Really enjoyed this one. I love seeing a solution to a seemingly difficult problem. Well done!

Thanks for showing this process start to end. We just moved a floor vent in a small bathroom and then got a seamless drywall vent to match. Only catch was I had to basically manufacture a 4x10 vent out of a 6x10

AWESOME work Steve! Love the ingenuity and making sense out of nonsense. Noticed that in your previous videos too. Also wish Atlanta and Pittsburgh (if I am not mistaking) were closer geographically. I would apply for “apprenticeship” asap. It seems that you could be a great coworker and a friend. Thanks for sharing and All the best.

How did you cover the floor after vent indtallation was done?

Dang, I've got this same change to make, but my joist is parallel to the wall I'm working on, not perpendicular. Puzzling out how to deal with the hole in the floor in that situation.

How much would you estimate hiring someone to do this might run? I have 2 bathrooms upstairs that need this. My small toilet room upstairs has a vent on the floor and water runs into it when my toilet has overflowed. We just bought the home and I noticed this must've been an issue before because I just noticed the area ceiling under my bathroom is stained yellow from the bathroom flooding above. Is this going to be a much bigger issue than just moving the vent?😖 The drywall isn't soft or anything [yet], just stained pretty bad

Thanks a bunch. I thought 'we' were not supposed to run vents against an exterior wall and thus get rid of the insulation. That would not do where I live ... but I have a similar project coming up on an interior wall. Did you video the subfloor rebuild? I couldn't see the seam in the 3 seconds post-install. Did you end up replacing a whole sheet>?

Hi, where did you get that between-the-studs register boot? I can't seem to find one. Thanks for the video!
UPDATE: It's called an Oval Stack Head with Wings... only found a couple of places that sell it!

And thank you! Made it a single-click order for me instead of 30min figuring out what the darn things are called!

Do you think I can move my floor vent to the ceiling?
Because cold air always stays at the bottom and my room is always hot. I was thinking If I can redirect it and run it from behind the wall and place it on the ceiling it would be working efficiently.

    • @bubunelu7027

Sounds like a cheaper and less labor intensive alternative job would be a ceiling fan to circulate the air in that room.

You may have mentioned it in the video. But why change it?

Sometimes you have to retro fit some ducting. Hvac guys are just mad you didn’t call them and pay $1000 to extend some registers.

Think that would been better if it was coming out of an interior wall. You just sacrificed insulation...

What other solution would you suggest here? That wouldn't require tearing the whole floor to move things around? looks like a pretty small bathroom with a tub & small doorway on the other. Genuine question because I have a similar set-up problem to the one in the video.

I'm not an HVAC guy, just a DiY'er but even I had to laugh at just shoving a 5" fitting inside a 6" fitting and using some foil tape to seal it up. Terrible solution. Do not do shoddy work like that. It does not take a whole lot of time or effort to do the work correctly and no, it does not cost a fortune.
