This song will always give me chills. It is such a great performance. Lara is 100% invested in the song and it’s lyrics. I still get heart broken in each listen.
Whats funny to me is the collision of two worlds here. Inside her head, she is not emotional at all. But in total control, almost dead. Thats whats required if you want to perform like this. This has been practiced to death by her, no doubt. Its only after the piece is done when you see her giving herself a moment to actually absorb what just happened. She was still in the zone.
The quivering breaths... And when she drops back to speaking voice like singing doesn't make sense anymore... And when she lowers the mic and kind of shouts out directly to the audience... Just perfect ❤
One of the best live performances ever. Such a shame the video stopped too soon. Seeing her needing so much time to come back out of character was incredible.
Thank you for your comment. I agree that Kansas was a very versatile and talented band that could play different styles of music. They had a unique sound that combined rock, prog, and classical elements. They were one of the best bands of the 1970s and they deserve more recognition. I only wish I knew them before! 😊
I've seen this video so many times and it still makes me cry, and not like a quiet dignified cry, but a full on spontaneous sob. She's amazing and so are you and your channel Beth, thank you.
I know what you mean, Jonathan. This video is so emotional and touching. She’s amazing indeed and her voice and message are so powerful. I’m glad you like this video and my channel. Thank you for your kind words and support. You’re very welcome, Beth. Thank you for watching and commenting.
This song is truly amazing but there's a version of this that is even more amazing. She did this live in 2003 in France I believe. There are a couple of things that happen in that song that are jaw dropping that make it really powerful.
Hi French here :) I am not a big fan of French . But this one …… The lyrics The emotion The acapella Section ^^ The way she sing here is great because she alternate every way of singing . She spoke she hush she ring « hard voice » or sing perfect like angel voice. This live version is really amazing . Perfection .
I'm 55, I met her in a bar in Quebec City in the early 90s, and she took a minute or two to talk to me NICELY!!! I've been a fan since... And I cry every time I hear this (I DON'T cry in life...)... So don't worry, you are just human...This voice and this song are just a combination made in heaven... Like Adagio... ANYONE not feeling their heart break when hearing this, is either a psychopath or on the spectrum...
Thank you Beth for your wonderful reaction to The Goddess Lara Fabian!!...It was many time since your first reaction to her...Please keep going with her amazing performances but remember this: ALWAYS HER LIVE PERFORMANCES!!
I loved your reaction to this. It always makes me cry, no matter how many times I've listened to it. She conveys so much emotion but still sings it flawlessly. And yes, using her breath to convey emotion... brilliantly done!
Sweet Beth, Lara got you with this song as she hit everyone of us each time we listen to the song... so much control, power, amazing storytelling, and adding a cherry, beautiful. Lara is as I always say, a masterpiece on her own. Also, thanks so much for your reaction, your analysis was so precise, perfect.
Thank you, Luis. You’re so sweet. Lara definitely got me with this song. She has so much control, power, amazing storytelling, and beauty. Lara is a masterpiece on her own indeed. I’m glad you liked my reaction and my analysis. Thank you for your comment and support.
The whole concert is a MASTERCLASS in singing and artistry. After this song, she visibly has to get out of her headstate, this song did come from a place deep inside and you feel it, even if you don't speak french, though the lyrics are simply amazing as well.
It was your react, that I liked the most. It's really amazing to see you feel all these ( hers ?) emotions . Still giving technical opinions. It's also the best reaction to this song I've seen. It's fabulous. Thank you for this great moment.
Thank you so much, Vincent! I’m honored that you liked my react the most. It was a very emotional and powerful song. I felt all the emotions that she conveyed with her voice and lyrics. I’m glad you appreciated my technical opinions as well. Thank you for your comment and support.
I am not an expert in music, I only like it and have heard a lot in various languages throughout my 58 yo life and I must say Lara Fabian is to me the very best singer of all times, there's nobody even close to her. it is not only the technicality but also the feeling, the capacity to transmit, the acting behind every performance, there are some that rival her vocal abilities, but the whole package never.
Thank you. I loved your reaction and your analysis. I can't tell you how many times I have watched/listened to this. It is amazing. A masterclass performance. The song is devastating and beautifully sung. I get chills every single time.
