Just wanted to say that this guy is very detailed it really helped me how he goes through step by step performing each check, my problem was that I couldn't get any water into the dispenser following his instructions all I had to replace it was the water inlet valve now is working he saved me a lot of money thanks again 👍👍👍👍👍😊
Great video as always! Keep up the great work. Just one suggestion to the home diy’er: If your ice maker is still working and your water isn’t, you might want to START by checking for a frozen line in the door - snaking a bit of weed trimmer wire (a foot or so) up the nozzle will let you know if the line is clear or blocked (you should not encounter a blockage, but the first two-three inches involve a curve so there might be a little resistance). If your problem does turn out to be upstream after all (regrets), starting with the last part of the diagnostic checklist will at least give you confidence that you are hauling out your toolkit and multimeter for cause. In my case, I saved that extra effort and got it going by turning the fridge off for an hour, opening up the freezer and taking a hair dryer to the inside of the door for a few minutes. (FWIW, I had been making lots of ice and freezing ice packs for a neighbour who had lost his power PLUS had just vacuumed a whack of cat hair off of my condenser coils, which seems to have pushed my freezer into super-cold mode :).
@@RKMDCats we got a new (used) lg 3 door refrifdgeration and it makes ice but ther water doesnt dispence. I knew this before buying but i want to fix it. it was not plugged in for over 24 hours. I plugged it in, then attached the water line 5 minutes later. Tested it right away and no water dispenced... So it cant be a frozen line. any suggestions?
For me, I just pulled the connector off the solenoid like he did, checked the continuity. It showed good, and when I plugged the connector back in, it started working again. Over time the connections can become loose, so for now it was just a loose connection..... THANKS!!! This video is great help. Hopefully, I won’t need it again...hahaha
Thank you for the detailed step by step sir!!! Frozen water line. Shut her down for about two hours and the ice came free. Cleaned my fridge coils with the brush while I was at it!
Great video. My dispenser was running very slow. Pulled the fridge out an inch and it started working. I guess over time the fridge got pushed back and was pinching the steel braided line.
HERE's the FIRST THING you should check. At the water-line coupler (mine was located behind the lower front panel), disconnect it and 1) Quickly tap the dispenser to see if water comes out. If so, 2) then blow through that tube that goes upwards to the dispenser. See if you can blow air through it. IF I had done that, instead of the steps in this video, I could have saved some money. The water line going up to the dispenser had debris in it. I ended up replacing that line for less than $5.00. It's much easier too than the steps outlined in the video. However, if my 1 & 2 don't work, then check the micro-switch behind the dispenser mechanism. If those easy steps don't prove anything for you, then follow the steps he has outlined. So easy to change inlet valve. Less than $35.00 🙂
Hey, this comment helped me fix my dispenser! Thanks so much. I disconnected the coupler, and pressed the water dispenser and water came out the tube that connects to the coupler. Which meant the tube leading up to the dispenser was clogged with something. So I shot pressurized air through it and blasted whatever it was out. I didn’t get a glance at what it was cuz it shot a splash of water in my face, but it works great now. Thanks again!
Excellent videos as always. Very informative. Have an issue with our LG water dispenser not working but can hear the solenoid activating. Already replaced with a fresh water filter with no difference. Originally had a slow water dispensing for a while and now nothing. Will review the assorted faults as per this video. Thanks.

I would check the switch at the dispenser first since it's the easiest to get to. Especially, if it is an intermittent failure of the water dispenser. A continuity check would rule out a bad switch, but even if it's good, check the terminals on the switch and the inside of the terminal crimp fittings. They're usually made out of cheap metal that corrodes. Clean all surfaces with fine sandpaper.
Very well made video. My only issue is that it is just generic enough to be helpful to a cross-section of users, which is a good thing. However, some units do not have some things mentioned while troubleshooting. In my case, I wasted time looking for a water filter return line... which my fridge doesn't have. 😮 Other than that, it's a good video.

I was having a similar issue with my water dispenser, did some research and troubleshooting and found out it was the water filter not seated in all the way in the housing. Put a piece of cardboard between the filter back and door and dispenser started working fine.

Hello, thank you for your informative video, can you help me troubleshoot the problem I’m having right now with LG LMXS30796D. It will dispense water like a glass or 1/3 of the pitcher then will stop completely. We need to wait for hours, sometimes more than 1 hour then water will come out again, same amount if I continuously press the water switch then will stop again. We need to wait for long hours for water to be dispensed. When I press the switch, I can hear a click switch and humming sound but no water coming out. Can you help me please which parts is damaged so I can buy at your website? Thank you so much, your response would be highly appreciated.
Well we had this happen so we tripped the breaker and reset it so all power was removed to the fridge which released the solenoid and water is now on again , just a sticky solenoid valve yay for that hope this helps
I used a ziptie to check my water dispenser. It was a frozen line at the dispenser so i used warm water with a medication syringe and it cleared it in 1 minute!
Followed waterline replace video for Kenmore Elite Trio model 795.775. Also replaced filter. Now, ice maker fills but water doesn’t dispense through door. Water will dispense 4-6oz if actioned simultaneous with ice maker requesting water (by stops when ice maker is full 5-6secs). Dispenser area yields buzzing sound but doesn’t open valve. Both valve solenoids yield 384 ohms so solenoids appear okay. Can’t get control panel off to test switch. Since I never touched dispenser or switch during repair, didn’t think switch was likely culprit but need video to know how to remove dispenser area assembly (2007 model). Also, how do I (safely) test call from dispenser to water valve solenoid while under power to prove electrical cxn is sufficient (amps?). Or how to tell if problem is bad solenoid valve (gasket) and not electrical? Does front door dispenser buzzing yield clue?

