- Stephan Sterns, the boyfriend of Florida teen Maddie Soto's mom, has been charged in her murder nearly 8 weeks after she vanished. Maddie disappeared on February 25, shortly after photos showed her celebrating her 13th birthday with friends. Sterns also faces dozens of sex crimes charges. While Sterns faces a murder charge, questions remain about Maddie's murder and whether other people were involved. Law&Crime's Angenette Levy looks at the questions that remain with retired NYPD cold case sergeant Joe Giacalone in this episode of Crime Fix - a daily show covering the biggest stories in crime.

It may not be a chargeable offence, but it shows deception.
At a minimum they could charge her for neglect, and ramp up from there as more evidence is confirmed.

If only my mom had the same judgment as you. Based upon what I went through as a kid, this could've easily been me. Parents have exactly 1 job: Keep their kid(s) safe. She did not do that effectively at all and put her desire to have men around above the safety and comfort of her children. She has since apologized for it, but I'm still left to pick up the pieces as an adult because the damage has already been done. I don't understand women like this. I really don't.

There is, and I wish I hadn't found out about them. They literally haunt me. Make me sick. I truly wish I had never seen the documentaries. I can't watch documentaries about crime on children anymore. It's too disturbing and I have children too. This world is full of evil people. Namaste.

Gannon Stauch's dad married a monster, and she brutally murdered Gannon and drove miles away to dispose of his body.
Parents need to do better at protecting their children and maybe having talks with their children to let them know that if they're being abused that they need to tell a trusted adult.

The fact he said she was asleep on the way to school makes me think she was already dead in the car. That is so sad. I’m a recently single mom and have this conflict between a natural desire to have a love life but always needing to have a watchful eye over who’s around my daughter. Unlike the comments judging moms who date, I’ll just say definitely teach your daughters early that it’s safe to come to you if anyone ever touches them in the wrong way and never ever leave your child alone with a man they aren’t related to, that’s just my opinion because it’s not reasonable for everyone to never find love again but we have to be careful
