New Year's Day 2022, there's snow today on the upper Catalina Mountains, just north of the city! That means that Ski Valley on Mt. Lemmon has snow, and yes, Tucson IS beautiful! Feel free to enjoy my Arizona playlists. :)
I spent 4 weeks in Tucson in January and all I can say is WOW! What a treasure Tucson is and Brad you captured the beauty and the music brought out the joy of being there. I am planning to return this winter for a longer stay this time, lots more to see and hike to. The broad vistas just beyond the city limits go forever. Being from South west British Columbia the climate and openness will keep me coming back, bravo! You who call Tucson home are fortunate indeed.

CA Catr I will certainly have a look at these now that you mention it. With a class b rv I intend to now explore more remote areas and overnight. Your drone footage is amazing! Yes, BC is amazing too, In the late fall to early Spring the greyness can get to me and Arizona specifically Tucson is the cure, for me at least. VM

Lovely! To share this, I've saved it to my large Arizona playlist, an organized video tour of much of the State, for the Tucson section (just after the Monsoon section that begins the playlist). Some commenters have written here that they think the color was edited to add green, but it seems they've forgotten that after good rains, it's always green, and historically (pre-198x) it was always green save the last 3 weeks of June until monsoon began in early July. It used to be green almost year-round, receiving 3 good rain-periods every year (weather patterns were reliable, like clockwork): steady, light, quiet rains every day in the week before Christmas, steady moderate-strength, daily Springtime rains (still no thunder) for 14 days in March, and 6-7 weeks of daily downpours during Summer monsoon, accompanied by high winds, loud thunder and lightning. Tucson was the biggest city in the world that was completely dependent on ground water, sweet, tested but untreated, pure well-water. :) It was great. ~ Thank you for posting. :)

My friend and I would go up to Catalina Mtn's
late at night and take one of our ten-speed bikes.
One of us would speed down kerranging
while the truck would light the road
in front of us.
What a rush.
We clocked between 32 and 46 mph.

Native Tucsonan here. U of A grad. Left in 2000 for Montana and work. Now stuck in central Texas and miss the Catalinas, Santa Ritas, and the Rincons (real mountains compared to anything in TX).

Great video! Tucson has been my winter home since 1983 when I first came here to visit some hiking friends. I live here October to March, been a Snowbird since I was 27, I am now going on 63 in three weeks. I am a bicyclist, backpacker, bike tourer and love all that Tucson and its area has to offer.

Tucson had its charms great video viewing. My favorite part of the city was the university of Arizona. I love the Arizona wildcats. Best college team in the country. Tucson it is beautiful especially in the morning.

You might enjoy my 2 Arizona playlists, both of which, in part, feature Tucson, but the large playlist far more. It's an organized video tour, begins with the monsoon season, the beauty and grandeur, shares educational aspects, the related weather hazards, then shifts to show the Tucson region, moving from place to place, generally following the map in what could be the direction of travel, but as to places, begins with the Sabino Canyon area, and works its way around the State. :)

Thanks for the great footage. I am a very new in to this drone piloting hobby thus just will like to know in order to fly near the city, do I need to get some sort of waiver. I like to be able to capture the footage like yours in some of the city area. Thanks again.
pui kay wong thanks for your feedback. If you are flying recreationally you cannot fly within 5 mi radius of Davis Monthan airbase or Tucson international airport. Puts most of central Tucson and south tucson off limits to fly. The other restriction is city code bans drones from any city park, however there is a designated drone flying area at silverbell Park on the west side of tucson
Thanks a lot. It seems so hard to find a place to fly. I am very afraid the public will approach or yell at me for flying my drone. I have a dji spark and only after I bought it, only then I realized there are so many restrictions. People are just not educated enough and to top it off, many irresponsible pilots were just doing the wrong thing. Looks like a good place to fly and thanks for the recommendation. Have a great day.

Tucson has red rocks or was that the sun?
It was the glow of the sunset on the rocks. Arizona's sunsets look orange a lot of the time due to the iron oxides in Arizona's reddish soil, soil that's windblown into the air, through which the sunlight comes at sunset, causing that orange hue. Some of our rocks do have a somewhat orange, pink or red hue, but they are not red like the red rocks that one sees at Sedona. ~ You might enjoy my large Arizona playlist.

