    nice video, i have had also problems with retreving the rear pistons but i have seen a tip to make it easier and i will try it next time, loosen the bleed valve to release the pressure and the dirty brake fluid will escape the brake cylinder and it should be easier to push the pistons and there is less risk of dirt coming back to your abs pump with the old fluid,
    you are so lucky to live in a place where corosion is not a problem, your alfa is so much easier to work on without the rust

    • @alfaromeonoproblem
      @alfaromeonoproblem  2 роки тому +2

      Hello. Yes, that tip works but... Air can get into the caliper. Make sure to bleed it a bit afterwords.
      And the abs thing is true. But if the fluid is so bad like that what it needs of more frequent fluid changes.

    Hello, thank you for the good video. In my opinion it is better without music. Your English is good and understable.

      Thank you very much! Sometimes i put music so the video not seems so long. Being a tutorial video, it can always pass the 20min mark. I use music to be better. But yes, less or no music sometimes is better

    Once again thanks for this , I just replace my brake pads on my 156 and the piston was very soft to retrieve. I will change tomorrow the right side and the spark plugs too

      Do that with the engine cold. And if you feel resistance, don't force it. Spray a bit of wd 40 in the holes. That go left and right on the plug until you feel it come out better.

    24:15 shouldn't there be a metal shim between brake pad and the caliper to slide easier? It comes with some brake pads.

    A few things I've noticed, that I am not sure are correct.
    1. You used WD-40 inside the caliper piston. Not sure that WD-40 is safe for the rubber boot?
    2. You used ceramic grease between the hub and the disc and between thedisc and the wheel. Because the disc is coated, I don't think you need that.
    3. You use copper grease on the slider pins. Copper grease is oil based. It is just a reguar bearing grease with added copper particles.

    • @alfaromeonoproblem
      @alfaromeonoproblem  3 роки тому +2

      Ok.
      1 you can use wd 40 on rubbers. Use it for years now on several makes and models on the workshop.
      2
      I use the ceramic grease because the hub needs to be protected. The rotor is new, the hub is not.
      3
      The copper grease in this specific case is not oil based. It's supplied with the guide pins kit.
      All my methods have some years of testing.

    I bought a new rear brake discs and pads for my 159 (Brembo coated discs, and Brembo Prime pads). But I don't have all the tools required yet. For example, I don't have the caliper piston retraction tool. On 159, does the tool need to rotate the pistons clockwise too? And is it the same on the left and the right side, or does one side need clockwise the other counterclockwise?
    eLearn says for the rear brake caliper pistons: "Use the tool to turn the brake caliper piston anticlockwise to move it back in its housing."

    • @alfaromeonoproblem
      @alfaromeonoproblem  10 місяців тому +1

      Hello. Brembo discs and pads are not the best bet... but try out.
      To Push in the pistons is just like on that video. Both are clockwise. Rarely, some cars have the left one anti clockwise. But with Bosch caliper

    • @DashCamSerbia
      @DashCamSerbia 10 місяців тому +1

      @@alfaromeonoproblem I know you had bad experience with Brembo. But I like Italian brands, so I like to try them out first.
      Strange that eLearn says anticlockwise. :I
      Also says 550g for the air con, but on the forum they say it is wrong, it should be 460 g? :/

    Nice one! How many km do you usually drive to bed-in those new pads and discs? I changed all my 156 SW pads and for the first 15km or so the pedal travel was very long. If it was a customer’s car I’d be wary of handing it back before a good hard braking session. You too?

    • @alfaromeonoproblem
      @alfaromeonoproblem  2 роки тому +1

      Hello. Long pedal travel can be expected when the discs have a big lip. If not you should not have much travel. But you can have low efficiency on the first Kms, take a look:
