I tried out the term “bits and bobs” the other day. In Kentucky. Everyone froze and looked at me like I was an alien. 😂 As flexible as the English language is, some of it just doesn’t translate easily from British to American.
Lynne seems absolutely fantastic, absolutely tons of fun, and such a fantastic sense of style too. Tadpole should be a truly amazing boat and space when she's finished.
Oh my god, my Dad built Miss Tadpole from scratch and it is named after my sister. We had to let her go when my Dad passed away in 1999. She looks the same as I remember when I was younger. Would love to see her again!
David, Every time I see one of your delightful videos pop up, it puts a smile on my face. They are really enjoyable and I look forward to many more! A.
Loved how much these two loved their gorgeous small craft. Wish we could turn ours round as easily as Bramble. 😂 Beautiful how they managed to fit everything into 24ft. Brilliant vlog David.
This is England how we love it. Unfortunately even though here in flat North Germany are many canals, there are almost none of such possibilities either for holiday's or permanent stay. Greetings from Lüneburg
I remember Bramble. Many years ago I used to have a 40ft Cabin Cruiser and moored up next to it a few times. Ended up getting to know the previous owner after we got chatting one afternoon. It’s a cool little Narrowboat.
The "tiny house" version of the traditional narrowboat. I could see this being perfect for someone who wants to "try out" narrowboating for an extended holiday. And may I say "thank you"? Your videos helped me maintain some semblance of sanity during the extended COVID lockdown.
It's remarkable what some people can make work for them. Most of us would struggle with the limited living space of a traditional size narrow boat. These are charming little boats.
We hired a 25 footer for a weekend. Tipped with rain and how but we returned her to the owner buzzing with the world-on-its-head adventure we had enjoyed. Fond memory. Praise to these two, and best wishes.
Huge kudos to Lynn for taking on such a big project as a first DIY effort! By the looks of it, she's doing a great job and I love the 50s look she carries so well as much as I love the beach hut look of the boat.
Loved this vid... especially the part where Bramble's essentially doing the narrowboat equivalent of 'doing donuts.' I can almost hear him now going "neener neener neener, you can't do this" to the longer narrowboats. :D And best of luck to all those working on getting Miss Tadpole up and running! She has the potential to be quite the lovely little hideaway when it's all said and done.
Sweet, sweet, little Bramble and Tadpole! ❤❤😊😊 Thank you Lynne and Ben for sharing your charming boats with David and with us on YT 😊 Thank you David.😊
These short little things are both adorable and wonderfully practical. I could definitely see myself living on one of these in summer months - and maybe even during winter. Thanks for another jolly look at the cut! You and Kurzgesagt are my favorite youtubers.
I love these small boats. I often wonder what the smallest boat is that I could live on. After all, I could easily live in a small touring caravan so even some of these smaller boats are nearly double the length of a small caravan. I lived in a 14ft touring caravan for about a year whilst I saved for a static caravan and those were some of my most happy memories.
Bravo to these guys for saving history and enjoying the water , we live in Australia I'm originally from England Weatherby as a child of four with my parents explored the country locks , just before emigration to Australia, those images have stayed with me, the thought of living on the water, my family of 4 now live aboard a 40 foot pilot cutter, have for 8 years our youngest has lived on the water since birth he is now 8 , and now that our boys are growing we have added another yacht to our collection for extra space with them rafted up ,she is a 31 foot Schooner built of Australian hardwood in the 60s, in a few years maybe a little more we plan to sail our wooden Schooner back to England and see these wonderful old long short boats, and the many historical boats there are , great job guys let there be more of it aye! .
Another great episode, David. I forgot to tell you a short story. A Facebook friend and I were talking about camper vans and I mentioned that I had been considering retiring to a narrowboat. He lives in a yurt with solar so I thought he might enjoy the episode on electric narrowboats and so sent him a link. He wrote back, "Oh, I love his channel. Been watching for some time. His is the best narrowboat channel." So, two Americans about a thousand miles apart, whose only real common interest is recumbent bicycles (the conversation of that day was off-topic for us) are both fans of your channel. 🙂 Alex
Hi David, I love this concept - thanks. I'm living tiny in Africa at present, staying in a place for a month or 2 and then moving on using a caravan as my home. I lived on my 35ft power boat in the USA for 4 years and just love this way of life. We don't need a large space to live - it's just more to clean 😋 Anyway thanks for all your videos, you've opened up a new world for so many of us. My next step is to do what you're doing in the UK when I'm finished with Africa, then a school bus around the states for a few years and by then I'll be about 80, so will have to see. Fond regards, thanks again, Don Morris.
Marvelous video about lovely boats. My favourite Britishism was "bus-type window". This American had no idea. Ben of Bramble's boat-handling skill was most impressive.
5:39 Wow, she actually has an Old Town canoe! I grew up a few minutes from where they're made in Old Town, Maine (USA) and have rarely seen them outside the States. Good choice, Lynne! 👍🏻
I own the same Old Town Pack. At 33 pounds, it’s a joy to carry and load on top of my Element. However, Royalex doesn’t do well in the constant sun. They are in London, so I hear it’s cloudy a lot. 🤷♂️.
Excellent episode David. It's almost as if you're narrow "mini" boating vicariously 😂😂😂😂 Plus the boats "looked" like boats as it were ... have been on some of the latest hire boats and they're more like an apartment what with "fourb poster" beds, hidden "mood" lighting, sound systems, wide screen TVs, vast walk in "community" showers and galley big enough to cater for the five thousand up the hill sort of thing. Not so much a boat but more of a nod to a "gin palace". These boats much more "boaty mc-home face". Luckily the second boat owner works in theatre ... techie mates to sort the lecky and scene painters to paint just about "any scene from any play going". I'd do it!
Hello from New Zealand David. That was another great insight into small narrow boats. You do get some wonderful subjects. Keep up this work. We love every interview you do. Cheers.
Charming post. It is quite evident, that CTC's love of this narrowboat world and all things about it, shall never wane. Much to our thankful benefit! Cheers.
A very good, very relaxed and relaxing video. Appreciate your being back to the narrow boats in ways that satisfy your interests but don't overtax your time. The new videos are special treats for the subscribers to CTC. Thank you.
Thanks David, those tiny narrow boats look perfect for the quick weekend getaway from the madding crowd ! Loving this new format and length. I'm time poor so have not yet watched all of the Cotswolds videos. Cheers.
Oh yes, I’ve been waiting for this video, you promised us one about the mini nb and you delivered, you did. Love the people you interviewed and the way you let them be their own selves. Another little pearl again. Thank you
Now I think you know I was pretty chuffed when you fell out of love with cruising - how can you call yourself cruising the cut?! - but David, these blogs have been very enjoyable. Keep up the good work and let us know how the house search is going - unless it’s solved and I’ve missed an update?!
Now that is the size of narrow boat I could control on those canals. The only problem is that we don’t have canals in my part of the world, we just have the Ohio River. Terrific video, thank you for sharing.
The stories of the owners are as interesting as the boats. Must be a treasure trove of fascinating people out there....my friend went from a BT call operator to being a missionary in south korea to now being a continuous cruiser..
Love the small narrow boats. I travel with a small teardrop trailer. It works out great. You can live outdoors and have a dry comfortable place to sleep.
A Campervan for the Canals, I like it.
I tried out the term “bits and bobs” the other day. In Kentucky. Everyone froze and looked at me like I was an alien. 😂 As flexible as the English language is, some of it just doesn’t translate easily from British to American.
Hahahahahaha that's hilarious!!
My "English" vocabulary was already quite large even before David. But there is no hiding the fact that he is a bad influence on us Yanks. 😂
At least they didn't run out of town Trapper, or did they ? 🙂
🤪😄😁💯✔👍 hilarious. what about mentioning "turn round on a sixpence" ??
@@joline2730 USA .. Spin on a Dime....
What a really nice little video about a couple of really nice little narrowboats!
Lynne seems absolutely fantastic, absolutely tons of fun, and such a fantastic sense of style too. Tadpole should be a truly amazing boat and space when she's finished.
So happy to watch this as I lay here in Bramble.
The wait has been worth it, absolutely love tadpole and owner!
With Love
Bramble & Ben
Thank you 😊
Oh my god, my Dad built Miss Tadpole from scratch and it is named after my sister. We had to let her go when my Dad passed away in 1999. She looks the same as I remember when I was younger. Would love to see her again!
😀😀😀
It's a small world at times. Glad to see she's got a owner that loves her .
David, you've done it again. We love the exposure to canal life! Thank you.
David, Every time I see one of your delightful videos pop up, it puts a smile on my face. They are really enjoyable and I look forward to many more! A.
Thank you so much :-)
Now this is right up my canal, except I live in Canada. Oh well, I can live vicariously through David’s vlogs. Thank you. This was great.
Glad you liked it :-)
Loved how much these two loved their gorgeous small craft. Wish we could turn ours round as easily as Bramble. 😂 Beautiful how they managed to fit everything into 24ft. Brilliant vlog David.
In this American's opinion, the owner of the tadpole is an absolutely delightful person! I wish her the best whatever her "course" may be.
Flat bottomed boats you make the rockin world go round
This is England how we love it. Unfortunately even though here in flat North Germany are many canals, there are almost none of such possibilities either for holiday's or permanent stay. Greetings from Lüneburg

