thanks Neil at italia autos.
Thanks Neil, great video as usual. I put TRW pads on mine a few months ago and they are very nice, with a very progressive "bait", but I found that the caliper did not go back enough to accommodate them easily. Had a hell of a time to make them fit past the rotors.
Since I did not change the rotors they starting to squeak. Rotors next I think.
Much appreciated, I’m confident to take this on now😊
Massif disk replaced by vetitated disk ? Hm....
Wow, never realised how easy it is to change the disks and pads.
Вентилируемые должны были быть изначально на этих суппортах! Хорошая работа.
yes i thing somewhere along it live someone fitted the wrong ones
Far more interested in that silver 145/146 in the background!
Did this like 2 years ago but it would have been lot easier after this vid xD
Do the pin sliders need some lube like silicone paste or leave it alone?
Hello, was your conversion from solid to vented discs a straight swap? I want to do the same on my 156. Thank you
Great video! Would this process be similar on a 2002 spider?
Yes the same.
Done this job already - should be easier next time!
Thats sounds Its can be a pig to do! ... gone Let it do Its the brakes no shit with that 😉👍
The 156 has the same turning circle as an oil tanker. Any idea why? I think the wheels are restricted by the suspension design.
RTL it’s the double wishbone configuration. Not enough room. That’s why the Mito and Giulietta doesn’t have it,
Why the copper grease at the top and bottom of the pads. Changing mine on my 159 this weekend great vid Neil
Neil Bargelli that’s where they move against the carrier.
@@ItaliaAutos thanks changed the discs and pads thanks to your vid
Thx Neil! Changed all my pads and bled the brakes on the old 932B 156 SW (dirty fluid and air in abundance) but now have a pedal with way-much-travel. I wonder why? Anyone have any idea why?
Bleed bleed bleed then
@@ItaliaAutos … bleed again!
Thanks 👍 smart vent Disc is it the same on my 147?
It should be, the suspension setup is identical.
@@kahumike thanks I think the same👍
Hi,im my 156,1.8,warning light, breaking pads indicator sometimes start to show ,breaking pads are New,is it problem in indikator??
bad connection.
Alfa 156 have the brake pads indicator on both wheels or only on one side?
ONE I THINK
@@ItaliaAutos Tnx
any vids with alfa 166?
Nope. One day there will he some
Do you favor a certain make of pad ?
These are trw. Decent quality
you don't have to remove the shackle at the back and front, at least in the alfa 156 2.4 sportwagon
Nope you don't on the back, but sometimes disks are really rusty and won't come out unless you remove it fronts you have to remove it.
Why they mounted non ventilated discs? The 156 Mk2 has ventilated discs as you mounted... i’ve done the upgrade on my Mk1 a year ago
Like he said in another video this is a "cheap" version of 156 with a basic 1.6 TwinSpark 105 cv. Probably it was a "super" entry-level for the British market.
@@LucaScarpellini3d Ah ok... He didn't even change the calipers though. When i've done the upgrade i had to change the calipers
Hi dont you bother to torque up the bolts? This is critical especially with brakes
I Torque up critical bolts. Nornally do this off camera.
@@ItaliaAutos can I suggest it's done on camera as some people will take your process as literal or at least mention torquing up to the correct setting thanks for your reply
The old disc was not vented but the new disc was!
backwards mod by A PREVIOUS owner
Good time to bleed the brakes while you're in there too - get some fresh fluid in there ..
Nigel & Diane Blackler yes it is.
How not to work on your car. Use an axle stand so the car doesn't fall on yo when the jack collapses.
