Solo wild camp under a British Army Basha | Simple camp food

  • On this trip I had a solo wild camp under my British Army Basha. I haven't used it in a long while so it was a pleasant change and, I forgot how big it actually is.
Setting up under a nice low bowed spruce tree which gave me great cover and more shelter.
My sleep set up was a new Mil-Tec bivvy which is much better than the Alpkit bivvy.
A Klymit Static V mattress, trusty old Alpkit Pipedream 400 sleeping bag which I only use in a quilt fashion.
During my time here, I cooked simple camp food consisting of noodles with kielbasa sausage sliced up for and evening meal.
Breakfast was bacon and eggs cooked in the Trangia mini frying pan heated up using an alcohol stove made by Des Catty's.

Tim, the wood is looking fantastic with the Spring growth and flowers👍 The Basha really does give some camouflage. Loved the colour of the tea seeping out in the clear water. Noodles are hard to beat for cost, simplicity and calories and always good to throw something tastier in👍 That must have been a long night without💤 though the breakfast was definitely handsome👍

    • @BourneOutside
      @BourneOutside  2 роки тому

I can’t wait to see the wood in full swing. It’ll be quite something!
That tea water was quite arty, wasn’t it?! 😁
The noodles and kielbasa are becoming a bit of a thing for me. As you say, nice and cheap and fills you up.
The night went fairly quick as I kept topping the fire up and watching the flames. The awake time goes quick looking at bushcraft tv and that seemed no different 🔥

Alright Tim, apart from the lack of sleep, that looked like a nice chilled camp. Was that a Yew tree that you slept under - maybe that's the reason why you couldn't sleep?
It's funny how it goes sometimes. I used to be a hardened hammock camper but then started to get a bit fed up with the faff of setting up the hammock and finding that sweet spot for the perfect hang. I switched to ground dwelling, sold the dangle sack and haven't really looked back since.

@@CottonBud Hello Rich, I find the Klymit Static V is a lovely and warm sleep mat. I couldn’t feel the ground at all and, I don’t think I ever have and it wasn’t chilly at all.
I shall experiment and inflate it less and less and see how it goes.
Thanks for taking the time to try and suss out what the reasoning may be 😉👍🏼

They do do a range of herbal teas but that isn’t my thing. Just give me one of their normal bags 😁👍🏼

Nice one mate , yeah that was a nice spot well tucked away 👍 Any paths near it or were you well away from the poo hanging dog walnkers 😂🏕🔥👍

Haha, hello Pete. The paths are right up the top end. Anyone who would come down to there would have to go off trail. There is a path around the perimeter though, outside the wood. This is mainly used by the farmer/farm hands.
It was nicely tucked out the way.
The poo bag is still hanging there 😁
Thanks for watching and coming in for a chat 😉👍🏼
