I am Puerto Rican and I lived in Tucson for 6 years. I consider Tucson my second home people always treated me right I have good memories from there. Met some good people. You get spoiled from the Mexican food estilo Sonora. I live in Philly now but I plan to return one day.

Hola Amigos.
my papa was born into south tucson and even though there is gang violence i was brought there since i was 6 and everyone is good hearted and there aer good people there tucson is for ever GO WILDCATTTSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I love Tucson!!! Tucsonans are kind and considerate and I've never had a bad experience. Everyone spends a great deal of time doing outdoor activities with their families and friends on weekends. Always sad when we have to leave.
South Tucson is authentically Mexican and poor. That's much is true. It is also true that Stewart Boot Company makes the best custom boots in the world and South Tucson is the place to go for great Sonoran style Mexican food. Try the little hole in the wall "Birreria Guadalajara". Bring cash, no credit, and be ready to speak at least enough Spanish to place your order. Do those things and you will be rewarded with amazingly good food.
New to Tucson and South Tucson gets a bad rap--it is welcoming and friendly much better than the up-tight East side of Professionals with their 6-foot walls.
We talked about retiring to Tucson but were worried about being so close to Mexico. We understand about all the crime, drugs and illegals moving in and out of the US along the border. We are now looking at Tennessee.
I used to live off of Bopp Rd and San Juanquien Rd in Tuscon Mountain area. I worked in South Tuscon with Clients. My clients would tell me about the violence in South Tuscon. The South Tuscon police took care of only South Tuscon. No Tuscon Sheriff's, Police department wasn't allowed in unless the South Tuscon police called them. They would find dead bodies in my area by Drexel Heights Fire Dept. on old Ajo Rd. and San Juanquien Way Rd. They would report it as gang related from South Tuscon. This would happen at least once a week. Usually during the weekend. South Tuscon is mostly gang families.
If you love being poor, you may like Tucson. No jobs worth having. Love poor you'll love Tucson. If you have a Mexican last name, you might like commiserating with the others.
South Tucson is super ghetto.....there is parts that are good, but not this part.....also showing a shirtless guy and a lady that thinks having carpeting in her house as a sign of progress doesn't help your case
