A misty day up on the mountain, but not enough to put off this intrepid explorer :).
Wind was dreadful and the ran out of power about half way up, which made the audio pretty unusable, so I ditched it and added a sound track instead.

Exploring Woodgate Valley Country Park: From Watery Lane to Memory Lane.

Today, I dive deep into nature and nostalgia as I meander along the Bourne Brook on Woodgate Valley Country Park. Nestled on the outskirts of Birmingham, this park isn't just a sanctuary for wildlife; it's a place filled with memories of my childhood days spent jumping brooks and building dens among the hedgerows and fields. As we wander along the paths, I'll take you on a journey through time,...
Creating The Perfect Plough Point With A 3x3 Tarp!

Probably the easiest tarp set there us other than the cowboy roll, but crucial to know none the less. The plough point can be set up anywhere, but is especially suited to woodland with well spaced trees, or even fields with single trees.

In the woods and under the Basha with Lister
I picked one up several years back for $65. It has been my main mobile camp stove, have even adapted it to work in a transi
It’s almost 50 years ago since I carried a heavy load whilst backpacking. We had two kids and used a 4 person ridge tent. I carried the tent and all my gear plus water and most of the cooking stuff. I had a brilliant framed rucksack from Millets. I’d never have managed without that. In fact at the end of one outing, I carried the ruck sack and my lad on my shoulders from Ladybower to Bamford station. Now, at 78, I have knackered knees and back and lots of good memories, which posts like yours help me to recall.
ive just bought the geertop one man dome tent but cant see any reviews for it yet but couldnt resist the £43 price tag..its blue 210 x 140 ..it says reduced from £415 but not sure i believe that..weight 4.7lb
Hahaha. Love it 😂
That's the way 👍😎💪
Cheers Andy, As soon as i watched the vid back, I knew what the sound track needed to be...lol
first comment bro
appreciate it bud :)
Have this replaced the external frame or is it just another tool?
Still using the external frame. This was supposed to be the halfway bag. Not entirely convinced yet. I'll see how I feel about it in a years time, but in my last trip, I missed the Tatonka.

How to stop the "coughing" flame? Always makes me afraid of using it because of that
What about consideration for landowners rules of access???? Uffmoor Wood for instance .. your dog should be on a lead everywhere except the designated off-lead area. It is clearly stated at every entrance point that camping is absolutely not allowed.. nor is the lighting of fires.. for obvious reasons in an ancient woodland. Was permission sought to set up camp etc? If it was, it would not have been given. Why just use the site on your own terms? Why pinpoint and expose the wildlife in turn drawing the attention of poachers?? This clip may not be specifically about Uffmoor but you have made a clip in which you have confirmed you are there doing what you do, what YOU enjoy doing but which you really shouldn't be at that location. Do you not think it worth pointing out to your followers that checking out rules of access to any land you intend to use is the FIRST thing to do? And to not pinpoint particular species of wildlife ... for their safety and wellbeing?
Hi Bev. With reference to this video, it was shot over Clent in an area designated as Open Access, meaning I can use it for recreational purposes, such as videography, and I do not have to stay on designated footpaths. With relation to Uffmoor, the video where I saw the deer, was filmed over 2 years ago, and the area I am in is/was a dogs allowed off lead area. Although private, Uffmoor is also open access land (according to OS maps), so I am allowed to use it for these purpose. I have never "camped" over Uffmoor", and we have had a conversation on site about my filming activities. (probably around the time of the other video that seems to have annoyed you) Dogs on leads is a weird one, there are local byelaws that state when a dog must be on a lead, and private land, access or otherwise is down to the landowner, however the general rule is that unless otherwise stated, dogs must me on a lead March to July. On public rights of way (footpaths etc) however the law is that the dog must be under control. With reference to the Deer video, its clear that Lister was under control. When it comes to wildlife, the main reason for going out is to capture on film and experience it. Not everyone can get out, and so they rely on videos like this to get a sense of what its like. I know Uffmoor has had a problem with poachers, but pretty much every visitor that is fortunate enough to capture an encounter, immediately gets it up on social media. Having said that, I was over at the weekend and have seen the state some people have been leaving it in, (scorched ground and litter at at least 3 locations that I saw) this behaviour is totally unacceptable. I'd be happy to work with you to create a video to capture the beauty of Uffmoor, explain what it means to use the are responsibly, and highlight why its important to look after these spaces. You can mail me andy.owtnabowt@gmail.com or whatsapp me. (you have my number) Andy