Thank you, I'm glad they helped :-)
Very nice examples of life aboard half-size narrowboats. Lockdown has certainly opened my eyes to different ways of living
Love these small boats. Cute. Practical. Economic. I can see how you are smitten, David.
David, what a fun video! The Tadpole is a great lesson - have an expert evaluate a used boat before buying! Glad it's turned out well.
What an exciting person Lynne is. Glad she has fallen in love with Tadpole again. I wish both narrowboat owners well, and you of course David.
More on smaller boats always welcome.
I'll go and bother Lorna to do something about hers once she's got it next Spring!
Huge kudos to Lynn for taking on such a big project as a first DIY effort! By the looks of it, she's doing a great job and I love the 50s look she carries so well as much as I love the beach hut look of the boat.
Oh we've been waiting patiently for this episode!! So happy to have seen it - wonderful episode. Thanks for sharing! Tiny boats are the best 😁😁
Aren't they though?!!!
The stove on Tadpole! I collect old stoves/pots. That one was gorgeous, great design, useful!
Absolutely lovely! That first boat can indeed turn on a sixpence. And I've never seen a gramophone-horn phone holder thingy before! How cool.
What's a sixpence? ;-)
I think a cute name for a tiny narrow boat is Lily Pad and paint it bright green.
A very enjoyable upload .. Lynne could be the model for a prototypical 1940's girl at Bletchley Park.. what a terrific personality.
tiny narrowboats give such chill and relaxing energy 😍
Thanks so much for this. I favor the older models and these shorter ones.
Loved this vid... especially the part where Bramble's essentially doing the narrowboat equivalent of 'doing donuts.' I can almost hear him now going "neener neener neener, you can't do this" to the longer narrowboats. :D

