Looks great, Neil. The mulch looked nice, but you nailed it with all the downsides of mulch. You did a wonderful job of it, as always, and it was SO nice to see the family have such a large part in this video. Your wife and daughters are indeed lovely, and they certainly made this video truly fun to watch. Thanks, Neil, for sharing....well, I guess just sharing your everyday. You touch something deep inside all of us that really resonates. Your boss (Ed? I think?) is an interesting fellow. I enjoy the episodes where he's involved. It'd be fun, at least I think so, to see an episode where he's featured more prominently. Business owner, farmer, family man...he's got a lot going on. Love to see the interactions between the two of you.
I liked the mulch better, I feel like it was a softer contrast/break from the tidy driveway, lawn and building layout. Although I am biased to mulch because it reminds me of the country gardens around farmhouses I grew up on in Australia. The river rocks suit the cleaner and more organised look of American homes, the maintenance trade off is a nice addition to it also looking great. Well done team
I think it looks great!! also with the rocks a cool fun thing to do is pick a few each year to paint and then throw them out and about for memories to find in the future!
Neil, that looks great my friend. My wife and I are building our new house at the moment and will installing stone around the house instead of mulch for many reasons. Less bugs up against the house and mulch not making its way onto the driveway after it rains are probably the two biggest reasons. Happy Father's Day!
Since you're both on the same page as loving the dark look I'd recommend sprinkling in some dark accent rock in there that also won't blow away when leaf blowing.
Happy Father's Day, Neil!! The new stone looks great and you'll love the maintenance time savings it provides! More time to relax by the pond. Enjoy your day!
Looks excellent. Working together you made a huge impact on your home. We recently did the same, using a slight tan-colored tumbled stone. Matches our brick mortar. Love the look of black mulch for about a month before it fades and turns to mud. Now it is easy to maintain with a a leaf blower and glyphosate. And I can speak from years of experience. NO fabric prevents weeds, they grow on top. And NO edging stays put. As dad would say, "you did good".
Thanks a lot! Showed my wife this video and she said, "Why can't you be like him and do that to our house?" I said, "I can, but I will need a dump truck and skid steer." Thanks!
Hello Neil, thanks for the great video. It shows that you can achieve a lot together. I think the new stone is very beautiful and stands out well from the house. Greetings from germany 😀
GREASE BUSTER. Hey Neil. As a kid, I worked for the guy who invented the Grease Buster. I baled hay for him during the day and assembled Grease Busters at night and during the winter. I literally built tens of thousands of those things. Got a lot of direction from him that steered me to where I am today. Would love to give you some tips for use.
I don’t mind the extra labor to have mulch. I like the look of the rock. I also like you, Kara, the girls, and the pup working in the yard as a family unit.
Happy Father’s Day. Another great video. One small quibble from one professional homeowner to another. Those are definitely not “pine trees”. Love your channel!
Your place is so neat and clean that it all looks great, but for me, it's hard to beat the look of freshly spread black mulch. I try to catch someone local who has too much and get it cheap.
We have the same river rock around our house in PA. After fighting termites decades ago in the flowerbeds around the house it was an easy sell. 😂 Happy Father’s Day (Belated) to you Neil! A great ‘teaching’ Dad.
The rock looks great - kinda funny how much I enjoy watching someone else do yard work! Ps Happy Father’s Day Mr. K! God bless you for accepting children and building a family and for the love you give to your daughters. And there are others ways we can see the love you have for them: early in my life before I had children a wise Jew told me that the very best things I could ever do for my children was to love their mother. Many don’t consider this but you clearly have done that - and I’m sure a whole lot more. Hope you have a great day!
Just wanted you all to know what a great segment this was! The whole family working together and all. Great job on the rock, it looks great! You never cease to amaze me! Love your show!
Happy Father's Day, Neil! Rock over mulch for anyone who has tree's on their property. Especially when fall clean-ups begin. No more blowing mulch into the lawn😊
Happy Father's Day! You have the most beautiful house/yard/outbuildings - I started watching the driveway maintenance video several years ago and I've been hooked ever since. What a great family and an entertaining channel. I'm a DDD fan for life!!!
Happy Father's Day!!! Congrats to the girls and their softball team!!! The rock looks great... the color really complements the house... nice choice!!!
The work you did looks amazing! The fact that it will stay tidy and not require as much picking stuff out of it, raking it out of the grass, or the cats messing around in it, is going to offset you missing the darker contrast you had with the mulch! I particularly like new new lines you cut into all the edges of the grass. It is a nice, clean look!
Timing! If only you had posted this video about a month and a half ago. I just completely cleared my wife's flower garden, placed a new paver stone walkway and placed pea sized river rock down. Yes, I also put down landscape fabric. $500 worth of rock delivered plus a sore back from all the shoveling, leveling, tamping and racking. I can appreciate how much work you put into your project. I have rented the sod removers for a 39 ft above ground swimming pool and that was much easier than what you did. Looks great!
Another great video! Happy Father’s Day Perfect timing, we are getting ready to switch from mulch also and this clears up the debate about weed barrier. Thank you.
It’s great that the girls are helping. It would be so much quicker and easier to just do it yourself, but the time and patience you show with your girls is commendable and they will remember it t for years to come. They’re going to be amazing wives and mothers someday because of the amazing parents they have today.
That river rock looks amazing around the house. I'm thinking of doing the same thing at my house now Happy Father's Day And congratulations to your soft ball team
As a former stump grinding contractor I will never do rock. Mostly out of spite, I have taken many of those stones off the shin while grinding. Looks great Neil!
The stone looks great! Love the variation and the darker look.
The rock looks great. Nice job to watch 😂
I like how the stone looks 👍🏻
Great video especially teaching your daughters tractor and heavy machinery skills 👍🇺🇸🔧
Getting caught up after some minor surgery and I have to say that the stone looks great, well done.
I love the look of the new rock! Nice and clean 😊. You have a beautiful family and home. ❤
What a large job for the 2 of you to take on yourselves.
The rocks looks good, nice work!