What do you mean by Meths? Is it methanol?
Hi vuaeco. Its methylated spirits. TURN THE ANNOYING MUSIC OFF WHILE YOU TALK FOR GODS SAKE
Interesting mods, 3yrs on are you still using this and hows the paintjob holding up? Like you i was issued the turtle back, back in the 90's I hated it but then my co thought we were an infantry unit the amount of tabbing and infantry exercises we did. As a RadOp I really needed something bigger. I honestly had no idea how versatile it was, never thought of compressing it with the side zips. Good job.
That so clever,i love it,thank-you 👍
Its my neck of the woods these days, been here 18 years now. The land management around here and the reservoirs in recent years has been great. Lets hope the council continues with it. And lets hope the kids grasp the 'leave no trace' concept. As for filming, tips, reviews, trails, wildcamps, I'll watch them all because i solo camp too. Ive been a subscriber since realising you were fairly local. So I'll continue to watch, like and support the channel as its very informative, particularly when your filming locally 😊👍 Thanks for the vids.
Thanks Chas?.(just a guess, he was morphs mate after all😄 ) appreciate the support and the sub. Still plan to do the camps and how to's. But planning some more local stuff as well. We have a lot going on round here.
Wey Hey, my back garden now and then. Lovely to see someone paying it some attention in a good way. Unfortunately as kids we do not see the beauty of green spaces . I was one from QM watching the Bartley lot from our bridge! Glad it all ended tbh, they were stressful times. But as an adult i now hate how the kids of today are destroying Woodgate with litter, motor bikes, drug parfinalia etc. Things i do not remember from my childhood. Either we had more respect or them things just didnt exist back in the 70's and 80's! (Hard to believe) But Woodgate Valley is a wonderful place to be discovered by the young and old alike. And thanks for the memories!!
You're welcome Lisa, and I'm glad you enjoyed.it. I agree with you that we really didn't make the most of having it on our doorstep when we'were younger. Its nice to be able to appreciate it now. And who know, maybe in 30/40 years time, one of the kids who's on a motorbikes now will make there own video. :) (although they'll never know the pleasure of bridge ownership..lol)
What is the stand you used to hold your alcohol stove? And how did you make/buy your rain skirt?
The little stand came with the burner. Its the Polymath phantom. Ive linked the amazon page below. The rain kilt also came from amazon, but no longer available. Ill link below so you can see the specs. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07GSB6XJ1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B083LFBLQT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Brilliant set up thanks 👍
Try a SVEA 123 and let me know. Mine is 40 years old and works like new. It has one moving part. It was the stove that was carried on the first climb on Everest.
This is my go to setup. Simple and quick. I like to run a low ridge line as well to spread it out if it gets windy.
Thanks Michael. Yeah I really like this, particularly if you get caught out in the rain because of how quick it is. I'll be posting some more "advanced" setups using ridgelines and trekking poles over the next few weeks including a modified version of the plough point.
Bravo
Can't find it on the App. Any chance you can post a link?
Hi Gavin, Doesn't look like they have it now. Worth taking a look at there tent section though, cos they have lots of different styles. I also have the cabin max clam shell bag and it’s so useful my son takes it on holiday, we all use it. The expanding capacity is ginormous. EasyJet used to allow them in the over head locker, that’s why we brought it.
great piece of kit, just a bit out of place in the woods :)
I like that back pack a lot.

Great video, could you share the tarp info plse
Unfortunately it 's no longer available, but its just a £25 cheapo one off amazon.
Thanks 👍
Why is that god awful horrible music there? I can't watch the video because it's too distracting.
yeah, a little louder than I thought it would be. was hoping it would mask some of the traffic noise from the near by M5 :(
i'll try a repost without the music, see if its any better.
Good ❤❤❤❤
Your dog makes this video so enjoyable. Have recently subscribed as new to a bivi .
Excellent shelter and nice tutorial. I agree with not having to spend a fortune, there are plenty of tarps out there for a fraction of the price of DD etc that will keep the rain and wind off you.
Thanks Paul. I dont get it with expensive tarps either. Even with all the extra tie-outs they just don't seem to be worth the price.
Listening to the rain was so enjoyable.
nothing like it. Sends me off to sleep.
So useful to see your design.
cheers. been a while since i put this vid up, but still use this set up whenever i'm in flat open space.
now I know what I pay my tax for,the fire brigade traipsing around the middle of nowhere dragging an animal and someone who should know better out of a hole,I hope everyone realises the game of pool they were playing has been disrupted
and money well spent it was too.😂 I am fully assured that winner stays on was in operation so they were able to continue their game without too much disruption.
Wow lucky dog, that was a big drop onto some hard rubble. I'd have been straight down after her as well! No idea how she came out of that without an injury.
Yeah, still stunned we got so lucky.
I have been using similar clamps for over 18 years they are amazing.
Oh my goodness, so glad she's ok❤, it could have been so much worse. 😮
Thanks elizabeth. It could have been a lot worse, we're very grateful that she wasn't injured, although no idea how. Fortunately she's pretty much back to her old bouncy self now, acting as if nothing happened.
Nice pack that mate 👍
Yeah, looking forward to getting it out for a proper test. Planning Ben Nevis in the next few weeks, so might take this up.
So happy she was ok.
Omg poor thing, be safe 😢
Thanks lifewithmisty1. She's all good this morning. Back to her happy bouncy self as if nothing had happened.
Ah, mate not what you expect out of a walk. Good on you for getting in there with her. And good on the brigade - just as well your partner/friend was with you. Well, I trust she's well now. All the best. Mark
Cheers Mark. It was horrifying cos she jumped past me so I watched her fall. Honestly thought I was looking a her last moments. I had to get in, she's only a pup and was terrified, even tho the sensible thing was not too. Hopefully there're no hidden injuries, she seems okay, just a bit doped up from the vets painkillers. I'm sure she'll be back out with me soon. Thanks for popping by to see how she is.
@@owtnabowt2723 A pleasure. Ah, you got to do what you got to do - the horror of it got you in there. So pleased she's alright.
useful vid.. good overview.. Thanks
Thanks RH. I'll be doing a long term use review on it once I've had it for about a year.