It was a pleasure bumping into you and Ben whilst filming this! Cracking video as always
Thank you, lovely to meet you too 👍
Years ago owned a springer 23, it was excellent, and plenty big enough.
I don't care what you do I just love all your blogs
Sweet, sweet, little Bramble and Tadpole! ❤❤😊😊
Thank you Lynne and Ben for sharing your charming boats with David and with us on YT 😊
Thank you David.😊
What lovely people you meet on the river. Including you, David, of course.
Greetings from Germany. Again a super Video from you. This tiny canal boats I´m loking for. Regards Christoph
Lovely people in two equally lovely Boats.
They do look fun.
They really were. I had a go at steering Ben’s, going round in circles and it was hilariously brilliant.
@@CruisingTheCut closest thing to a handbrake turn on the network! :D
Thank you David for another wonderful escape from reality !
You need one of these. We miss you "messing about with boats". Mr Churchill highly recommended this.
I definitely need one!
These short little things are both adorable and wonderfully practical. I could definitely see myself living on one of these in summer months - and maybe even during winter. Thanks for another jolly look at the cut! You and Kurzgesagt are my favorite youtubers.
High praise indeed, thank you

This is one of the most lovely episodes on UA-cam I have seen in a long time. Truly wonderful.
Thank you
I love the turning radius on those short and narrow boats
I guess that's the equivalent of doing donuts in the water
4:12 Bro is doing doughnuts on the canal!
😂
Bravo to these guys for saving history and enjoying the water , we live in Australia I'm originally from England Weatherby as a child of four with my parents explored the country locks , just before emigration to Australia, those images

Brilliant portrayal of the lower budget end of boating. Well done all concerned.
Thanks for this awesome video. You’re truly the Narrowboat ambassador 👍🏻✌🏻🇨🇦
You hit gold , with that Lynne. And the tadpole boat . 👍. Both excellent characters 👌
Awesome video ,,,,, they're living the dream that I've had for years ,,,, kudos to them !!!!
I have loved these small boats since your Mon & Brec visit - there is just something about them
Fantastic video, David. Thank you for that. I love those tinys. Please more tiny boats in the future if possible.

Amazing! Thank you 😊
As someone who loves things in miniature, l appreciate this video. Thank you 🤗💜
Another well made, fascinating video David. What a great way to escape a crowded and busy London.
The lady who purchased the second boat should have had it surveyed, always a wise thing to do!
You have a particular type of character and personality such that your 2 interview subjects volunteered their boats and themselves. Thank you.
I hope you and Bramble team up in the future. Love his channel and that cute boat
Love these tiny narrowboats! As a singleton, they would be just perfect for me 😊
Aww two Cute boats & so easy to moor up😊
Missed this vlog, on something frather larger cruising the open seas. Most welcome to see the video on my return.
The canal boat version of a handbrake turn
I thought that it was a donut or burnout.

That 24 footer is almost exactly what I'm after! Brilliant, didn't think they came that small. Time to start saving!
So cute and lovely the small ones 🥰

And a narrowboat handbrake turn was something I never thought I'd see!
Green being my favorite and simple gets my vote. Love it;)
Charming post. It is quite evident, that CTC's love of this narrowboat world and all things about it, shall never wane. Much to our thankful benefit! Cheers.
That Lady, Linn - She's wonderful! Made my day...
Love listening to people passionate about boats and boating.
That was great.excellent interviews and filming . So nice to hear about these lovely boats.
This was a fun episode. Thanks, David.
Lynne is quite a nice character. Lots of heart and determination. And Miss Tadpole is quite nice little narrow boat.

Those tiny narrow boats look too fun for words....I think one of those would be good for a freshly retired guy that is good with his hands... 😉

Thank you for sharing this tiny boat!! Both of them.
What delightful boats, with delightful owners and interesting stories. Love the vlog, thank you.
Thank you
Absolute hoot. Quite fun to see how much living can be accomplished in a small space. Lynn appears to be quite the character!
Lovely! thanks David

I LOVE that title. Such brilliance David!
Love this video, David. You are the perfect presenter. ilona
What charming little boats. Thank you David for another beautifully presented vlog. Best wishes
Those are really neat. Love them.
What a fun , smaller narrowboat. Lots of work ,with good times in the future ❤
An absolutely fascinating video. Please can we have more videos on small narrowboats?
Love these tiny little boats !!!!!!!
Love tiny narrow boats, please do more!
I'd love to!
Love the small narrow boats. I travel with a small teardrop trailer. It works out great. You can live outdoors and have a dry comfortable place to sleep.