I personally love the look! The effort y’all put into your home is incredible!
It looks fantastic! Loads of work but so worth it!
Rock is good for low maintenance and looks great too. 😊
Love the new look!
You have a stunning home. Rocks look cool too 😊
The rock looks GREAT
Looks amazing! I’m a straight line clean kinda guy so I love it!
Best part was the working together and the young ones learning how to use the tractor!
AWESOME!
Beautiful clean look! Goes great with the house color. Easy to blow leaves off. I approve ❤
Love the rock always been a rock guy started with number 2 stone now have timber light. You will love the ease of maintenance. As always great job!
Nice video, nice look and a nice family.
Rock All the way. Looks great Neil.

When you watered the river rock, WOW, what a transformation!! Looks great!

You and your family are always making y’all’s place look so nice. Your videos inspire me every now and then 😂. Looks great!
Looks great! Excellent job putting those girls on the tractor. A great skill to teach your kids!
Since you're both on the same page as loving the dark look I'd recommend sprinkling in some dark accent rock in there that also won't blow away when leaf blowing.
Happy Father's Day!
Thank you for all the work that you do on your videos.
Take care!

Really like the look. We’re in the process of putting down river rock for all of our mulch.

Nice to see Kara getting in front of the camera. I struggle to get my wife on camera. She would much rather be behind it! The landscaping looks great!

Rock looks way better and much is easier to maintain.
The rock was perfect. Looks great.
Happy Fathers Day! Good job with the stone looks great
It looks great! I would imagine fresh mulch would look a little cleaner, but I really like the stone better for all the reasons you mentioned.
Looks excellent. Working together you made a huge impact on your home.

Looks awesome!! Great project, and another great video. Stay safe!!
Every time I see the old grain bin pad that you had your wood pile on, I think it would be a great place for a gazebo/pool party house!
The stone looks fabulous. It’s nice to have a garden bed refresh 💚
Well done Team DDD. Making the Championship game is a real achievement
Very nice. That's my plan.
Looks awesome
