I did this to all of my magazines as well. They just come pretty rough from Ruger. I sanded the follower channels too which make them feel a lot better when loading ammo. Also what really helped was making sure the mags are cleaned and the ammo isn't over-waxed. I just clean the front inside of the mag where the bullet rubs against it with some CLP. For heavy waxed bullets I just remove excess wax from the tips. Just rub them on a cloth. I had two boxes of 800 rds of federal that I picked up during the pandemic and it was really bad. So much wax. Before wiping down rds I'd get through about 20-30 shots before the jams and stovepipes on a clean magazine. After doing this I was able to shoot well over 200 rds with very few failures that were the fault of the gun. Federal ammo is pretty bad so it's not surprising to see a round need multiple primer strikes to fire. I had a few boxes of CCI AR minimags that were like this as well. The best running ammo I've found for the MK4 is cci target minimags. standard velocity usually works pretty well too. They are a bit more waxed

Cool, How did you sand the follower channel? Wow that must have been hard. The biggest problem I had with that is I found out it was the bad finish on the springs from Ruger. If you add new Magazine springs from Tandemkross it totally takes that rough feeling away from pushing down the follower button to load them. Since the springs rub on the inside of the magazine wall it makes a huge difference if the springs have a smooth finish to them. You can see my video on that subject here: ua-cam.com/video/5bLc3iIEgNk/v-deo.html
I agree with the wax totally, however since I have done all of these steps to my Ruger Mark IV, I can leave the wax on them and no jamming. That was my main goal is to get the pistol to work without having to put in extra effort all the time, like wiping the bullets or cleaning it more often, or even bullets that it typically didn't like now work just fine.
As far as bullets go, the best two I have tested so far are Norma Match-22 and Norma Hunter-22. These bullets rock, you can see the videos for them here: ua-cam.com/video/Vw_vmOBMfHg/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/dzjCWk6UOOc/v-deo.html, if you want to see my review of the mini mags as well to compare they didn't do as well, but still they were pretty good. Here is that link: ua-cam.com/video/txWXazOk97s/v-deo.html
One thing I can tell you about bullets is that the only thing velocity changes is ft lbs of damage at impact, it has absolutely no effect on accuracy at ranges shorter and I don't ever shoot anything from 200 or 500 yards away to figure out where that impact begins. You may disagree , however you can see this in the pellet gun test I did here: ua-cam.com/video/7RQTMpduMnM/v-deo.html Once you get over about 400ft per second, on a pellet gun, no impact on accuracy at 50ft at all.
Thank you for the info and have a great day. 😁

@@BallistiXPro I just used sandpaper folded in half and ran it through the channel and I got out my dremel and buffed the surface and edges of the magazines. I also switched out the springs with greensprings from TK. It was a long process but now I have about 10 really good magazines.

Good stuff. I used the Tandem Kross magazine tuning video from 9 years ago as a guide and have had no issues with my 22-45 since then.

I just wanted to let you know I created a Tandemkross video if you would like to see it on how to install the magazine springs. There are some funny parts in this one as well. I hope you enjoy it and thank you so much for the idea TiggerTimeTraining6963. Much appreciated.

What you have done here certainly helps. For me I found the issue to be the magazine, but more so due to burrs in the track for the thumb stud. This greatly increased friction on the thumb stud and made feeding of the next round inconsistent. Getting rid of those burrs and polishing the contact areas between the thumb stud and magazine greatly improved performance.

The magazine finished it off for me, but yes, it does improve how the bullets feed, mostly by changing the angle at which they feed. I am not sure the polishing does anything more than give you a visual cue that the mag has been modified so you can see it more quickly vs an old one maybe, but yeah I polished the top of mine as well. Don't round those corners too much though, if you grind too much off instead of fixing the problem you cause the problem in reverse as the angle of the feed will be too steep.
