Starship Booster 7 Downcomer Failure Deep Dive

- Have you been wondering what happened to Booster 7's downcomer? Check out this footage of the moment the collapse occurred. This highlights what I believe to be a simple procedural error by SpaceX and not an actual design flaw. Hopefully the surgery of B7 will be a success and they will be able to resume testing within the next few weeks!

This is an exceptional breakdown, and identifying/showing the exact moment it collapsed is amazing! This is a top-notch start for your channel!
Ĺllll
"Booster 7 covid test" Nice one Zack
Max Q came up with that on the day, I agree, spot on.
This is your format, you bring expertise that no one else in the community has, absolutely unique analysis. Keep it up Zack
uhhhh, a STAR is born?! you killed it!
Zack, this is exactly what I've been looking for to answer the huge mess of questions in my head. Great job, more please!!
This is an amazing breakdown. I would've never gussed what moment it happened at. Great job!
I'm convinced you found the exact moment that downcomers collapsed, good job!
The work put in to get specific shots already puts this show ahead of many other SpaceX news channels. Great update!
Zak, you have a nice style, good content, logical thinking backed by fact or stated speculation of theory. Enough to subscribe to see how future videos go. Good luck with your channel. Stay true. Robert
you nail it. RGVs photo reviews would be half as interesting without his contributions.
There is lots of starbase coverage but nothing like this, you have something special here for sure. Looking forward to your future uploads.
Nice catch with the moment of the downcomer collapse. I think you nailed it. Looking forward to more of these videos!
Bro, Sherlock Holmes would be proud of your analysis, using both audio and visual to show your audience how you come to your conclusions helps in a convincing manner. Kudos to the new inspector gadget.
More fun than I expected, keep up the good work 😀
Love it Zach!!!! Can't wait for episode 2!!!!!
This was a very excellent video. Great job. Please do more of them in future :)
This is great observation without any official insite and it's crazy you guys notice so much details. Rocket nerds 🚀
I won't complain about more Starship content.
Awesome Video!!
Good job on the first video. I like how you have your thoughts organized as opposed to the live streams when you get pulled in a lot of different directions by viewer questions and comments.
That is some very impressive analysis and logical investigation. Well done. Hopefully SpaceX will make a "Are you sure you want to do this Dave?" warning for future proof tests.
"Go easy" on you? No need! This was an Excellent analysis. I expect to see more, so I subbed.
Excellent addition to my Starship Addiction! Thank you SO much!
That is high end commentary! Definitely looking forward to more!
Great content and excellent analysis. I appreciate that this is presented with a lot of detail and without a lot of fluff. "CSI Starbase" indeed! Looking forward to more.
This is the best Spacex video where the observation, description and analysis make sense. Looking forward to your next and all your other videos.
Omgg, you could literally hear and see the ice fall off as it collapsed
Change nothing. You hit all elements of a good video and analysis in your opening volley. Looking forward to future videos!
I love this format, great job for sure. Nice catch on the demise of the downcomer. Keep up the great work.
Sub-belled inside 4 min....
Excellent commentary with a refreshing vocab arsenal. I don't remember when I last heard the word Malarkey! Here's one of several observations: You have a ready grasp of basic structural dynamics and you saw past the "wow that's a lot of trucks" moment and understood the deducible import. You also gave appreciative credit where others' invaluable contributions occurred. None of us would have any of this without their dedication and perseverance.
The OLM post baffles may be left open for concrete - a lot of Hell goin' on right there from time to time...
Hey Zack. Awesome job getting answers to the big question we all have. Something other sites don’t really do. The quality of your content is that good don’t worry about how long they run…. Looking forward to seeing your next update. 🙂
I love this in-depth analysis!!! Keep it up, this is a shining gem of the space commentary community!
OK, I'm old. I didn't follow you on Twitter, nor on Lab Padre. This is the first time I've seen you. I'm HOOKED! Thanks for this deep dive; your explanations all make sense!
Sir Zack. This is it. Change little to nothing. Immediate subscribe. No doubt this will reach over 100k in no time. One love from Jamaica.
175th sub! Just making a note here because I have no doubt you will have 100k in a year or so. Excellent work, sir!
Great detective work - enjoyed every moment. The fact that it "looks easy", is a testament to just how good it is. Thanks - Peter.
As usual, the way you break things down make it so easy to understand. So thank you for this and glad you are doing this now!!! Finally got a chance to finish the video. Superb job
Thanks Zack, this is the show I’ve been looking for. I love the airfield photography review show, but often it’s a bit long for me so find myself skipping forward a lot, this condensed, more focused type presentation is awesome. Also, you are a great presenter, very clear to understand. More please.
Unusually in depth Starship content!
Also, great background music!
SUPER video - looking forward to the next episode :-) Sending
I'm glad to add this to my channel lineup for space flight updates. Keep up the deep dives.

Subscribed! Great analysis
Good job for episode 1!
Amazing work for first ever YT video!!
I don't want to go through all these comments to see if someone already addressed this so I'll just go ahead.
The reason for two basket filters is, probably, not for a primary and a backup but rather reducing resistance to the propellant flow. The filters would act as constrictions just as electrical resistors act as constrictions to electrical current. So, as resistors in parallel lowers the resistance to the flow of current, these basket filters in parallel lowers the resistance to the flow of propellant.
They designed the feed lines without the filters so this seems like a hacked up work-around to solve a problem quickly and cheaply without having to rip out and replace everything.
First time I watched your video, really enjoyed it.
Great video! Interesting to see in depth what's going on at starbase
Great job!
