Such a fab sensory board I am About to make one for our busy 15 month old little boy.hes into switches plugs and all sorts.i am taking alot of inspiration from your board.thankyou
Hi, glad you liked the build. For the hardware you can just use whatever you have lying around your house and is baby safe. You can always find more details on my builds over on my blog. www.hestershandmadehome.com/hestershandmadehome/busyboard
I enjoyed this video a lot, because I'm trying to design a busy board... With your experience the steel pieces or sharp edges can not hurt the baby hands or head if he's playing alone or 2 siblings are playing beside it? Note: 0 years of experience as a father Lol
Hi, I haven't had any problems with sharp edges as my baby/toddler was pretty gently with the board. If you are worried maybe don't use the hinges as they have sharp corners and just use other chains/zips/buttons/bells instead. Let me know how you get on with the build :D
Hi, do you mean its not safe as the door can open? That door we rarely used so she was safe playing there :) You can hang the busy board on the wall too if that would be a concern. In the video it shows that the board is detachable so when not in use I would take it off the door but it was very securely attached on hooks at the top and bottom of the board. Hope this answered your questions.
Nice idea. However, I think that some of your hardware is too hard and other pieces also have the potential for hurting your baby's little fingers. I'd go more for softer things and toys that you can attach for a child at that age. Use the harder objects for when the child is older. Always do things appropriate to their age.
Hi, thanks for your feedback. I think it's important to use items you think are right for your child and you feel comfortable your child playing with. What would you use on you busy board?
Hi Ruth, thank you for your concern. You can adjust your board to just have items on you think are safe for your child. And always supervise your child when playing with the board. You could make one with just laces and mirrors or maybe even fabric pieces? So much fun stuff you can stick on a board :D
Just checked, Woodglut has a $67 cost to even look. I think Ill stay with this one. HandmadeHome thank you for making it look so easy. Family childcare here and I am always looking to be creative and save money too.

If you stick it to the door, is that safe? And when you open and close the door, is that still safe?🤔

How thick is the sheet of wood?
Mine is 9mm thick
What’s the thickness in the plywood?
I would suggest using 6mm plywood
Please where did you buy the board from?
Hi, I buy my plywood at my local DIY shop or lumber yard