Too Late! Haha LMFAO 😂. Do you know how many California license plates I see everyday on the streets of Tucson!? LoL. By the way, I see almost just as many TEXAS license plates as I do California plates here in Tucson. Several hundred to several thousand Texas AND California license plates. Washington state is a close third. The word is already out my friend, Haha.
I’m from Tucson Arizona so I just come to these videos to read the comments are you guys are correct it’s great and Tucson but in Somers we reach temperatures anything from 110 to like 130 only ever snowed once no non-history but in my time to sounds amazing it’s a great place during the winter because it never gets too cold so you can still be outside Tucson is amazing it’s beautiful there’s so much landscaping Tucson is justI feel like people that don’t live in Tucson love it way more than people that do because they have an experience like eight years of living in it when I have and trust me it gets a little boring occasionally you want to live in California but if you live in California tell me if I’m wrong
Hi there. Sorry to burst your bubble man but Tucson Rarely (if ever) reaches anywhere near 130 degrees. That is not normal. We don't even get to 125 during any summer. The closest we get is 115 maybe and possibly 119/120 but I doubt we even get THAT high during the summer. You're thinking of Yuma, Phoenix/Casa Grande, Lake Havasu & Bullhead City areas. Tucson doesn't get that hot 🔥 and if it does? It's record highs every 15-20 years or so. Our average temps during summer ranges from 105-115 degrees. 130 is Death Valley climate. Phoenix averages between 110-120 every summer. Anyway, just thought I'd make a correction so others who haven't been here don't get the wrong idea. Peace & blessings.

Tucson was once a great place to live. No longer. The groundwater is irreparably toxic. Roads are awful. Illegal aliens everywhere. Low pay jobs. Public transportation is second rate. Local government is very corrupt, particularly police and courts, and bribery rampant. The inner city is decaying while the suburbs grow uncontrollably. High rates of unemployment, homelessness and crime (entire area a major US drug distribution hub from Mexico). The single very leftwing newspaper and tv stations pimp constantly for Mexicans. Public schools, community college and low grade state university are among the worst in US. No inner city freeway system makes vehicular traffic a nightmare. Typical Arizona. A vacation spot for moneyed out of towners who golf and leave as soon as 100 degree temperatures (half the year) begin. Prisons and county jail a high growth industry. Do yourselves a favor...keep driving to New Mexico or California.

It is a "City" after all. Homelessness & unemployment is also bad here but not anything or anywhere even remotely close to any large city in California. Even Las Vegas is worse than Tucson. The guy above me & you in this post describing Tucson is using scare tactics to influence you. He is exaggerating a bit, afterall. I'm not saying what he described isn't true but he/she is being a bit dramatic in their wordplay. Listen. Tucson is a medium/large city with a population of approximately 545,000 and a metro population of approximately 1 million. We aren't anywhere near Los Angeles or Phoenix population but we have our fair share of crime, corruption, poverty, homelessness, unemployment, bribery, bad leadership, traffic, rude people etc....etc...The person above you describing Tucson? He makes Tucson sound like Syria, India, Iraq, Afghanistan, Venezuela, Cuba, El Salvador and other impoverished third world countries. Yes, Tucson can be bad but it's not THAT bad! We aren't even as bad as some parts of Mexico & violent genocidal countries in Africa. Tucson is just as problematic as ANY city in America with a population of 400K+. Check your own statistics on any database website. We are no different than other cities. You want worse than Tucson? Check out Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, Baltimore, Philadelphia, some parts of New Jersey, Stockton & Oakland California, Vegas, parts of LA. I think even Phoenix & Albuquerque are slightly worse than Tucson. Don't read too much into what that person says above you. I think he/she takes the problems of Tucson a bit too personal and is being melodramatic about "how bad" Tucson truly is. Tucson isn't perfect. But what city is? Use your own logic & discernment to come up with your own conclusion about Tucson's economy, government, traffic, crime, corruption etc....Just some friendly advice from a different perspective. I study my own demographics/statistics from other sources and watch documentaries about other cities in America to draw my own conclusions by the way. I don't dwell on Tucson's set of problems. There are good things about this city. You just have to seek them out or experience them yourself. The End.

Lifelong Tucsonan here. Joshua Diaz's reply to you here is a truer reflection of Tucson. Arizona is FAR better than California, and far better off than major cities.
