I've recently had my 3rd set of injections. I have chronic multiple types of migraine including aura... They've very much affected my life.. They do tend to be worse due to where I live - high altitude with Chinooks. Although they've not disappeared, the improvements have been so much better and I am so grateful that my Doctor referred me AND that my insurance covers this treatment! 🥰

After having a Thunderclap headache last year and afterwards having daily headaches for just over a year I hope this treatment will work. On the positive side having daily headaches are better than what the doctor were looking for in the Emg. Glad they did not find any tumors or aneurysms.

I'm suffering from migraine and im having features of this .not only headache lose of memory not interested in things difficulty in understanding difficulty to live with my destroyed brain . Brain is completely not working. Even thinking remembering .

Good explanation about botolunium injection for migraine ..10 questions are very useful to get idea about why we need it whom may need how long it lasts like... really central sensitization issues are chronic leads to permanent issue and disability .....my suggestions is mindfullness meditation ..is a key to reduce its frequency allodynia too...thank you for rocking again dr andrea ....

I don't know about in Canada, but in the UK the mark up for cosmetic injectables is wild imo. For example, I checked how much a vial of neurotoxin costs, and it was around £40 - £80 depending on brand. But for 1 treatment with a vial (one area) is typically £200 - £300 in 2023). I also checked and training to administer neurotoxins like 'Botox' are usually 1 day course + eLearning for foundation and another 2 day course for Advanced areas (courses cost around £1,200 total!) So basically, most of the cost is markup and 'expertise'. Costs for migraine treatment with a neurotoxin is significantly more (£1000 and over) and not realistic for the average person considering that you have to get it done every 2 -3 months!
Botox for migraine isn't cosmetic so insurance should cover it? I got charged 20

I've had botox 3 times now for chronic daily headaches. I don't think I have migraine but my doc thinks I have NDPH with migraine features. I think I may have cervicogenic headache. I wonder if I should stop to see if it's actually making my neck pain worse. Could this be happening?

Unfortunately I have to disagree. At least in my situation. I have strengthened my upper body, shoulders and neck for years now. I have Cerviogenic Headaches due to Cervical Facet Syndrome. This has NOT worked at all. I wish it did. It's best to consult a sample size of chronic pain population with this condition to make a better determination on what may or may not help. I go for Botox in my Occipital region this coming week. Having spoken to quite a few people through Reddit community with this condition have similar experiences with strengthening. It may work for some and not for others. Sadly it would be wonderful if that was the remedy but now injections are one of the last alternatives.
I paid 700 € for 4 injections by a surgeon ! Is it normal ?
The price is different in many parts of the world.
