We've waited eight months for this day. Finally, we can park the camper on the land, specifically in the shop. This day happened on December 1st. I'm typing this on the morning of December 11th, and we still do not have electricity. We've been powering the camper off a generator, which isn't a huge burden, but we will be glad when we don't have to listen to it nonstop. In real-time, electricity is scheduled to be installed tomorrow or the next day if it's dry enough. Since moving into the shop, we've had one night when the outside temperature dropped to 19 degrees, but it stayed about 40 degrees inside. Even on the coldest winter days here in Mississippi, I don't see a scenario where it gets below freezing inside. The current plan (which changes almost daily) is to keep the camper parked in the shop through the cold of winter. Once it starts to warm up, the camper will be moved to behind the shop, and we will work on our second-story lofted apartment inside the shop. The woodworking side of the shop will be a slow setup process. Of course, we still need electricity. First, I need to figure out a scissor lift situation to install lighting. Then, I could use the lift to collect the dust and electrical drops. At that point, I can move the machines into position.
We just had a shop built over the summer with a similar metal structure. We understand the obstacles and the excitement, so happy for you and the family. I also knew that I would be up in the ceiling often, so I picked up a used scissor lift off of GovPlanet for $1500 (Model is Genie GS1930). It's been an awesome help so far.
So so cool, the excitement in your facial expression is palpable. Stay safe, keep plugging away-just so cool and excited for you and your family! Oh, and if I would have been backing that trailer in that space you would have celebrated your 95th birthday before I got it in there...😆
Congrats and well done. Moving on the property full time IS a significant step. I have been waiting for this day for quite some time. But it is finally here. About my only critique is I would have gone from using the truck to the tractor far earlier than you did. When I am parking my trailer in the garage, I do the swap almost as soon as the wheels are inside. I can just see so much better and am so much more maneuvarable using my tractor. But it is in! This will be a day long remembered. Now go celebrate.
Well done, apart from all the mud on Jamie's clean floor.😊 You may need to knock up some shelves to get the stuff off the floor and make easier to find stuff.
Jay, be careful in running any propane furnace or water heaters inside the barn.... if u do make sure u have CO monitors close to where u guys are. Thus no back drafting into ur living/sleeping quarters.
2 minutes before you switched to the tractor I said to my fiancée ... it would be easier to use the tractor or the jeep, the truck is too big :) --- that's a huge step done, so happy for you guys
Big, big, big, HUUUUGE step. Congratulations BPO3, you must feel super proud and accomplished ❤🎉❤ All this work paid out and it.will continue to pay out. Hard work always pays out! I can't wait to move in my house I'm building now. Greetings from Croatia 😊
Hey Jay! Step by step over the obstacles and you're home! Now some tedious stuff? Electricity will be very comforting. You can always vent through the windows? Congratulations!
Yeah sometimes all the planning and delaying make it take forever and just “going for it” you won’t remember the struggles to make it work in the interim. Congrats!
Congrats on getting the camper moved! I did giggle at the "its so cold" thing. It's 3f out with a 18mph wind (-16c, 29kph) here in Minnesota, USA right now.
Pomeranian. We rescued him during covid. He was 7 at the time and named Scooter. We've had our 16 year old toy poodle shiatzu mix named Skeeter since he was a puppy. So we unintentionally have a Scooter and a Skeeter.
