    It's sometimes true. If you have a quite new car with no special brakes, the job is straight forward. Surely in this video some small steps are a bit shortened, but even with getting the car up and down this doesn't take more than 10-15 minutes. BUT if you have an old car with rusted parts it might take a bit longer and also the mechanics where I worked for a short time used anti-seize on the pads and they cleaned the parts a bit more thoroughly. You also have to count the time for the order of the brake pads. So I would say, depending on the car, 15-25 minutes is about right to calculate for one side brake pads.

    Always amazes me how quick this guy is at doing these jobs.I was wondering what my garage gets up to by billing me 2 hrs labour for doing front brake pads and discs.Most of the time they must be sat on their arses.

    why does he use a special tool press before removing the second brake pad?

      The mechanic used the second block as a spacer since the diameter of the release plate is less than the diameter of the piston.
