Amazing videos I am learning a lot. Is there a way to tell the finished size of the squares. I am making a blanket and would like to use as many different designs of square as I can but they all need to be the same size.

Thank you! I’m so happy to hear that you’re enjoying the videos and learning a lot! 😊
Yes, you can definitely make different designs work together in a blanket. The finished size of each square can depend on a few factors, like the yarn weight, hook size, and your tension. To ensure all your squares are the same size, you might want to do a gauge swatch for each design first. If one square turns out smaller or larger, you can adjust by using a different hook size or adding a border to make them match in size.
This way, you can mix and match as many designs as you like, and they’ll all fit together perfectly in your blanket. Happy crafting! ✨

Do you know if there is a standard size lap blanket to make w the granny squares?

There isn't necessarily a strict standard size for a lap blanket made with granny squares, as it can vary depending on personal preference and the intended use. However, a common size for a lap blanket is around 36 inches by 48 inches (91 cm by 122 cm) or 40 inches by 60 inches (102 cm by 152 cm). You can adjust the size by adding or subtracting granny squares or by adding a border around the edges. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide what size works best for your needs and preferences.

I love all your videos, you've been such a great teacher! I've become a crochet addict. But I have to ask, when I have all these granny squares how can I connect them to make a blanket? Are there different methods? Do you sew it instead of crochet ? Could you possibly make a video on how to connect them?

I'm thrilled to hear that you love the videos and have become a crochet addict! Connecting granny squares to make a blanket is a fantastic project. There are various methods for joining them, and it often depends on the look you want for your blanket. Here are a few common methods:
      Single Crochet Join:
Lay the squares next to each other and single crochet through both loops of the corresponding stitches on each square.
This method creates a raised seam on the right side of the blanket.
      Whip Stitch or Mattress Stitch:
Sew the squares together using a whip stitch or mattress stitch, working through the back loops only for an invisible seam.
This method creates a flat seam on the wrong side of the blanket.
      Join-as-you-go:
This method involves connecting the squares as you crochet them, eliminating the need for sewing or crocheting them together afterward.
It's a bit more advanced but can give a seamless look to your blanket.
Creating a video tutorial on connecting granny squares is a great idea! And I will make one as soon as possible.
Experiment with different methods to see which one you prefer for your blanket. Happy crocheting, and enjoy making your beautiful blanket! 🧶😊