I love your breakdown. She literally transported me into her heart. This performance was epic wish I could have been there in person. If I feel this now I know it doesn’t do it justice for the live audience.❤ A palpable expression of heartbreak. When you love deeply your emotions truly go through life altering expressions. It must have been a relief for her. God bless her. May she find her true love.
I am technically incapable of judging her performance; I only feel the emotion she emanates from this very beautiful song by Serge Lama, and it's impressive.
Hi Beth. I think this is the best performance I've ever seen or heard, but I'm sitting here giggling before I watch your reaction because "soothing" isn't exactly a word I would use to describe it. :D Edit: 4:33 as you're talking about emotion, prior to hearing this Laura Branigan was the most emotional connected and driven singer I'd heard, but this edges her out. "Solitaire", "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You", "Ti amo", and "The Power of Love" exemplify Branigan's ability to embody passion in her singing. I'd start with Solitaire or Ti Amo, if you haven't heard any of them. Edit2: I guess I'm live reacting to you now. 5:32, I can see you thinking "that was ridiculously good". Edit3: yes, the a cappella section is stunning. Edit last: I'm most impressed by the variety she displays in this performance. Whispers to massive belts; rasps and cries to perfect clear tones; speaking sections intermixed with singing; embodying the anguish in the song through her voice, body, and acting; a masterfull singer showing off all her abilities, but in service to the song not ego. Absolutely breathtaking performance. Not exactly soothing though. ;)
Wordsworth wrote "Poetry is emotion recollected in tranquility". This is poetry, and then some! You don't need to understand French to feel this woman's pain and sadness by the way Ms Fabian performs. It drives even an grumpy old metalhead to tears, every time he hears her.
Beth, it's always enjoyable to watch a pro react to a pro. When a performance enters your soul, when the emotions bring tears, when your body feels, it is the power of music. Lara is the definition of performance art. If you haven't watched the entire video where her body is shaking and she is so deeply "in the moment", watch it. Then, if you haven't, watch "Adagio" . You'll thank me. Best to you.
The more I listen to this woman singing, the more I realize that she IS indeed the perfectionist. Besides the flood of emotions, it's how she applies her voice. She knows every corner or angle of this song and, as you say, muscle memory is what helps to when, where and how to apply and place her voice at any given point and perfectly. Mixing speech with the everything else she does is as you rightly pointed out, so difficult to do and still not to interfere with any of the storyline and the emotions thereof. I truly don't know of any other singer who does all of what she does, in any song. I say here what I said elsewhere that LARA really should be crowned the Queen of vocalists. She reigns supreme! ...and you, Beth, have done a great reaction, beautifully and honestly. Thank you for highlighting of the different techniques and dynamics encountered in this wonderfully performed piece of music. Looking forward to the next.❤
Thank you for the kind words! It's always a pleasure to discover and appreciate talented performers and their amazing performances. I find it fascinating how music can evoke emotions and connect people from all walks of life, and I feel grateful to be able to share in that experience through reactions and discussions.
Beth Dear I'm SO glad you finally did a video with Lara!. She's just an amazing vocalist, storyteller, she delivers and makes you feel the song. I hope you do more, there's SO much Lara Adagio, Caruso, Je T'aime, and so on and on and on. Love you!
Isn't it amazing? We know she is singing in French and most of us have no idea what she's singing about (there are other video's of this performance with lyrics in English) but it doesn't make any difference. We begin to cry during the song because her delivery is so spectacular she draws us into the emotion of the song with her extraordinarily beautiful voice. This video is from one of her Concert's in 1999 or 2000 and the entire Concert is filled with one sensational performance after another. The audience had to be a weary bunch at the end of the evening. They kept giving her a standing ovation each time. When you watch the end of this incredible production, even the piano player is so into it he almost falls out of his seat when he hits the closing notes!
It truly is amazing! Music has the power to transcend language barriers and touch people's hearts in a way that goes beyond words. Even if we don't understand the lyrics, the emotion conveyed through the singer's voice can be so powerful that it moves us to tears. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this wonderful performance!