After the first 2 pints of water dispensed the flow started visibly reducing down to a trickle. Do you have any other suggestions what I could try next? The ice maker has always worked fine
Hi. I’ve unplug the water tube at the point where it connects with the fridge on top. When I press the water dispense, water comes out to the bucket. So this means the water pump/valve is working, and I assume the dispenser switch is working. What other comments might be causing for no water to come out?
Question, if you can answer. Our water dispenser works just fine when we first start using it. However run the water long enough it stops. I used to be able to remove the water filter, pump the dispenser switch a couple times, reinstall the filter and it would work again for a bit. I've already replaced the valve assembly thinking the solenoids were simply tired, but it didn't fix the issue. I can't imagine it's the water filter assembly, but I have one on order. Could this be an issue with the mainboard or something else? Thank you.
On my Samsung RS261MDRS, the water isn't dispensing. I hear a click of a switch, but cant tell if its the physical switch or the solenoid triggering. Previously the water dispensed if the paddle switch was depressed at all. You'd have to press it all the way back to get ice to come out. In the days right before it stopped, I'd have to flip the selector between water and ice one or two times and press the paddle all the way back to get the water to dispense. Does that give any indicator if it's more likely an inlet valve or dispenser switch problem?
It sounds like the water does work when the switch connects to send power there, so it sounds like you will need to replace the case assembly for the dispenser. You can check the wiring for any loose or damaged connections, but if that is good then you will need to replace this part, DA97-12095C. I pulled the filter and the water flowed as normal so I thought it was a bad filter. I have a whirlpool side by side. My water suddenly doesn’t dispense with filter installed, but when I take filter out it works. I change my filters every 3 to 6 months. I last changed it in September 2023 and it just recently started having this problem. Sometimes I can reseat the filter and it will work for a couple glasses but then stops again. Take out filter and it works. Could it be the filter head mount?
You could be having something going on with the filter head. Could be missing an o-ring or something. What is your model number and we can look into this for you.
Motor kicks in when trying to dispense water, but no water comes out. Ice machine is also not working. Looked at the filter and it seems to have water flowing to it (it dripped upon removal) so is it the inlet valve then?
Water flows to our filter but then does not dispends. I put a new filter and can hear it fill up with water when pressing the switch but then it does not come out.
I've done all the above, but there are massive air bubbles in the lines. It had great pressure for about 10 seconds and then absolutely nothing. Nothing but a ton of air in the line now, but there is water from the valve. Solenoid has power and was moving (some) water when disconnected from the line.... any ideas?
Water is going to the ice maker but not being dispensed through the water dispenser. But it does seem to be sending a signal since the water line shakes when dispenser is pressed.
@@AndroidGuru13 the line was frozen in the door. I think there was another comment about that. We pulled fridge out from wall and could see water line shake when we tried to dispense water so we knew the switch was working. I unplugged and opened door for 10 or 15 minutes. Then used a hair dryer on inside to warm the door. Plugged it in and checked, had a little water. Warmed it a little more. Probably took less than 30 minutes total.
@@RKMDCats If you get used to using hair dryer or heat gun to thaw, one day you will unintentionally warp the plastic mold and regret it. Invest in a Bissell Steamer to thaw ice like the professionals and it will save you headache
Instructions easy to follow. My refrigerator actually had an extra valve before the water dispenser. That one works, but the dispenser one does not. Hate to say this but ordered the part from Amazon. Was $90 (yes, ninety) less expensive. Sorry to do that to you, but saved the delivery charge too.

I have water leaking from from the salad side of the refrigerator there is a plastic triple pee trap that has cracked what is that part called. It traps little particles that maybe in the water.

