This gentleman has the most relaxed POWER STANCE I've ever seen. The power to take on anything at the drop of a hat while simultaneously assuring us his tutelage so that we too may find the power within ourselves to get that sack of bunk refrigerator chilling again, gosh dangit!!!
Great video for older models of fridges .... We need some updated videos of how to fix the newer refrigerators because they don't use that style defrost timer anymore and the cold controls like in this video
This is one of the best videos to diagnose the cooling problem with a refrigerator or freezer. Typically, when the freezer does not get cold enough, it is because of the ice build up in the evaporator coil preventing it from circulating cold air to the rest of the freezer section. The most common problems I've seen are bad defrost thermostat, bad defrost timer or a bad defrost heater. However, it could be any of the 6 possible problems that he pointed out and it could be simply that you have to clean the dirt off the condensing coil first which is the easiest thing to do. I noticed after I cleaned up the condensing coil, I can run the fridge at a lower cold setting than before, indicating that the compressor work more efficiently and thus saving energy. This is exactly what you need to follow step by step procedure to diagnose and troubleshoot your freezer or refrigerator. Well done!
Wow..it worked! My whirlpool frigerator freezer had quit freezing.and was thawing out. I found this wonderful troubleshooting guide and followed the instructions and im proud to say it is working perfectly..yall saved me hundreds of $$$. It Is laid out simply so even i could do it. Thank you so much all of yall. Thank you youtube..yall are my best friend for this ol widow lady.
what was the issue ? I'm having the same issue, freezer is no longer freezing and ice maker isn't working. There is frost and ice build up on the evaporator. I changed thermostat but it seems to be not changing anything.
Yall are my go to when something in my appliance is wonky. I buy parts from you most often. I even had my appliance repair guy buy parts from you because they were faster and cheaper than getting them through the manufacturer for them. haha. God Bless.
Excellent video! I want to order just to support this company! Gives confidence to people, to at least feel like they have a a clue what is happening to their appliance. I can’t do the repair, but at least I will have knowledges when I hire a repair person. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Btw the gentleman is amazing at explaining along with his pace and voice.
Thanks so much for helpful videos. I did the 1st recommendation on this video (clean dust off of coils) and it worked! My freezer which was warm started making ice again. Keep up the good work. I have used this website before to fix my dryer and order parts so you have saved me a lot of money!
Great Video! Thank you for taking the time to create a great video on troubleshooting refrigerator cooling problems this is a great help for me! Thank you again!
Helpful video sir. Great presentation. I have a 23-year-old side by side Kenmore that has been trouble free. It only cools to about 15F on freezer side. How do I find a repairman who will check for all these things? My repairman just checked model number to see how old it is. Then said you need a new compressor, How did he know without checking anything you mentioned, other than looking at coils in front and seeing they were clean.
You would have to call around in your area to see if you can find a certified tech to come look at it. Your repair man may know what he is looking for if he is saying that the compressor is bad. If you are referring to the evaporator coils inside the freezer that are clean then that can be a sealed system issue which could mean you are needing more freon or the compressor has failed. That is when you would need to have a certified tech to come look at it. Those coils inside the freezer need to have a nice even frost pattern on them.
I watched this AFTER I ordered $50 worth of parts from Amazon. I fixed my fridge 2.5 years ago and it crapped out on me again and it turns out knocking the cold control made it kick back on.
I have the Start Relay it reads 5.5 ohms and does not rattle. I also have the Overload attached below the relay (one pin) and it reads 0.6 ohms. In short, everything works on my GE GBS22KBSBCC refrigerator except the fridge will not go below 40F and the freezer will not go below 33F. So, what would not allow strong cooling .....if the start relay was bad or the capacitor? Defroster, thermistors, evaporator fan, condenser fan are all working and the coils are spotless. I even checked the three prongs on the condenser and got a 8.4 ohm on the two main prongs, 4.5 ohms on the left and 4.2 ohms on the right. My Embraco 1PH condenser has a label on the side reading "LRA of 11.5 EGU 70HLC' 115 - 127 V". My multimeter read 0.8 amps when it is running. The Capacitor multimeter read 11.85 uF (210 VAC 50/60 Hz @ 12 uF). Some history - In July 2016 I did had a technician add R 134a and in October 2018 I had to add an evaporator thermistor since my evaporator coils were an iceberg and it was not triggering the defrost mode; refrigerator was warm but freezer worked fine. NOTE: I made a video of the Start Relay arcing with the Overload when the compressor was called for power; there was just a click sound but no compressor. Then, 90 seconds later, it called on it again and the compressor hummed away. When I took it apart again the Star Relay gave the same reading but I noted it was VERY hot. Could this Relay still be bad but not activating all the time thus overheating because it is sometimes working? If so, maybe this is why the temperatures cannot catch up. With that said, I do not know the spec for my compressor amps but had some hand written notes from the 2006 technician (when he filled my R143a) stating the original amps were 0.7 and after he added 4.5# the amps were 1.55. His notes also read "spec = 1.5 to 1.7 amps). Should I purchase a new Relay and, if so, is it "good practice" to purchase a new Overload, also? They are very pricy at $76 and $80, respectively......for a piece of plastic! ANY direction would be greatly appreciated by you.
Checked my thermostat. It did not show continuity so I ordered a new one. Same. Does not show continuity. I put it in a cold water, still the same. I can't put it in icy water as the fridge is NOT working, hence the reason I need to test it. So, how do I know if the thermostat is good or not ?
Here is a question... what if you want to repair your unit and it is aged out of the part? Where can you source parts since the manufacturer is no longer mandated to make them? Are there after market or universal parts that can be sourced?
My heater element measures 0.03Ohm. I think that is normal, but the video shows just continuity... could that be the reason I have ice forming on the evaporator and not cold enough freezer ? Its a 81 usd part and I just changed the thermostat. I do not see the defrost timer anywhere in this fridge. It might be part of the circuit board, as there is none. I looked at the front and back and nothing. Whirpool wrf990slam02
Hi, my Kenmore Elite bottom freezer is not freezing enough. Compressor turns on, condenser is clean and evaporator inside is not frozen. Only the top right of the evaporator (inside freezer) shows ice buildup. Any suggestions? Thank you.
It sounds as if you could be having a sealed system issue. You would need to have a tech that is certified in that area of refrigeration to come look at it.
Just go by the process of elimination. If everything else checks out replace the temp sensor. If that doesn't fix the problem, replace the refrigerator.
Mine is Kenmore Elite 795.72053.110 ...I hear one click and then compressor starts so does the fan below...but fridge not cooling at all..?? what could be the problem..? any guess any one ??
MINE WAS WORKING AND NOT WORL, CUS COMPRESOR BEHIND DON'T WORK , NOT HUMMING SOUND., (iS fRIGIDAIRE gALLERY, 2 DOORS WITH ICE MAKER AND FRONT BOTTOM DROWER)
I don't think a freezer temperature switch would switch at 60C or 20C. That's 140F and 68F. On the other hand, 6.0C and 2.0C might make sense. That's 43F and 35F.
A couple words or missing, bad microphone or something..When you say abou the fridge being unplugged and warm i cant tell what you say after that. Screws up video for me.