Well said. This was the first song of hers that I ever heard, during a skating routine at the 2018 Olympics. I immediately jumped up and had to know who was singing, even though I didn't understand a word other than "je suis". It lead me to this performance and the greatest rabbit hole in existence. I could listen to her all day, in multiple languages, and not care that I didn't understand the words. To this day I still gravitate to her French songs the most. There's no one who can communicate like Lara.
I don't think I remember you reacting to a vocalist like this before. Her voice is quite beautiful. She certainly evokes the French style of the past beautifully in those portions. I should go find the translation.
'Soothing' did you say? 🤣🙃😂 Another Master Class by the the great Lara Fabian. No-one does love and loss better. Riding that fine line between precision and sensitivity whilst expertly conveying emotion, yes, with micro-intentional technical delivery. Lara is a story-teller at heart, as well as a great songwriter and lyricist. This is her cover of a friend's song, yet she so thoroughly inhabits the role that many assume this is her own piece. As you point out; her Drama, her body language, is equally nuanced; with those gestures of vulnerability, the staggering forward, as if overcome, the cry breaths, the savage desperation of that line drawn across the throat, even the slight slurring around the reference to whisky. This is a true Masterpiece. * If you haven't already, please see her 'Caruso'. In my humble opinion, I doubt anyone has done it better. 😉👍
Hey Lin! It's clear that you are a big fan of Lara Fabian and her music. Her ability to convey emotion through her music is truly impressive, and it's easy to see why you consider her a master storyteller. I will definitely check out her cover of "Caruso" as you suggest. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and enthusiasm about her work!
WOW, I love Lara. The emotion touches you. Who needs the lyrics, if you can feel the song. She is living the song. She really connect to the song. It may sound crazy, but i came to listen to Lara, because i was listening to Emma Kok with a cover of 'Voila' (70 million hits on UA-cam). This 15 year old girl sang 'Voila' last year with full orchestra and many reactions said that she was a young Lara Fabian. I love Emma Kok, so i checked out Lara. And yes, i am not disappointed. Lara is amazing and the way she delivers the song is astonishing. It is a compliment for Emma to be called a young Lara. Please check out Emma Kok also. 4 weeks ago she had a new song out 'Dancing on the stars'. I am now a fan of Lara also.
There is something about French vocals that you hear in no other language. I can't really say what it is but it instantly give me goosebumps in even the weirdest places.
I believe it's because of the sounds in our language. The "A" sound for example (and others) can be so strong when sang. We can hear it in this song. When she sings the word "malade" she can do it with so much strenght and emotion, because the sound is "profound" to begin with.
@@ireallyreallyhategoogle Zaz is amazing. Totally different type of voice and overall a totally different vibe. Stylistically I like Zaz more, she is cute, fun, less polished.
You're welcome! I completely agree, this performance is truly a masterpiece. It's so rare to witness such raw talent and energy in a live setting. It's a moment that sticks with you forever. I'm grateful to have been able to experience it and share my thoughts with people who appreciate it as much as I do!
@@BethRoars @Beth Roars Thanks for the note earlier Beth. You are the BEST!!!!!! Mesmerizing our Queen is. You are missing a few Beth (see below). These are from Macadamia who has restored quality sound and video and all have translations (11 languages and all...). ua-cam.com/video/BP2KnLemT78/v-deo.html A man's song...supposedly. Not anymore. "Caruso" Done by many many artists, this Italian classic by Lucio Dalla is a great song, beautiful, about the dying days of the great Enrico Caruso. Done by many, but this is the best version, even Dalla agreed. Luciano Pavarotti did it as well and he did it like all the great male tenors did it, swelling on the high notes majestically...Lara takes a different approach and finishes phrases angelically. Simply flat out hauntingly gorgeous. Caruso, was dying young and leaving a young wife and child behind, he reminisces and says goodbye. A tearjerker scale of 11 out of 10. Dalla, the author, visited the hotel where Caruso and his wife stayed sometimes, the very room. In Sorrento. In the song, Lara sings "Surriento"..not a mistake, fully intentional. Surriento is how a Neapolitan would say it and Caruso was from Napoli. Lara. Misses. Nothing. Enjoy. ua-cam.com/video/mcmhCfH9OfQ/v-deo.html "Perdere l' amore" Another Italian classic. This beloved song has also been done by many. Do not let Lara do your song...game over. Lost love, in middle age, at night trying to be recaptured, rekindled....beautiful song. Our Queen, long may she reign, crushes it. ua-cam.com/video/bqoS-KOLV_4/v-deo.html "Adagio" In English!!!! Originally a classic piece, no lyrics, written by Tomaso Albinoni in the late 1600's (this is disputed). Lara wrote the words and the rest is history. A song of longing for your love, for the love to come in season. Stunning. A masterpiece. Slayed by Lara. Covered now by many (Dimash, Floor Jansen...), our Queen, long may she reign, casts a spell you cannot get out of. Good luck trying to pause it. ua-cam.com/video/kJBGCI8aSE4/v-deo.html "Broken Vow" in English!! Written by Lara. Josh Groban also made it a hit (they are great fans\friends of each other). Our Queen, long may she reign, teaches us how to deal with betrayal. Unfrickingbelieveable. She just kills it. ua-cam.com/video/Vv8XFXKXRLI/v-deo.html "You're not from here" English. Written by Lara. Esoteric...we are not sure if "you" is real or an imaginary love or an ideal. Beautiful. My favorite Lara song. Some really interesting phrasing...stunning...hard to do. ua-cam.com/video/l826rlBOn9w/v-deo.html - ua-cam.com/video/7PZTuXavzS0/v-deo.html - French - "Je T'aime" I love you. There are 2 links. Here is why. The first link is my favorite version of the song. It is known by heart by everybody in France. Written by Lara, it is a very beautiful song and of course she just charms you and takes you where she needs to take you. The second link some have alluded to here, is a performance where her adoring army of fans sing "we love you' to her while she attempts to sing 'I love you" back. I burst into tears every time I see it. My advice is that you watch this second version last...it is now, in Lara world, a love song between her fans and the Queen. Enjoy.
@@justingamble3876Excellent list of great songs, I like your descriptions! Just to add to the Adagio, it is a love song to the powers of inspiration, begging them to not abandon her. It embodies just how important being a songwriter is to her. When you listen with this in mind, it goes to a whole other level of intensity.
I love this performance from Lara but my personal favourite is her version of Lucio Dalla's Caruso, in Italian (Lara's mother was Sicilian) ... it's simply sublime and I'd love to hear your reaction.
“Je suis Malade”, now a french classic, was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973. This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …). When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and compose the music in a couple of hours. The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes. Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad. But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s. At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet. They became good friends. Lara has made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power and Serge Lama adopted these in his later interpretations. The 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal) ua-cam.com/video/eHSyk4SGtuY/v-deo.html is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries. The most recent ones I am aware of are from italian singer Giulia Falcone, from the korean singer Choi Sung Hoon or from the korean band Forestella. Lara is used to perform the song very differently in each of her tour and for instance this 2003 version is even more dramatic ua-cam.com/video/SyILdRAOS88/v-deo.html
Always always always....mesmerizing! This one....and Adagio are my 2 favorites by Lara. Thanks for your genuine reaction. And your insight into her singing techniques. ❤
for those who wish to there is an english subtitled version of this performance available as well... as you watch you can see she's literally being transported into the song & is living every word she sings.... You stopped too soon...At the end when the audience is cheering you actually see her re-enter her body & come back being slightly shocked realizing oh right I'm not alone here there's a moment in the song where the lyrics speak of her pouring her blood into her lover & she symbolically slits her own throat with her thumb..so powerful
It's a shame because I'm a 32 years old french, and this is the first time I hear this song seriously. It became a joke when i grew up, "Je suis malade" means "I'm sick", and every time someone was sick (the flu or other things) and would say "I'm sick", everybody esle would scream "JE SUIS MALAAAAAAAAAADE". I'm really glad rediscovering this song like this
Lara is fantastic, when she sings this song., she makes me crying. She is a. Diva, like Céline Dion, she has a magnificent voice. I love her so much. She is great..she transmit us a big emotions...
@Beth Roars I love the way she starts the piece in character and ends it in character yet it takes her about 2 min to recover after the song has ended.Love Lara and love to you.
Haven't seen a better live performance to this day when it comes to delivering pure emotion, thatrical, the singing, complete package. It's perfect, literally a perfect performance.
OMG Beth your so sweet and so nicely emotional I love your reactions because are totally honest. Once a dearest friend of mine, a wise man, explain me the meaning of that song, he tolds me "imagine to be so deeply in love with someone who didn't give you any attention, you think he is out of your reach, like you don't deserve him, then one day this man decided to look at you and give you somekind of attention, you'll be thinking is like a dream come true and then you discover he didn't care about you, he is only using you for some kind of pleasure without any feeling or love and your feelings are so confused, you are mad with yourself because you still love him, but at the same time your so sad because he didn't loves you as you do, your pain is so strong and deep that hurts also physically....that's is what that song is about". If you watch the lyrics while she's singing, she make a physical interpretation for every word, the gestures she mades are devastating, I can't heard that song without crying, she emotionally drain me.
Thank you, Jemina, for your lovely comment. You are so sweet too. I appreciate your explanation of the song. It’s a very heartbreaking story and I agree that she sings with so much emotion and expression. She makes me feel every word. It’s a very powerful performance.
@@BethRoars thanks for the answer Beth (love your name) there's in youtube a nice video of ADAGIO, with Lara dueting with a little italian boy Cristian Imparato, is really moving and so amazing :) love and kisses from Italy
Thanks for sharing both emotions and reflection on this stunning performance. This is the most divine and complicated singing I ever heard. Totally out of this world. Great reaction ❤
Absolutely beautiful version of such a sad song. We studied the Dalida interpretation in French class in the 80's. Very different sounds. Dalida was a deeper/contralto? mood. This is breathtakingly higher and airier I think. Thanks again for presenting another outstanding singer. ❤❤❤
Since she was one of Dimash's idols growing up, I wonder if he got his habit of holding notes at the end of the song from her. She also worked with Igor Krutoy on Mme. Zhivago in 2010, so that's how Dimash knew about him.
I'm so happy to see you finally come back to Lara, thank you for reacting to this phenomenal performance! I think this is the greatest performance of any song at any time in any place, and is the ultimate example of making someone else's song your own. This concert was part of her introduction to the US audience and the entire thing is a master class. Caruso and You're Not From Here are excellent choices to do next time. And Adagio, her love song to the powers of inspiration, begging them to never abandon her, is so much more than a standard love song. The intensity, the power, the vulnerability, the desperation, it's just incredible and something every vocal coach should experience. It's so powerful and affecting that many others have covered it, but none compare to the original queen. This is how important being a songwriter is to her.
PERFECT Reaction. You do not have to know the words to good music and Lara pulls your heart from your chest! Many of her songs bring a true music lover to tears. Please react to "You're not from here" and bring your tissues.
She is the real beast live. Her performances from the same concert as this song are insane! "Adagio" --> ua-cam.com/video/bqoS-KOLV_4/v-deo.html "You're not from here" --> ua-cam.com/video/Vv8XFXKXRLI/v-deo.html "Perdere l'Amore" in Italian --> ua-cam.com/video/mcmhCfH9OfQ/v-deo.html "Caruso" --> ua-cam.com/video/BP2KnLemT78/v-deo.html "Quédate" in Spanish --> ua-cam.com/video/cX0CPdBV75E/v-deo.html
Ciao 🖐
No matter how often I listen to this performance by Miss Fabian (100 times? 200? I have lost track), I am always shaken by how she physically and vocally manifests the "descent into madness" so apparent in the lyrics. She carries that descent to the last note (watch her mouth at the closing sound). This is a masterpiece.
Oh no they cut the video short. The part where it takes her a while to center herself and land back in the present is quite telling of just how emotionally invested she is
Your comment about how hard it is to sing with emotion is so true ! I tried practicing this song several times but I crack and tear up and let the lyrics get to me too much. Every time. Practice practice ...
Lara acts as a (fabulous) vocal coach nowadays in Star Academy Quebec or France. And she said last year to a contestant: "How to sing an emotional song without impacting your voice? Sing the emotions in your head, feel the emotions in your heart, but keep your throat free! " This decoupling seems easy to her, lol.
