  • Time to hit the forests again for a wild camp.
Never done a winter camp before, so thought we'd give it a go before the weather got too tasty. Although definitely willing to have a bash in worse weather. It got fairly chilly, but stayed above freezing, so we haven't managed to join the below zero club. It's something to aim for :) along with a snow camp. Although should be able to crack those to together.
We got bumped from our first choice by one of the land owners guy. He was pretty cool, didn't go mad about us being there, just made it clear we couldn't stay, but was good enough to suggest another fairly local spot, which is where we ended up.
Jay went for a more "glampy" style with a full on tent, table and chair, it wanted to get closer to nature, so opted for the standard army issue basha and bivi combo. Worked as expected, kept me out of what weather we did have, warm and dry.
We made use of a Swedish fire log for a bit of extra heat and light, it burned for around 3.5 hours.
All in all, a fun evening eating, drinking and talking scheisse, so no change there then :)

I have a British army bivvy bag and basha, and together they weigh almost as much as my Vango Tempest tent so I might as well take the tent and be more comfortable. More expensive tents will, of course weigh even less.

Hi Henry, thanks for dropping by.
I suppose it depends on what experience you're after. I have tents, hammocks, newer tarps etc, and its true that modern equipment is lighter in weight and I may change the kit I use if I know where I'm going and what the conditions will be like, but the basha is so versatile its definitely earned its weight in my rucksack.

🇬🇧👏👏👏first 'Tuber I've seen giving tarp clamps a mention! Hobgoblin too 😍🍺

I love the tarp clamps, adds a whole new level of versatility to any piece of kit...as long as you get it done before the hobgoblin 😅. Heres another video ( ua-cam.com/video/7xt5_Sqo9F4/v-deo.html ) which shows the clamps being used on the BA gortex bivi, and is the main reason I initialy bought them, cos I didn't want to go poking holes in all my kit.
Thanks for watching Billy, and taking the time to comment, it really helps the channel grow.
Stay safe and have fun - Andy