Your video is setting me into motion to tackle our 'ice on the evaporater' problems.
great video!!! should of known with the confident power stance!!! ha! for real this guys a great teacher! seems like just a good person.

My fridge section is holding temp at 37...the freezer went down to -8 and then back up to 0...any idea? I cleaned condenser, checked defroster.
Excellent video . Many thanks .
Where would I find the ohm spec sheet for a kenmore elite
Excellent instruction! Thank you

I always check ebay. If not that, Amazon, and a general google search.
Hey, where is the defrost timers "advance" screw? My model is frigidaire FRS26R4A. Thank you

Are you able to hear the fans running? What is your model number of the fridge?
It sounds as if you could be having a sealed system issue. You would need to have a tech that is certified in that area of refrigeration to come look at it.
@@appliancepartspros I placed a thermometer inside and the max temperature reached was 23 degrees
With the way you said that there is only ice build up on the top right corner of the evaporator it sounds like a sealed system issue.
You are Best
Where can I find that chart to test my temperature sensor with?
Just go by the process of elimination. If everything else checks out replace the temp sensor. If that doesn't fix the problem, replace the refrigerator.

Why does the freezer compartment of Frigidaire won’t stay running when Frigidaire is in a cold building?

the meter was set to diode test mode not continuity...
Thank you for letting us know.
this video has no audio, other videos on site work proprly
We are sorry you experienced that issue with the video. It seems to be working now. If you have any more issues just let us know!
That was diode mode not continuity mode.
Very low audio.
Why is my fridge warm and my freezer is freezing
You could be having an issue with air flow not coming into the fridge. What is your model number?
bro look like your ready to rumble a bear
If there is anything we can help you with in the future please let us know.
A couple words or missing, bad microphone or something..When you say abou the fridge being unplugged and warm i cant tell what you say after that. Screws up video for me.
We apologize that happened. Thank you for pointing it out!
A lot of information but no clue what will actually work.
