SDR - Standard Dynamic Range, so anything that is not HDR High Dynamic Range. Yes, Filmmaker Mode on initial viewing will look like that as all the other modes are inaccurate and pushing very blue whites and blown out colours. Yes, they are good for all 2021 LG models. No, if you are in Filmmaker mode for HDR with 100 OLED brightness you should be fine with no issues with image retention.
@@avforums im using film maker for all profiles, HDR and SD with 35 of OLED brightness, and dolby vision home cinema, to be sure to not have image retention. Why 100 of brightness havent impact to burn in? Are you sure?
Same here. I worry about burn in because it happened on our Oled C7 & oled brightness was set to 80 most of the time. I read elsewhere that to prevent burn in Oled Brightness shld be set to no more than 50-60. But i also wonder if 100 is necessary to get the true effect of HDR or Dolby Vision. @@virginializcano3935 if it causes burn in using filmmaker mode, as LG set it, then it is LG’s problem surely as most people using the TV would select filmmaker mode and leave it as it is. Just like any other mode on the TV.
Hello, thank You for the video! I can afford the G1 in the same price like C1. I am from Europe but some reviewers from USA say that C1 is better?! I am watching much SDR, sports and gaming.
I gave 2x C7's(55&65), 1x GX(65) , and 1x G1(77) and I hate the G1's UI! Setting are ugly and less intuitive and the home menu kills whatever you are watching before launching another app. So much slower and more cluttered! GX UI was far better and the G7's are clean and pure joy to use. G1 also seems to be a step back in audio quality from GX... Starting to think I should have pocketed $1000 and went GX.
Hi - I am super confused about how to get to the different picture settings. I was following your video and did everything you said to do for "Filmmaker mode" but then when you transitioned to talking about HDR Select Mode at 4:57 of this video...I don't see how you get to that becuase there is a spin effect and then you are already in that mode. If I click on "settings" and "picture" at the top my choices are: Filmmaker mode, Expert (Bright space daytime), Expert (Dark space night), Vivid, Standard, APS (auto power save), Cinema, Sports, Game Optimizer. If I click on settings and go down to the three dots for "all settings" and click on picture and then select mode, my choices are the same categories I just listed. It's weird because sometimes I also see "cinema home" as an option but not right now. And just to clarify, I definitely do have an LG G1 OLED Evo TV. I also could not figure out how to find Dolby vision. I have spent hours looking at manuals and talking to friends trying to get the settings right. Do you have any pointers?
Oh - scratch some of that.... I figured out that if I am viewing my TV with the Apple TV on I can get to the Dolby mode - one other question I have though is after I go through all those settings, do I keep clicking "apply to all inputs" - like do I do that after filmmaker and then again after cinema and then again after cinema home?...I'm still not sure how to get to HDR mode though.
Hi again - ok- I figured out how to to the HDR settings as well. When I put in the 4K of Rear Window it let me access that. I guess my main question is : After you click all the settings for each picture mode: SDR, HDR and Dolby Vision to you also click "Apply to all inputs"? You said that after doing filmmaker in SKR but didn't repeat that direction after the other modes so I wasn't sure.
Yes we do as Filmmaker is the most accurate, to the industry standards, so you can see content as it was mastered and intended to be seen. There is not too much green in the image, the white balance is accurate to the standards. Other picture modes, such as Standard and Vivid have too much blue, reduced green and no red energy. Moving from such a preset to Filmmaker will highlight white balance changes, you need to give it more than a few minutes, as your eyes are probably used to blue light and blue whites. If you look at the written review or our video review, you can see in the charts how accurate Filmmaker Mode is.
I now have that Gamma isn't greyed out anymore but it's selectable. Ofcourse I set it to BT.1886, but yesterday it was BT.1886 by default and was grey meaning not adjustable Edit: I did a settings reset and even complete factory reset, but gamma stays adjustable in filmmaker mode while it first always was greyed out and at BT.1886 default
BT.1886 should only be for SDR content... which is its native color space. HDR/DBV should be 2.2 in the Gamma, or 2.4 if you like but it crushes blacks in my opinion.
To do the Dolby vision setting you must feed the tv with Dolby vision content. To adjust the HDR setting you need to feed an HDR source to the tv. Simple, not?
You need to feed the TV an HDR signal by playing something in HDR10. We use the Spears and Munsil UHD disc which allows you to change between Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HDR10, as well as SDR.

