Reminds me of the concept of Narrative Levels from the SCP Foundation. HOI4 is down 1 narrative level from us, same for fiction stories and such. The question is, are we in a Narrative Level? For Christians like myself, we believe so, we are living a narrative that was planned before existence existed. A narrative in which we make smaller narratives through fiction, and these lower narratives can have even lower narratives. Like a fictional story having more fictional stories inside it. In the HOI4 world, Ernest Hemingway probably writes For Whom The Bell Tolls, inspired by their version of the Spanish Civil War. So that's 2 narrative levels down from us.
