chloe it reminds her that their are other people who are more important. The dinner scene also shows Max rubbing it in her face that she at first only cared about her popularity at first so she used her powers to her advantage.OR its just to show how everyone can be a everyday hero and you can be proud of yourself if you think you deserve it.

Someone in the gallery, if you 'speak' to them (or just stand near them? I forget which it is in that specific case), explains why everyone thinks Max's picture is good; the focus is meant to be the photographs in the background on the wall, and Max is out of focus.
The way the "photos" are presented to us as players doesn't make that very clear, IMHO.
Destroying your first successful creation to save someone else- that, my friends, is the definition of love.
To be fair, even though only, like, Chloe knows it, Max is a hero. She's saved Chloe countless times, she managed to go through time to stop Jefferson at one point in some timeline, She saved Kate in at least one timeline, and she had the opportunity to stay in the Alternate Timeline with William where there was no storm and she was not only popular but also not a few days from having a tornado destroy her time but instead she went to her original timeline to make sure she could save everyone, or try to, whatever.

There's also another way to prevent David from getting the scar. If you ask fro 1 last pic, dont warn him, then tell him to throw the camera, or ask for water. If you ask for water, dont warn him, then kick the tray at Jefferson.

These girls keep blaming Max for going back in time so that she doesn't end up in San Francisco, but it's not like Max has much of a choice. She wants to save Chloe and it's not like she can live with herself staying in San Fran. Imagine getting reality bending powers a few days ago and not knowing what to do with them? I think in this situation these girls (and any normal human being) wouldn't know how to perfectly and exactly use their powers or what the right thing to do is. Max doesn't know the true nature of her power 'cause she's only had like five days to figure it out. Give her a break, it's not like she can sit back and let her best friend die!
It's not necessarily good to constantly be changing time, but Max just wants to be a good person and save Kate from dying, save Chloe from getting shot in the bathroom, etc. It's easy to make mistakes when you've got that much power and no guidance. They're blaming Max for not using her power perfectly at every step, it's infuriating. I love this channel but they are very biased here.

Actually, "One last picture" is not the only one that works. You can also choose "Some water" - Jefferson will move the troley and Max can kick it during the fight.
