I'm French, I heard many nany cover on this song and I think it's the best version !!! Lara is Incredible ! I heard this cover more 50 time and I have always the same goosebumps all the time ! She isn't just the singer : she is the character in the song ! Incredible cover 😍
Salut copain français :D ... je suis bien d'accord. C'est le meilleur cover de tous les temps sur "je suis malade". Aussi bien Serge Lama que Dalida, aucun n'arrive à un tel niveau de perfection et de transmission d'émotion que Lara sur cette chanson, à ce moment là. Elle a chanté celle-ci plusieurs autres fois mais la meilleure était celle-ci, en 1999 je crois.

Rewatch the video. While the audience applauds at the end (just where you stopped it), she takes about 15 seconds to "come back" to this world. It is startling.

Just bc she faded this part oit during editing doesn't mean she didn't watch it. She clearly didn't or she wouldn't have to fade it out. She would have shown herself stopping the video

Fun Fact: Lara sang same year as Celine Dion in 1988 Eurovision. Imagine, two freaking powerhouses stemmed from that years competition and this is why Eurovision is a great platform for any artist.

I was hoping that you would let the video continue to see just how long it took her to come out of the character in the song. 🎶👱♀️👗👠👠💓 And so I am sure you know, Lara is one of Dimash's idols and both have worked a lot with Igor & they recently sang Ti Amo Cosi together with Aida at Igor's 65th birthday in Moscow and after that the 3 of them worked on the song Your Love. Igor composed the music & Lara wrote the lyrics in 3 days and then it was debuted at the Kremlin Palace on International Woman's Day.

Every Lara Fabian's song is a Masterpiece. People think there's 3 singers at the top... Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, because they don't know Lara Fabian. There's really 4 up there.
The reason that sets her apart from the Vocal Trinity is that is that she didnt sold records and albums like those three who are among the bestselling singers of all time and also lack of English songs most people prefer that and of course the genre most people in the world are not into her style
Lastly she doesn't have huge influence in the music industry worldwide , Whitney Houston influences in pop music and also the rise of black female singers after she got famous worldwide , while Mariah Carey popularized RnB pop and those riffs and runs and of course the whistle,,and lastly The Queen of Power Ballad Celine Dion who influenced a lot of divas in the world through her singing style and enchanting ballad songs like my heart will go on
You can't just say that she's part of them because there's a lot of divas like her all over the world here in Asia we have Regine Velazquez Asia's songbird and Korea have Kim sohyang
The main difference that sets all of them apart from the Vocal Trinity is albums sold , popularity (worldwide) , and of course influence

I like your comment ; what makes her unique is that often with singers like Houston or Dion or opera singers we have the feeling that the song is a "pretext" for demonstrating their vocal qualities. But Lara Fabian has also an incredible technique but all her qualities are at the service of the song so it is not an "exhibition" of qualities (listen to how i can sustain a note , how long is this vibrato.....) Her obsession is not to demonstrate her virtuosity at every moment but to use it on purpose . This is so much smarter and more moving
she is not human, definitely from another galaxy, but nobody suspects :)

She is the only one using every levels of her talent to channel every spectrum of a song right into your soul.
No need to show off about her power or technique, she has nothing to prove. So she is just genuinely living the song and it's meaning.

Like Shanialover says below, the end of the performance is a performance in itself. You can see her come out of a trance like state regaining her composure. Blessed to have seen her perform in person with her directly in front of me in the first row. Pitch perfect perfection. 💕
Lara is one of those singers who is in control of her voice whether she’s belting or whispering.
Besides that, she’s an interpreter in my book. She’s always communicating emotions to her audience. Whether sadness or joy, she’s always connecting somehow.
Seeing her live is the best way to enjoy Lara Fabian.
And you’re looking at prime Lara here (late 90s, early 2000s), she was giving everything on stage vocally and theatrically.
Nota bene: This concert is a gem vocally.
And also also that last note is sustained for 16-17 seconds. Lara has a classic vocal training but is not an opera singer, which makes it even more enjoyable when she does that.

=Lara is a living legend but not well known in the US. There's a reason why she's been Dimash's idol as he was growing up. There are worse people to learn from in terms of performance! Dimash sings several of Lara's songs, including Adagio, Mademoiselle Hyde, Love is like a dream, etc. They got to sing duets with each other. Both are incredible artists, multi-lingual, fantastic performers, super emotive on stage. A comparison of Lara's "Adagio" (the LIVE version) to Dimash's (his English was not as good as it is today)would be super interesting. But I would recommend you react to her "Caruso".
