Absolutely give it a few rounds and if you have a rough next few days, just know that is completely normal! It's been several years of Botox treatments and I still plan on random migraines/headaches/pain the first 10 days (although it usually only lasts the first few days.) Best wishes and prayers that you will get some relief.

I thought the same thing at first, but read and researched, then found out that it dies take a few rounds for some of us, there are some lucky ones who get relief sooner. It is worth it for me! I just had a round on Tuesday, the 18th and slept the rest of the day, had a migraine on Wednesday, and slept a lot. I'm feeling much better today, which is Friday. As Katie said, the first 10 days or so, can be a bit bumpy, but once it starts doing its thing, it's amazing. I truly had forgotten what life is like without chronic migraines. It's sweet to not hurt and not have to try to make it through an event while feeling so bad.
I hope your journey with botox helps you get your pain under control and even gone!

I get dysport in my upper face, not for headaches but I have observed the benefit of fewer headaches since I have had it. I used to get eye twitching from stress and I haven't experienced it since. I haven't had any negative side effects from dysport. if your fiancee gets migraines they will probably inject it into the forehead as well as the area past the temples, the back of the head and the shoulders. neuromodulators (botox, dysport, xeomin etc) are excellent and have applications beyond the cosmetic

Thank You so much for sharing! I started my Botox journey last year and I'm on set number 3. I'm now seeing a huge difference, which is exciting. Sounds a little crazy, but knowing that I'm not missing days of my life, is wonderful. I notice about 9 weeks after injections, they start to wear off. I had tried everything before going to Botox. I'm allergic to Triptans and Emgality. I was tired of being experimented on and being in daily migraine pain. For me, only a few places hurt while being injected.... shoulders and face=ouch, but worth it!
Do you have any, I guess, side effects could be the word, after injections?
I get sleepy and will get a migraine the next day, but after that---heaven, relief etc. When I do get a migraine, it's very manageable and I don't usually have to take pain meds. It took me years before I agreed to try botox.
I've had migraines since I was 3. As a teen and beyond, I tried every natural remedy I could, lavender was a no go,because I'm deathly allergic to it. Finally, I had a migraine with kaleidoscope vision and decided Dr was necessary. Then, that was experiment after experiment of different meds. Thank God that I was at the Dr's still when I was given a triptan. I stopped breathing.. scary! I now suggest botox to other chronic migrainers, rather than go through multiple meds to find one's that work. I'm still surprised how well botox has helped me. Not having that daily migraine is wonderful, and getting one, is manageable the majority of the time. No more waking up and waiting to see if I'm going to be sidelined by a migraine and have to suffer through things---I refused to miss any of my girl's games, events etc, but it was so painful.
What do you think about the sound of the needle going in? At first it creeped me out! 🤣 so weird...
Thank You again for sharing. I'm going to share with some friends and family, so they understand more!

      Carol,
I'm so glad you're seeing improvement with Botox! It is an indescribable gift to get your life back. I too have tried several medications, devices, natural remedies, etc. and had very little improvement. I'm glad we were both able to start receiving Botox!
Yes, I do have side effects after my injections. The first few days are the worst, but I expect that for up to 10 days after, I could get random migraine/headache/throbbing pain. Usually the first few days I'm really sore at the points of injection. I'm also prone to more migraines/headaches and am very tired.
The needle going in... I should have mentioned that because it is such a strange and creepy sound! VERY very weird, I agree.
I'm so glad this video could help you and more importantly, that your migraines have improved and are manageable when they hit. Best wishes for you and thank you for your comment! :)

I use the Botox for migraine savings copay card I filled out on line and it costs me 245 every 3 months and the cost card covers 1,000 to pay the difference. My last migraine that led me to get Botox for migraines lasted 43 days. It was 24 seven for 43 days with vomiting and light sensitivity. I literally was living in the dark with black out glasses in my house..
along with taking Zofran and pain pills and nothing was touching it until the Botox two weeks after the Botox the migraine subsided and I get breakthrough migraines but only maybe three a month and they are tolerated with an ice migraine cap and Excedrin and sometimes blackout classes . I have fibromyalgia and I feel pain very easily on top of the migraines so my appointment for the shots is so stinking painful but it’s the only way to be able to function.. thank you for sharing your experience

I'm so SO sorry you had a migraine that lasted that long. That sounds miserable. It's amazing what a difference Botox makes compared to pain pills- it has been totally life changing. I'm thrilled you've had a great experience with Botox. I also have fibromyalgia and agree about the shots hurting. 😖 Small price to pay though to have migraines free days.

I've been getting chronic migraines since I was 8. I'm now in my 50s. I've been getting botox for 5 years now and it's the only thing that has helped me. I dp have a copayment that the botox savings program doesn't pay for which is $150.00 from the insurance. They consider it as surgery. I'm wondering if anyone else's neurologist office puts it down as surgery code? The botox savings company use to puck it up, but the past 2 years they haven't. I get 38 to 40 injections. Mine are so bad that I get it done every 10 weeks instead of every 12 weeks. Some insurances allow you to get it done every 10 weeks. Mine seem to wear off 2 to 3 weeks before my 12 weeks was up. I noticed you got some in the back of your head. My neurologist has never done that until this last time I had it done and she only did it on one side. I have a autoimmune disease which causes me to have chronic optical migraines and this one nerve in the back of my head and neck kills me. I'm hoping the botox helps 🙏in this area as well. For me the pain is uncomfortable, but it's worth it not to have a migraine everyday of my life. If you struggle with chronic migraines and tried everything like me and nothing has worked I say give botox a try. One thing to say is you won't notice until you 3rd time. Don't do botox one time and quit. My neurologist started off slow and by the 3rd time he told me I'd notice and he was 100% right. His PA now gives them to me and she's just as good.

Thank you for this comment!!! I really appreciate the details you gave about your own experience. I don't think my neurologist runs botox as a surgery code because I still have a portion covered by the botox savings program. I'm so happy it has helped you and hopefully the nerve in the back od your head will relax with botox!

Migraine has made my life a misery for years. It’s looking like I’ll get Botox but because of the money saving rules in Britain I have to suffer for another two months before I’m allowed to have it. It’s wrecking my life and career so I can’t wait! The ocular disturbance is awful.
