Not many players anymore. For me I live close to GW HQ in America, I may have left the game but never the fluff. The world building is still my favorite, second only to Tolkien.
Mechwarrior fluff, the clans are self defeating. Star league ripped itself apart. The great houses post exodus? The imperium isn't exactly a model of government to follow, but battletec factions seem to put effort in screwing themselves with maybe diamond shark being an exception.
I find it so cool that righteous hate and regular hate are two different emotions in 40k. Maybe the taint of disgust ruins it for korne, perhaps it is that type of hate that is in fact extreme love for humans and humanity above all else. I love how many loyalists lose themselves yet do not fall.
We all enjoy the Gods of War moments the Astartes show in battle but it's those Champions of Humanity moments that leave me loving 40k lore. When angels rain hell on the enemy. Yeah man.
Damn, this brings back memories. I bought my first WH40K book at a Barnes and Noble about 3 years ago it was titled "Space Marine". It had a lot of short stories in it, from Chaos Space Marines, to Loyalist, and from many Chapters. This short story was in it and is my favorite but I couldn't remember the title. In the first 3 minutes I knew what story it was. I almost wanted to read along with you.Thank you so much for bringing this to life with your amazing voice acting. I still have that book on my shelf.
The scout sergeant had been the Chaplins instructor while he was still in the scout companies and yet was still a veteran of the first company. The wisdom of one of the emperors terminators is respected even if he wears scout armor.
I loved it when my parents read to me as a child. It’s probably the reason why I enjoy audiobooks so much. My children are too young for these kinds of stories…on the other hand, their mothers reads the original version of fairytales to them. In old German nonetheless. Coming to think of it…some of those stories are as, or even more, brutal than most of 40k…
Decimated... losses stood at 46%. >.< I like your non European accent for Noclitan. Nice range, man! I've always envisioned the crimson fists as Hispanic (pedro, Cortez) but it's nice to hear a multi cultural range of marines. The horus heresy novels sound like everyone is from the same three Burroughs in England.
yeah well i am not attempting a spanish or mexican accent. thing is with space marines they come generally from different worlds etc and are selected at puberty so they will pick up and retain some of their native accent. thats my reasoning.
@@ABorderPrince Yeah, fair call. Some of the chapters recruit from all over, like the imperial fists. Some a much smaller cultural set, like the salamanders. Even so, a single world can have many different accents. Keep up the good work, my job would be boring as hell without you!
@@ABorderPrince Definitely a good call on not attempting those accents. In this overly sensitive age, people take offense at just about everything (including the very act of taking offense at just about everything), and it would be a real shame to see talent such as yours cast aside like the II and XI Legions just because a particular creative choice done solely for literary flair is misconstrued by some viewers as mockery or denigration of a particular group. Heck, even if you could do an impeccable Spanish or Mexican accent that would earn even praise from natives of those countries in its convincing authenticity and realism, you'd STILL have some folks taking issue with this just because you aren't of Spanish or Mexican extraction. So it's definitely best to leave things as they are. Sure, a Spanish or Mexican-accented Astartes would indeed sound bloody awesome... as would the prospect of a Space Marine who DOESN'T sound like an Englishman from a few select counties in Albion or a random American (albeit never one from the South, incidentally. The Southerners all end up in the Arkhan Confederates Imperial Guard regiment, I guess...)
One of my favorites. Squad Demetrius, what a bad ass squad. Even the guard were bad ass, good ole Dace and general ulvarian. My favorite line "Throne....a chaplain". Bad ass quiet toma and his inquisition sanctioned acid shells
I've come back to this one over and over since I first heard it by your rendition! Thankee kindly, sirrah. That moment where he whispers to the strangling ork, followed by his moment with Tommah transformed my vision of space Marines, the chaplainsy, and grimdark war of the far far future on a whole. Takes me back to the old highschool days of storytelling white wolf games with the boys over weekends as well. Halcyon, gold, in the good ol by n bye. Good on you bud. Keep at it.
"Brothers, brethren, children of the imperial experiment. Now you stand before me, grown. Now you see the hand that writes the law". Lorgar paused, surrounded by the chapter masters of every loyalist legion. He raised his fist ceremonially, they were pale and wrought hands in contrast with the deep and bloodied red armour. "what is etched upon my skin, my armour tomb, my eternal sarcophagus?" bellowed lorgar with a frightening fury. Rogal Dorn was quick to hiss his legion into silence, mockingly returning his gaze at Lorgar. "what is the point of this facade, am I to be impressed?" said guilliman softly smiling at his brother. Lorgar drew a scroll from within a tarnished leather satchel that rested on the brutal engravings of a ludicrously wide chest plate "this unelected manuscript is the basis for the foundation of your current and established doctrine" He glance from left to right menacingly as if to assert his message. "these here unassuming words littering an ancient rag are words written by my hand, and you will see with all your sight that they are similar" he smiles, his black eyes gleem. "and then you will study these with your imperial literacy so well you will find they are identical" Drops mic

@Anirban Chakrabarti sometimes the plan is just the right way to say, "how everything was meant to be". The Hydra is in many places. Lol Or some shit like that.
There is one thing I don't like about this story. The sons of Dorn's chaplains are charged to never remove their skull masks in the presence of anyone. They can do it only in times of great need. The fact that he removed it on a whim for a human is disturbing.
"I hate you" Loved this line and the mental image it painted. Its nice to see ADB making the loyalist semi competent, he normally makes them meh at best.