Hey Beth, you should definitely listen to it a second time with lyrics and subtitles. I can guarantee it will be emotional x10. And others video will let you see something very interesting about Lara's reaction after the end of the song. It seems this particular video cut before the end.
She's a master. I have been following Angelina Jordan. The reason I mention this is that Lara, like Angelina, was born with that voice. As she mentions somewhere in this incredible concert, she's been able to sing since the age of 5. The difference is the social internet. I was also thinking that there are "sirens" in this world and there are receptors, like me, you surely, and many more. I live with someone who doesn't cry or feel the goosebumps on skin when listening to music. It's pretty much background noise. I am rediscovering music since I retired. Lara was the first one I latch onto . She's still active. I'm so glad I saw your reaction video today❤
Hi Mona! Thank you for watching my reaction video, and I hope you continue to enjoy Lara's music and discover even more artists that resonate with you.
Lara Fabian, my all time female singer, she sings in Spanish my native language, and is the only singer that has moved me to tears. She is coming to Ottawa soon.😁
Lara was born in BELGIUM near Brussels in 1970, from an Italian/Sicilian mother and a Belgian/Flemish father ... Between her 1 and 7 years she was mostly brought up in Italy/Sicily in Italian and French. From the age of 7 she moved to Belgium near Brussels and ran music conservatory in Brussels for 10 years At the age of 16 she recorded her first single At the age of 18, in 1988, she took part in the Eurovision Song Contest where she represented Luxembourg. Lara ended at the 4 th place....Celine Dion , representing Switzerland, won the competition .....Lara and Celine will stay always in a kind of competition from that day. Lara is at the age of 20 when she moves to Canada Quebec with Rick Allison, her boyfriend, mentor/producer/composer. Lara has Belgian and Canadian nationality. Lara is normally French speaking, but she speaks French, Italian, English and Spanish fluently and understands her father's language Dutch very well.... Lara sings in 11 languages and writes lyrics in 4 languages..
I litteraly can not get through this song without crying, no matter how many ties I hear it. For the longest time I though that she was genuinely sick and that was what the song was about, and I was kind of surprised to find out its just a broken heart song.
I'm really happy to see the emotion that lara fabian provokes in you, for me it's the most beautiful voice in the world, maybe I'm not objective since I'm Belgian lol Many Americans have made reaction videos on this song and the emotions are still extremely strong If you like big voices I advise you to watch Maurane, another Belgian singer with an incredible voice.
This song will always give me chills. It is such a great performance. Lara is 100% invested in the song and it’s lyrics. I still get heart broken in each listen.
Totally
Whats funny to me is the collision of two worlds here. Inside her head, she is not emotional at all. But in total control, almost dead. Thats whats required if you want to perform like this. This has been practiced to death by her, no doubt. Its only after the piece is done when you see her giving herself a moment to actually absorb what just happened. She was still in the zone.
If Lara can't move you emotionally, you're a corpse.
Or you know you don't respond to music that way or ASPD
The quivering breaths... And when she drops back to speaking voice like singing doesn't make sense anymore... And when she lowers the mic and kind of shouts out directly to the audience... Just perfect ❤
It's amazing how Lara can combine perfect technique with strong emotion. She's really one of the best.
Truly one of the greatest live performances by any singer I have ever heard. Thanks for reacting!
My favourite live performance of all time from my favourite singer. So happy to hear your reaction.
One of the best live performances ever. Such a shame the video stopped too soon. Seeing her needing so much time to come back out of character was incredible.
I was baffled. Wow, what control.
There are a couple
of things that happen in that song that are jaw dropping that make it really powerful.
Hi French here :) I am not a big fan of French . But this one ……
The lyrics
The emotion
The acapella Section ^^
The way she sing here is great because she alternate every way of singing . She spoke she hush she ring « hard voice » or sing perfect like angel voice.
This live version is really amazing . Perfection .
👏👏👏
Beautiful analysis. A fabulous singer.
One of my absolute favourites!❤
The way she gets into the character of the song and her corporal gestures makes this performance so much touching. Lara it's an angelical human being.
