Thanks, Keith, for the review. My family and friends always thought I was weird for buying a brand new guitar and then taking it completely apart. But I see that you do the same thing. This is a lot of bang for the buck. Why would anybody pay $3000.00 for a brand name when you sound that good for less than $200.00? p.s. I liked your first tune. Simple and fun!

I got the lizard burst fflp,I had wanted one but when I went to order, they were out, so I went with another brand IYV LP the pure green model, the fflp is more like a 50s les paul, big baseball bat neck, thick heavy body, easily 10+pounds while the IYVs is about 8 pounds, with a slim tapered neck, more like a 60s LP, it's nice having two great looking LP guitars that are totally different, one a 60s and the other a 50s LP, I did have to shim the holes, just like you did, and I cut the nut a little better, the IYV needed no upgrades,I put probuckers in the fflp but they are too clean for me, so I'm going with different pickups, and grover green plastic period correct tuning pegs, really ok guitars for the money.
Interesting about the differences between the FFLP & the iYV’s weights & necks. Which FFLP color did you get? I ask because the Classics & Elites are slightly different as are the “Metallic Blue” (Pelham Blue) models that have a human involved in the neck carving process.

Hey Kevin! I’m not big on telling folks folks how to spend their money but if your price range is in the $200 area, for me, Fireflys are a great option. But as with any budget instrument you might need to do some set up work to get it the way you want it. If you can do that work yourself, great. If not be prepared for a possible trip to your local guitar shop/luthier/guitar tech to have them set it up for you. Setups generally run between $35-$70. With that understood then I’d say sure, take the plunge.
I bought a Blue Berry FFLP and I can tell its all hype. There were no high frets and the fret ends were not sharp and the tops of the frets were polished a little. But the intoneation was out. It had had a feeble attempt to adjust the intoneation but to no avail because the bridge is crap. I bought replaecement bridge off of amazon its a roller bridge but it has some slack side to side play but it is not there when the stings are tightened down on it and its better than the one the guitar came with. I found no blemishes in the paint. It holds a medium pick in the first fret but i can not adjust it down anymore. Its not the low action that I wanted. Its playable I guess. I have harley beneton G3 copy and it has a lot better action and came already set up. This FFLP was not set up and action is diapointing. The bridge pickup rattles ocassionaly. Its a beautiful guitar though. I love it but I have to figure out what I need to do to get the 6th string to come down so it will hold a thin pick. So I can play it more easily. If I lower more it buzzes bad. It was cheap though. could I do better for 189 dollars no. Hey the tuners are pretty good I am going to keep them they work smooth no glitches or slips. My tuners are good not a reason to replace them and uless you just want say I got thes name branded ones. If you got the bucks do it but mine dont need any tuners. I could not get the neck flat but it adjusted with the slightest gap under the fret board leveler. Not bad but Im not ever able to make the gap go away? I can on other guitars but this one nope. If the gap was any bigger I would try to send it back.
The bridge is solid. No buzzing. The tail piece is neat. I’ve never used a TP-6 style before. The fine tuning aspect of it is functional, but I still mostly just use the regular tuners. But it’s visually appealing, which is the main reason I got it. Just to have something a little different.
