  • Latter-day Saints in southern Arizona are ready to welcome visitors to the Tucson Arizona Temple, which has been built among the saguaro cactus in southern Arizona’s Sonoran Desert. Complimentary tickets are now available for a public open house for the newly completed temple that will begin on Saturday, June 3, and continue through Saturday, June 24, 2017, except for the Sundays of June 4, 11 and 18.
    “The temple is beautiful,” said local member Joshua Ramirez. “It's just like a big beacon.”
    “I believe that when people come to visit the temple, they will feel something special as they visit the house of the Lord, as they come here and view the insides of this beautiful structure,” expressed member Daniel Post, who is excited the temple in Tucson has been completed.
    Calvin Caldwell, project manager for the temple, explained that going to the temple is like finding an oasis in the desert. “They have that opportunity to take a deep breath and relax and all their worries kind of go away,” said Caldwell.
    The design and colors inside the new 38,000-square-foot temple are influenced by the Art Deco style and reflect the green desert landscape of the American Southwest, including native plants, red cactus flowers and orange hues that represent the desert sun. Designers used the native ocotillo plant and the flower of the paddle cactus or prickly pear as inspiration for the décor, such as the art glass. Paintings feature stories of the ministry of Jesus Christ from the scriptures and desert scenery.

    Kind of interesting that from the view above the Temple it is in the shape of a cross. The LDS buildings do not usually have that.

    What a beautiful temple !! Makes me want to move to Tucson right now! I love the feeling I get in temples and how the veil of feelings seems to thin as well-- and I always come away soul refreshed . I know with all my heart that Jesus Christ's church has been restored again with these keys to the heavenly gifts!

    I'm a member that is not a temples- member. What about me? Are you going to share? Are you going to love me? Or really be my friend? Or are you going to be a businessman only? Or play favorites with the able people? A merit-based church. Or as the scriptures say respector of people. Not enough care in the goodness for me? I snitch all you out to God for no fellowship from my LDS family and local church leaders. And members. Aaron.

    As with nearly all lds temples except for those in Central Congo Africa, the focus is on material perfectionism in the structure and contents.The opulence never fails to impress , even the sceptic can admire. The only place in lds buildings you see statues. Its all rather like the splendour of St Peters in Rome but on a smaller scale.
    Perhaps it is an escape from the outside world that latter day saints are encouraged to dwell therein to perform their religious ceremonies.
    Ironically when the president of this church proposed to his wife Wendy Nelson she did not feel initially the most appropriate place to find peace and answers was a lds temple rather she choose the countryside and mountains to feel Gods influence.
    I rather agree that mans man-made buildings are but a mere if not inferior collection to the works of Mother Nature created by I AM.

    I never thought I would ever hear /see any Temple referred to as a "Mormon Temple" this usage does not help people understand that Temples have nothing to do with Mormon but rather of Jesus Christ and His Father in heaven

    • @iDONTdoFacebook
      @iDONTdoFacebook 4 роки тому +1

      @Sid name
      Good point. You’re right, it’s not Mormon’s temple. Nor is it a “Mormon” temple. It is THE HOUSE OF THE LORD built by The Church of Jesus Christ (of Latter-day Saints) and dedicated to the God of Heaven and Earth as a place of holiness, sacred ordinances, and Eternal Covenants entered into between God and His people.

  • @SteveSmith-os5bs

    I remember going through the temple durning the open house before it’s dedication, my first impression was I really liked to portrait of Jesus that they had in the entrance but, as the tour progressed into the interior of the temple, it looked like they really cut corners in the interior, the small paintings inside were at best blah and really did not compare to other temples I have been through. The outside could have easily mistaken for Catholic Church, just replace Moroni with a cross.

    MORMON Newsroom? MORMON Temple? Check that official Style Guide and make that change right this minute. The prophet lost sleep over this issue and you're hurting Jesus' feelings right now.