Is there any way I could get rid of the yellowest tint on the LG G1 and have it look like a cooler blue? I prefer the A90J 65 picture but the LG G1 is better for gaming and I can get a 77 inch at the same price as A90J.
Yes you can adjust it to warm or cool in the color menu at the bottom of the menu in white balance.
Thx Phil for a very informative video. Just bought the LG C1 and I’m setting it up as per your advice. One question though - when watching Netflix with Dolby Vision, the aspect ratio tab on both Cinema Home (User) and Cinema (User) is greyed out. So I am unable to check the Just Scan setting. Any idea why? Thx for any help.
Think it may be to do with the Video Streamers policy or decision, in this case Netflix.
Just Scan is on by default for all inputs in all picture modes, which essentially means Over-scanning is disabled, which is what you want.
Great video! Do you have one like this for the A90J?
Not yet, we are still waiting on our review sample in the UK. As soon as we have that we will be doing a settings video.
@@avforums will you also get the A80J?
Yes, once there is a sample available
I just can’t find a way to go in my settings from SDR to HDR and Dolby. Can anyone help??
Only way I know to do it is to get content that is in those formats. Easiest for me was to change the video output settings from my appletv

This settings are good for the new B1?
Oled Brightness at 100 is not bad for Burn In?
LG B16LA
Im thinking of setting oled brightness to 55 for HDR & 100 for Dolby Vision since I don’t use Dolby as often.
But I don’t think 35 for oled brightness is necessary. 50-60 should be fine.
In my opinion c1 is better g1 has same pink lihgt
No veo corregir tdt ni satelite ect en sdr
I gave 2x C7's(55&65), 1x GX(65) , and 1x G1(77) and I hate the G1's UI! Setting are ugly and less intuitive and the home menu kills whatever you are watching before launching another app. So much slower and more cluttered! GX UI was far better and the G7's are clean and pure joy to use. G1 also seems to be a step back in audio quality from GX... Starting to think I should have pocketed $1000 and went GX.
You don’t show how you got into HDR mode
Just feed the tv HDR content
You do same regardless cx c1 or gl filmmaker has too much green to it
Yes we do as Filmmaker is the most accurate, to the industry standards, so you can see content as it was mastered and intended to be seen.
@@avforums i have the cx coming soon i will use filmmaker for my hdr 4k movies definitely what about my 4k sport what should i use for that
Use the same preset or one of the ISF modes, but you may want to use TruMotion for fast moving video content.
What am I doing wrong. Filmmaker mode only has one setting (user). How did you get to break it down sdr, hdr, dolby?
Feed the tv HDR content. Feed the TV Dolby vision content Sherlock
How is the hdr menu accessed this doesn’t appear to show up in my menu
I now have that Gamma isn't greyed out anymore but it's selectable. Ofcourse I set it to BT.1886, but yesterday it was BT.1886 by default and was grey meaning not adjustable
Edit: I did a settings reset and even complete factory reset, but gamma stays adjustable in filmmaker mode while it first always was greyed out and at BT.1886 default
BT.1886 should only be for SDR content... which is its native color space. HDR/DBV should be 2.2 in the Gamma, or 2.4 if you like but it crushes blacks in my opinion.
How do I change to HDR mode if I don't see it available?
Just feed the tv HDR content Sherlock
All that was very fast and difficult to follow. What I cannot find is HDR. Why are my menus different to what’s shown?
Where is Dolby vision as well? Very strange that my menus are so different yet it is an OLES 65G1.
To do the Dolby vision setting you must feed the tv with Dolby vision content. To adjust the HDR setting you need to feed an HDR source to the tv. Simple, not?
I just found out the other day that the C1 and G1 are the same panel and same processor.
Try to turn ON Reduce Blue Light for more accurate color (Blue Filter).
No, you don't need to switch on Reduce Blue Light, as Filmmaker Mode is already accurate and measures accurate.

🙏👍
Cant select HDR mode????
Just just have to feed your tv HDR content. And for the Dolby Vision settings you have to feed your tv..... Dolby Vision. Like from Netflix.
Looks sane brightness as CX and X1 nowhere near Sony A90J
Hey how to you change it to hdr from SDR in the picture mode
You need to feed the TV an HDR signal by playing something in HDR10. We use the Spears and Munsil UHD disc which allows you to change between Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HDR10, as well as SDR.
Can the G1 be ISF Calibrated?
Yes.