How about this one: Water will not flow to the ice maker or the drinking water dispenser in the door with a filter installed. I replaced the filter and it still will not work. I bought a 2 pack so I tried the second filter and nothing. Remove the filter and everything works great.
Did you ever solve the problem? I just now put a small piece of cardboard between the back of filter and the filter door and closed it. Seems to be working that way for now. Perhaps I wasn’t getting a good connection
Just solved the problem. After taking almost everything apart, testing the valves etc….the water tubing turned out was frozen, right at the curve just before the dispenser. This time the hair drier was placed at the right spot. Lol…..If I had to pay my grandson for his help, I’d be broke…but happy!
Mine just need some lub ( petroleum jelly ) on the arm that hit the dispense switch. After that it worked like it was brand new. Dont forget to lub the door too! Thats all life needs is a little lub 😉
So i put a new freezer drain tube, and Unfortunately didn't work, when i do not have a filter in it works and flows the water no problem. But my filter is on the bottom i plug it in and it doesn't flow water. Ill try the water line. If anyone has a fix for this please let me know. I have double door Kenmoor refrigerator.
@@appliancepartspros Hm i just bought a new one. I bought two, as the first one wasn't working. This one does not work either, is it the size of the filter? Also i took off the water line and such, i see no issues with it as the water flowed straight through. It has something to do with the filter or filter Connection or wire.
You will want to make sure you are using the filter that the manufacturer recommends for the model you have. After-market filters can cause issues. If you are using the correct one then you will need to replace the water filter head or the water filter housing depending on your model.
I shut the water supply valve off underneath the sink, but when I disconnected the fridge line water went gushing full thottle!!! Come to find out my shut off valve was NOT underneath the sink. Thanks

This may be just what we need to do! We have ice just no water dispensed. We hear it activate when we press the dispenser…just no water.

My problem was that the water pressure was too high. If you hear hammering noise and no water, then reduce the water pressure.

Nothing but a ton of air in the line now, but there is water from the valve. Solenoid has power and was moving (some) water when disconnected from the line.... any ideas?

Water is going to the ice maker but not being dispensed through the water dispenser. But it does seem to be sending a signal since the water line shakes when dispenser is pressed.

@@AndroidGuru13 the line was frozen in the door. I think there was another comment about that. We pulled fridge out from wall and could see water line shake when we tried to dispense water so we knew the switch was working. I unplugged and opened door for 10 or 15 minutes. Then used a hair dryer on inside to warm the door. Plugged it in and checked, had a little water. Warmed it a little more. Probably took less than 30 minutes total.
@@RKMDCats If you get used to using hair dryer or heat gun to thaw, one day you will unintentionally warp the plastic mold and regret it. Invest in a Bissell Steamer to thaw ice like the professionals and it will save you headache
I have a Frigidaire gallery refrigerator and I can’t push the water button. It won’t light up all the other buttons on the panel work though?

If the filter is bad could that be the problem
Instructions easy to follow. My refrigerator actually had an extra valve before the water dispenser. That one works, but the dispenser one does not. Hate to say this but ordered the part from Amazon. Was $90 (yes, ninety) less expensive. Sorry to do that to you, but saved the delivery charge too.

I have water leaking from from the salad side of the refrigerator there is a plastic triple pee trap that has cracked what is that part called. It traps little particles that maybe in the water.

Water is not dispensing in my whirlpool refrigerator. I replaces a few parts already but still nothing. Water is getting to the freezer and is still making ice. what could it be? thanks Barry

How about this one: Water will not flow to the ice maker or the drinking water dispenser in the door with a filter installed. I replaced the filter and it still will not work. I bought a 2 pack so I tried the second filter and nothing. Remove the filter and everything works great.
I’m having that issue now. Logic tells me it’s the filter dispenser head.
Did you ever solve the problem? I just now put a small piece of cardboard between the back of filter and the filter door and closed it. Seems to be working that way for now. Perhaps I wasn’t getting a good connection

Put in new filter and now water drips from dispenser. Old filter did not drip. Yes I ran water til no air sounds from new filter
What is the problem if the water does go to the ice maker but, not water dispenser?
Just solved the problem. After taking almost everything apart, testing the valves etc….the water tubing turned out was frozen, right at the curve just before the dispenser. This time the hair drier was placed at the right spot. Lol…..If I had to pay my grandson for his help, I’d be broke…but happy!
Mine just need some lub ( petroleum jelly ) on the arm that hit the dispense switch. After that it worked like it was brand new. Dont forget to lub the door too! Thats all life needs is a little lub 😉

So i put a new freezer drain tube, and Unfortunately didn't work, when i do not have a filter in it works and flows the water no problem. But my filter is on the bottom i plug it in and it doesn't flow water. Ill try the water line. If anyone has a fix for this please let me know. I have double door Kenmoor refrigerator.
If it works without the filter, then you have a bad filter.
@@appliancepartspros Hm i just bought a new one. I bought two, as the first one wasn't working. This one does not work either, is it the size of the filter? Also i took off the water line and such, i see no issues with it as the water flowed straight through. It has something to do with the filter or filter Connection or wire.
You will want to make sure you are using the filter that the manufacturer recommends for the model you have. After-market filters can cause issues. If you are using the correct one then you will need to replace the water filter head or the water filter housing depending on your model.

I shut the water supply valve off underneath the sink, but when I disconnected the fridge line water went gushing full thottle!!! Come to find out my shut off valve was NOT underneath the sink. Thanks

Water will not shut off once it starts flowing
What is the model number of your fridge? It sounds as if the valve could be bad or you could have a switch stuck.
I removed a bunch of ice packs from the door with the water line in it and boom no more issue
