    The Sigma zoom ring is the one that actually goes in the opposite direction. Tamron goes in the same direction as sony lenses

    Amazing review but you're definitely going to need that Tripod ring. I bought it last week and that 2.25 lbs isn't a joke. It puts in great work but that weight is going to put your fitness to the test.

      Yeah I don’t think I’d carry one around for a holiday. I felt it after a day walking around the Eden project for this film.

    I don’t know if 24-70 is really the perfect lens. I’ve had two of them for different camera bodies and often found that I always wanted it a little wider, and a little longer when traveling. I accompanied it with a 16-35 and often found that was a little too wide, large and often wanted just a little more reach, so I found myself fumbling and changing between the two very often.
    I then got the Tamron 20-40 and found that it is just wide enough for me to capture many scenes without a ton of distortion, and just long enough to get some good subject isolation.
    I just ordered this tamron used to see if it’ll be a good companion, one where i could switch to it and be able to keep it on for a little while before feeling like i need wider, when im somewhere like a concert, festival or large open areas where the extra reach could be useful.

    Fujinon 18-135, just bought it from second hands. Only from F3.5 but the assy quality is great and it shoots fine. After my XC 16-50 it's a super-upgrade :)
    One con is that the OIS eats the battery like hell :) Or maybe it was a slitghly cold there... IDK. I think that I'll buy XT4 or XT5 one day. One thing I don't like - it crops the video (at some conditions) worse than XT3!
    These constant Fuji's marketing stuff changes makes me nuts already.
    Other than that I'll never buy Sony. Maybe Canon but not now for sure.

    This or the Sigma 24-70 & Sony G 70-200 f4 macro combo… that’s a more pricey option, but lighter on your camera mount at the time. For events, festivals, and indoor sports I think this lens is a better option. Not sure how fast is the autofocus for sports like basketball.

      Tough choice. Do you find yourselves switching lenses a lot. If you do the Tamron is a perfect solution.
      I guess for concerts you might find 150 a bit too short though.

      @@JonathanPalfrey so I’m testing out the Tamron right now, just did a fashion shoot and for that it was amazing, but 2 things… First; it is heavy to hold it during a 3hrs shoot and I can’t even imagine using this for traveling when I wanna just bring 2 lenses my Sony 16-35 GM and this Tamron 35-150. On papers it’s the perfect two lens travel kit. But again the weight it’s a little annoying. Second; the 150 is short a little bit, I used to own the Sigma 24-70 and Tamron 70-180 G1 and sold them for this lens, because I wanted to upgrade to a lens that can cover events, concerts, indoor sports with fast autofocus! So I am still debating… but might just need to switch my A7IV to the A7RV and problem would be sold. 61mp is enough to crop in. My 33mp A7IV is only 14mp when I crop in for longer reach. Or just switch back for the good old 2 lens combo (maybe consider the Tamron 28-75 G2 and 70-180 G2 but I’m not sure if that autofocus would keep up with sport videos). The Sony 70-200 f4 macro sounds good but f4 for indoor sports or concerts might be an issue.

    Anyone knows a similar option for Canon RF?

    Hi, What are alternatives for this lens? And what do you mean it is a dull lens? what lenses you could.recomend that has more character than this lens?

    • @JonathanPalfrey
      @JonathanPalfrey  5 місяців тому +1

      The Samyang is the direct alternative. There’s also the Sony 28-135 although that’s F4.
      It’s a very clean and simple sharp lens, there isn’t an equivalent lens with more character but there are cine lenses and vintage lenses which could be considered more interesting/show flaws if that’s something you want.