  • @adalbertomodesusa

    "Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet," Acts 7:48 KJV (The same version Mormons use). The idea of the Lord dwelling in a building it is just against the Bible! period. The Mormonism, like any other religion, is nothing more than a religion. A trap setup by Satan to deceive many. I have nothing against Mormons, in fact I love them, and that is the reason I'm writing this. Jesus is the ONLY way to heaven. Nothing else can be added to it. His sacrifice is enough.

      The Lord Jesus Christ, Moses, Elijah, and Elias appeared to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdrey in the Kirtland Temple, the first temple built in this dispensation. The temple is a place for God and Jesus Christ. Moses was instructed to build a Tabernacle for this same purpose. Solomon was instructed by God to build a temple.
      God will return suddenly to his temple.
      Just sayin'

    • @nathanbanks2935
      @nathanbanks2935 Рік тому

      Hi,
      That's kind to say you like members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
      I agree that the scripture you mentioned about God not dwelling in temples made with hands is in the Bible, however I kindly disagree about things you are saying. I've never heard any general authority say that God lives in temples, however that doesn't mean that he won't visit them from time to time. Much of the things in the Bible testify that temples are both vitally important, and extensively used to bring us closer to Jesus Christ. Temples are sacred spaces dedicated to us making sacred covenants, promises, and worshipping God.
      The first patriarchs built "temple types," or alters. This is evident in Genesis 8:20, when Noah built an altar to God. Moses was commanded to build a portable type of Temple: (The Tabernacle of the Congregation.) Later Solomon's temple was constructed. After the Babylonians destroyed it, it was rebuilt before Christ's birth. The temple was used throughout Christ ministry, and was still used by his apostles after his resurrection. (Luke 24:53, Acts 3:2-3)
      As far as organized religion is concerned, God has always authorized organized religion throughout the Bible. When Moses, was overwhelmed with the task of trying to help meet the needs of hundreds of thousands of the children of Israel, his father-in-law told him that what he was doing it was weighing him down. As a result of this God commanded him to call seventy Elders to assist him. Also it is quite clear that Christ wanted a very organized church when he called 12 apostles, as well as the seventies to help bless mankind.
      God is a God of order. Just think if there were unorganized hospitals, or unorganized Air traffic control towers in airports. The same goes with organized religion. Also if we just simply believe, without showing love for God and mankind, our "faith," is fake. After commanded us to keep his commandments, which includes baptism, making and keeping other ordinances and covenants, blessing mankind, and above all serving God with our whole soul.

    This "temple" is a blight placed on some very pricey land in a very pricey area. And this video is quite the pricey little marketing tool. How sad that so much money was spent on the land, the ominous building that sticks out like a sore thumb, the expensive furnishings and so forth. No doubt multiple millions of dollars were spent to build this monstosity. What a crying shame with all of the homeless people in Tucson, with 25% of the homeless being children. I don't need a big, fancy building to commune with God. This is terrible!

    • @elizap3614

      Michele Regal I couldn’t agree more! This building completely sticks out like a sore thumb. Very tacky, absolutely does not blend in with the beautiful land/desert. The fact that it only welcomes non-members before it is dedicated is a huge red flag that this does not belong.

    • @The_Mister
      @The_Mister 5 років тому +6

      Michele Regal you’re correct. You don’t need a big fancy temple to commune with God, but you do need one for certain ordinances. I pray that your heart may be softened as you learn more about the temple. I have never felt more joy, love, peace, and even communion with God than I have in the celestial room of the temple. I pray that you may someday experience this as well.

      I'm sorry you feel this way. I hope that someday we will be able to reach the point in this country where people won't feel the need to criticize how and where other religions choose to worship God

    • @00Fisher00
      @00Fisher00 4 роки тому +7

      The Church makes extensive efforts to assist those in need, but this building is for a different purpose. We don't need any building at all to commune with God, and local meetinghouses are suitable for some things, but we do need temples to accomplish some of God's work. I would invite you to learn more about them.