@@BethRoars Dear Beth!! I am honoured by your kind words. Keep on roaring!!! 🦁♥🙌
Where I live (the province of Quebec), she is a legend, since decades ;)
I'll get goosebumps every time I listen to this song. Lara Fabian have a amazing voice. Your reaction videos is always interesting 🎶🎶🖖🖖
The whole concert is a MASTERCLASS in singing and artistry. After this song, she visibly has to get out of her headstate, this song did come from a place deep inside and you feel it, even if you don't speak french, though the lyrics are simply amazing as well.
Well, I guess this is the most emotional storytelling performance I've ever watched and listened to. Beautiful and touching.
I'm a french heavy metal singer and this performance is incredible, i can't help but cry when she sings 🙏
Still impossible to listen, without crying. I'm 60, French, I understand those lyrics. She's unbelievable.
This is one of the most beautiful, powerful performances I've ever seen. Rips your heart out 😎
Couldn't agree more!
Oh I really enjoyed your reaction. Got goosebumps and teared up with you even thought is like my 100th watch of this performance it never gets old.
If I feel this now I know it doesn’t do it justice for the live audience.❤
A palpable expression of heartbreak.
When you love deeply your emotions truly go through life altering expressions. It must have been a relief for her. God bless her. May she find her true love.
No one just opens themselves and bleeds on the stage like Lara Fabian--and nowhere moreso than this performance of this song.
Nice to see you back for a Lara Fabian reaction, after 4 years. Hope you will follow Eric's list of songs from Lara ❤
Love Lara ❤
Love from Denmark ❤
.Lara is the only singer on planet earth to sing from her soul to our soul.
Edit: 4:33 as you're talking about emotion, prior to hearing this Laura Branigan was the most emotional connected and driven singer I'd heard, but this edges her out.
Very nicely said! ( I am old and grumpy too!)
When Lara sings many of her songs like this, she has a special way to portray and a deep feeling of "Tragedy" IMO.
I love watching you react to great performances and performers !
I hope you do more, there's SO much Lara
Adagio, Caruso, Je T'aime, and so on and on and on.
Love you!
She also reacted to Parce Que Tu Pars quite a while ago.
Oh Lara! Always giving us the goosies! Impeccable performer! 🌷🌷🌷
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this wonderful performance!
it's beautiful that she has that ability ! When you understand what she is saying, it's even better. This song, by Serge Lama is a masterpiece.
Have you ever heard Zaz, another extraordinary french singer.
@@BethRoars 😊
I love Lara's voice and your beautiful accent too. ❤❤
It's a very "musical" language if you will.
I believe it's because of the sounds in our language. The "A" sound for example (and others) can be so strong when sang. We can hear it in this song. When she sings the word "malade" she can do it with so much strenght and emotion, because the sound is "profound" to begin with.
Not the places we want to go sorry
Have you ever heard Zaz, another extraordinary french singer.
@@ireallyreallyhategoogle Zaz is amazing. Totally different type of voice and overall a totally different vibe. Stylistically I like Zaz more, she is cute, fun, less polished.
I swear, I thought you reacted to this ages ago ! 🇨🇦
😢 if this doesn't move you to tears you literally have NO Soul xxx This is utterly beautiful xxx❤❤❤😢
Thank you Beth. So great to have someone with knowledge watch this masterpiece. For me - the best live performance I have ever seen, anywhere...ever.
That's not even close to this
I'm stunned. What an amazing talent.
The 1999 version ("From Lara with Love" Concert in Montreal)
ua-cam.com/video/eHSyk4SGtuY/v-deo.html
is legendary internationally and has attracted many artists to do a cover, even from non french-speaking countries.
The most recent ones I am aware of are from italian singer Giulia Falcone, from the korean singer Choi Sung Hoon or from the korean band Forestella.
Lara is used to perform the song very differently in each of her tour and for instance this 2003 version is even more dramatic
ua-cam.com/video/SyILdRAOS88/v-deo.html
How lucky we are to be able to get emotional with such a brilliant interpretation. Lara Fabian is huge!!
We love Lara ❤
Always always always....mesmerizing! This one....and Adagio are my 2 favorites by Lara. Thanks for your genuine reaction. And your insight into her singing techniques. ❤
She lives the songs !
