    I feel there might be a mistake here. If playing games, it is ideal to change the picture preset to game optimizer mode and enable HGiG. This allows the TV to bypass its own internal HDR tone mapping and allow the display to use the game's tonemapping.

      Hi, I live in US and in dilemma to choose between Sony A80J and LG C1. A80J is $400 more than C1. I am just a movie lover and not a gamer at all. I am going to put my TV in my living room which is not too bright and not too dark. I like watching movies by switching on the lights while my kids love to watch in dark.
      1) Is it really worth to push my budget $400 more ? That means, the picture/video quality in C1 is not good and I definitely need to choose A80J or the quality difference is minimal?
      2) Can I achieve the same picture/video quality with these settings?
      3) As a movie lover, what do I need to do get the best picture/video quality so that I don't need to spend $400 extra and I don't miss much?
      TIA.

    We just setup this 48 inch C1 tv and love the picture quality compared to the Vizio we just returned. The only thing is, I wish it had a more extensive manual to explain all the features and the operation. I went online to the LG site and they didn't have a manual for the C1 model. Hopefully I can find a detailed printout of the features somewhere. The little bouncy mouse is a little hard to control trying to navigate the screen

      Exactly what I thought, I noticed that was missing too, because I have the LG CX OLED TV, (and I have the Xbox One X connected to it), and I want to get the LG C1 TV because I want to get the Xbox Series X someday and I have the HDR Effect picture mode on as default, so now to get HDR picture setting you now have to mess with the settings more and go deeper into settings to get HDR picture, which will take more time to find/achieve than on the LG CX OLED TV because it doesn't have the HDR Effect picture mode like the LG OLED TV has which I like better because it was faster/easier to find to get HDR.

  • @TrueComboKing
    @TrueComboKing 2 роки тому +1

    Just got the 55” version for my room yesterday, through Amazon. Said a little prayer that my TV wouldn’t be mistreated as it was delivered and the Lord listened and my TV came here pristine. :)
    This TV is absolutely insane. I had a Vizio D55-U1 (I think that’s it’s name) which was a great TV for my needs, which are primarily gaming. That Vizio was the very first 4K TV I ever purchased and it impressed me a lot when I first used it and first experienced 4K. The best thing though? Had a super low input lag for gaming AND games, even PS5 ones, looked pretty great on it.
    This LG though….my word. Right out of the box, the TV picture was exceedingly clean, crisp and beautiful. I tweaked it a bit per instructions from Rtings and it still looks phenomenal. When you play a game on ps5 or whatever, though, you shouldn’t need to change many settings which is crazy. I actually haven’t touched my gaming settings because Elden Ring looks amazing on mine right now.
    One thing my vizio did not have was HDR. That was some that, at the time, “I couldn’t care less about”. I remember myself saying that. Now I know what I’ve been missing. I have to go back and play Horizon and Dying Light 2, again because HDR is absolutely insane. Makes the game so lifelike having actual shadows casted in such clarity and what-not.
    If you’re on the fence about getting this TV and you can afford it, I suggest you buy it. I thought 4K was 4K and it didn’t matter, nah. A 4K LED vs a 4K OLED isn’t even a fair fight. The OLED is so clean it looks like a picture.

    • @RTINGSdotcom
      @RTINGSdotcom  2 роки тому +2

      It comes down to what content you're playing. If you're playing SDR content, you'll be in a SDR picture mode and can make changes to your liking. When you switch to HDR content, it'll change over your settings and once again, you can adjust them to your liking. Moving forward, when you go between SDR and HDR, the settings you changed will stick!

    Since this video there have been a ton of updates to both the TV and the game consoles (I'm only aware of the Xbox Series X).
    Do not use the console in PC mode for 4:4:4 chroma, it's negligible for the naked eye and not worth the loss of a few features. The Xbox will recognize movies and TV and change to a cinema setting for the TV. You can turn VRR to gaming only in the Xbox Settings as well.
    I then adjusted settings for SDR gaming, HDR gaming, and Dolby Vision Gaming. Then HDR cinema and Dolby Vision cinema.
    SDR gaming - I keep it brighter, close to 150 nits settings and use BFI.
    HDR gaming - I use around 120 nits settings, and VRR Free Sync, Boosted Low Latency mode. Both consoles are AMD based hardware.
    Dolby Vision - Use out of the box settings, VRR Free Sync, Boosted Low Latency mode.
    HDR Cinema - Same 120 nits settings, BFI and motion interpolation to be easier on the eyes and smooth the 24 fps.
    Dolby Cinema - Out of box settings, BFI and motion interpolation as well.

      @michaellubeck8464 3 роки тому

      picked up the 48 inch C1 yesterday at BEST BUY for 1299$ on sale..added a 300$ 5 year Geek Squad warranty also...the HDR 4k UHD content is mind blowing, but most content i watch is not in that kind of resolution - 65% of what i watch is probably TV shows broadcast in SDR or maybe full HD - and for that kind of content, my Sony 900F or probably a Samsung qn90a would look sharper - which is kind of a bummer - and YES i have seen the GRID EFFECT on many white scenes - or kind of like moving lines in "lower resolution content." - i put lower res content in quotes because even content filmed in 4K will appear kinda washed out (my sony 900f looks sharper with this kind of content) unless the highest resolution is used, in which case that's where the TV really shines..i also haven't played with the calibration yet, so maybe it will look even better once i do...i just wonder if the qn90a would look better than the c1 for the 65% of SDR/HD content i watch on Discovery Plus APP or Pluto TV news..

    I just purchased the 77" C1 an have it connected to my Yamaha RX-A850 Receiver. All my inputs go to the receiver before going to the LG C1. I use a Fire Cube connected to the Receiver to run all my aps, HBO, Hulu, Amazon, Disney, etc. The PlayStation is also connected to my receiver. Only one HDMI goes to the screen from the receiver. I recently got the CS model (btw your C1 settings do look on the CS aswell ^^) and was wondering if it would affect the TV negatively (more & faster burn-in for example) to use a higher OLED brightness in SDR?
    Like if it's daytime and I'd want to use 70 OLED brightness, would that be worse for the TV than leaving it on 35 as I use it right now.
    I'm curious as it's my first OLED TV and I'm scared of doing something wrong.

    2) Can I achieve the same picture/video quality with your suggested settings?
    3) As a movie lover, what do I need to do get the best picture/video quality so that I don't need to spend $400 extra and I don't miss much?
    TIA.

      Hello!
      So for most people, we expect the C1 to be a great option. The A80J is really more for people that want the better picture quality, no matter the cost.
      The ideal room for an OLED TV is as dark as possible, but it still should be okay in a moderately lit room. Between that and our suggested settings, you should have an amazing experience with the C1!

Then I go to HDMI4 which is using the same picture profile and expect to find OLED brightness is now 50. But it’s still the default value of 60. It didn’t change.