I love Lara!! She such an amazing performer. She sings exactly like her video. Got to see her perform in chgo a couple years ago. ❤
for those who wish to there is an english subtitled version of this performance available as well...
as you watch you can see she's literally being transported into the song & is living every word she sings....
Lara is The Queen, she is an angel, I love her so much 💖
Lara brings tears to the eyes of anyone listening, eh? I haven't listened to Lara for about a year...how so? On my playlist again!!!😊
Muy bonita reacción, Lara es fenomenal, no hay palabras para describir su extraordinario talento.
Absolutely beautiful version of such a sad song. We studied the Dalida interpretation in French class in the 80's. Very different sounds. Dalida was a deeper/contralto? mood. This is breathtakingly higher and airier I think. Thanks again for presenting another outstanding singer. ❤❤❤
Dalida merci!!!
Since she was one of Dimash's idols growing up, I wonder if he got his habit of holding notes at the end of the song from her. She also worked with Igor Krutoy on Mme. Zhivago in 2010, so that's how Dimash knew about him.
Impressionante como a Lara simplesmente não desafina, não sai do tom, nem nada. É impecável!
So emotional performance....very very emotional
I agree 😭
@@BethRoars ....yes, even when the song was finished...she was still in that emotion. incredible interpretation
Beautiful reaction that touches on the technical and emotional, just like the performance!
Thanks so much for your continued support and lovely comments! Hope you are well :)
I've been Obsessed with this song for a month! Loved your reaction!
This song when translated from French has the most amazing lyrics.
It has powerful lyrics in French
Just a great, thoughtful and informative reaction to this classic by Lara❤
PERFECT Reaction. You do not have to know the words to good music and Lara pulls your heart from your chest! Many of her songs bring a true music lover to tears. Please react to "You're not from here" and bring your tissues.

Lara lives her music she is her music and that makes her so special
The point is: even if you don't understand the lyrics, the emotion is totally transfered.
Je t’aime lara je n est jamais reçu autant de charge émotionnelle d ou tu a sorti cette chanson exceptionnellement bien interprété bravo
Oh no they cut the video short. The part where it takes her a while to center herself and land back in the present is quite telling of just how emotionally invested she is
extraterrestrial.... beautiful!
This decoupling seems easy to her, lol.
Hey Beth, you should definitely listen to it a second time with lyrics and subtitles. I can guarantee it will be emotional x10.
And others video will let you see something very interesting about Lara's reaction after the end of the song. It seems this particular video cut before the end.
Yes, the end fills the final cup of emotions.
I believe that Beth speaks French.
i love how you react, first emotional and then tchnical, great job !
Lara Fabian lives every songs she sings. That's why she's exceptional.
Fabulous reaction, she rocks this woman does
Amazing singer ❤
nice too see your emotions , i think she is one of the best singers/storytellers in the world
Lara Fabian, my all time female singer, she sings in Spanish my native language, and is the only singer that has moved me to tears. She is coming to Ottawa soon.😁
It has been my distinct pleasure to have seen her twice in concert. I agree with all you say Beth. She is Belgian and Italian.
Lara was born in BELGIUM near Brussels in 1970, from an Italian/Sicilian mother and a Belgian/Flemish father ...
Between her 1 and 7 years she was mostly brought up in Italy/Sicily in Italian and French.
From the age of 7 she moved to Belgium near Brussels and ran music conservatory in Brussels for 10 years
At the age of 16 she recorded her first single
At the age of 18, in 1988, she took part in the Eurovision Song Contest where she represented Luxembourg.
I'm a 42 year old man who's been through this very song. Everytime I hear it, it's fresh. Lara Fabian is a masterclass here.
Lara with experience masters breath control it is remarquable waht a talented performer.
I litteraly can not get through this song without crying, no matter how many ties I hear it.
For the longest time I though that she was genuinely sick and that was what the song was about, and I was kind of surprised to find out its just a broken heart song.
I'm really happy to see the emotion that lara fabian provokes in you, for me it's the most beautiful voice in the world, maybe I'm not objective since I'm Belgian lol
Many Americans have made reaction videos on this song and the emotions are still extremely strong
If you like big voices I advise you to watch Maurane, another Belgian singer with an incredible voice.
