I got the same color pattern but with 3 humbuckers instead of 2 microphonic pickups. I took it to a local luthier and got it set up for around $75. They were amazed at how good a guitar it was especially for that kind of money. I absolutely love mine and it sounds wicked good. I may change the pots in the future and add a 5 position switch (because of the 3 pickups) but otherwise nothing else needs to be done with it. Great choice and value. HIGHLY recommended!! Thank you for your review. MarkA
Thanks for that info Mark, that's good to know how different they can be with a different configuration. Great to hear the feedback from your Luthier too
I'm delighted you're happy with your new guitar. I too, have a Chinese LP copy. It cost me $125. In time, the cheap gold plating on the hardware faded, and if you try to clean it, it comes off! So after about 18 months of having my guitar, I decided to replace all the hardware with black. Now it not only sounds good, it looks sweet as well. Enjoy your 18 months, and then go black! 🎸😎🤣
I would love to see how this guitar is made in the Factory since the quality isn't consistent ive heard some knobs didn't work or the bridge vibrates to them sending the wrong color and ive had issues with my Firefly FFLX model..
I imagine any guitar at the $200 price point is going to have some inconsistencies in the quality control side. I think of it as still a valid price even if some of the problems need fixing yourself...apart from the wrong color that is :-)
I bought about 8 or 9 gibsons, their quality isnt consistent either hahaha. Im scared to buy a Gibson because I live in Australia and we obviously get the "whats left" guitars after everyone in the US has picked the quality ones. So much bad binding work and just poor quality
I wanted to put Jaszzmaster pickups in a 335 so I bought a Grote. Dropped some J. Mascis JMs in it. Did some minor fretwork that took about an hour, and the hardest part was routing out the humbucker sized cavities so that the JMs would fit. I added locking tuning machines and a fresh wiring kit. The guitar only cost me $160. I spent $200 on the parts. For less than $400 I got a guitar no one has that I'll never sell that plays and sounds amazing was a blast to make. Means way more to me than an MiM Fender ever would and it cost me less. No brainer.
Cool vid, and cool guitar! That thing is pretty, and you sounded great with your set-up on this. I dig it! I really like the offerings that Firefly has out there. They are bringing us some fun guitars for not a lot of cash.
Thanks Jimmy Z, I've got to be honest, this was my first Firefly venture and I was very impressed with the playability and the sounds too. Thanks for your feedback
I have the same exact model (Eleat), color and all - you didn't steal mine did you? Tuners are solid on mine too. Neck is great. You get a little black on your fingers at first, fret board treatment ?. But that ends with a good wiping after a few hours. Lowered the action , went low and no fret issues. Amazing for 5his price!!! This is a solid quality built guitar. (For 200!) Haven't looked inside but controls feel solid. Pick-ups seem fine to me and balanced. (Some have said they are a bit microphonic, but I don't play loud and live so I don't know, but you could put whatever you need in it, ) My top seam is dead center on body, no discolor in binding. Headstock is aligned proper. I like the gold with that body color, but that's my eyes. Went through 5he strings already ( love playing it) and have NYXL 10s on it. I agree with your review.
I bought the all black version of this fflps a few months ago..did a review also.great weight.plays well..I think the price for the quality is spot on. I think some would even pay a hundred or two more and still say it's worth it. I wouldn't..lol,only because I love sub $200 guitars,,Great vid.great review!
I picked up a Firefly FFLP Classic for the same price, Kawasaki green. I'm used to a Fender Squire so the neck feels chunky, but very good overall. Ernie Ball 2227 (3227) strings, action and pick-ups set to normal LP specs.
I bought the white one with black binding there are flaws throughout the guitar the action was extremely high, and the nut was not bone but plastic the body is not mahogany its basswood and the fret board is jabota. I also had to level some of the frets and change out the cheap strings that came on it.
A couple of things The quilt top on the firefly is a photo top you can tell because there is zero movement if you look at a real quilt top guitar you'll see a huge difference. Also guitars with that style of switch are usually shipped with the switch tip off. 200 is pretty cheep for a guitar so I'm sure it's worth the money but I would save up more and get something a little nicer.
Good feedback thanks. Actually on this there is movement on the quilt when you look at it, I have a couple of PRS guitars with a very deep quilt and although this isn't of that quality it is still very good. In terms of saving your money, the point of this video was to show that if this price was your limit you can still aquire a decent enough guitar
$200 plus shipping. Then you figure in a set of pickups that are any good and now you are up near $300 for the guitar. Next $35 or so for good enough tuners and strings. Next a decent set of 4 full size pots and you are now closer to $350 or more. Epiphone Les Paul is looking better at this point. If Firefly would sell you the Guitar finished stripped with no hardware at all for $125 then I would be interested.
Firely reputation proceed them. They are the woods they say they are. Excellent brand and excellent price. The pickups need changed out, thats about it. This guitar is every bit as good as any epiphone les paul and in some ways even better. At least you can still get a rosewood fetboard with firefly for way cheaper. By the way, yes the nut is real bone as well. Kinda an asshole the way he went into this.
If there was nothing wrong with a 200.00 dollar guitar then it wouldn't be a 200.00 dollar guitar. Definition of insane when you keep buying cheap guitars and expecting no flaws or you have to do some major mods. Just buy a better guitar.
Good objective perspective Frank. It's all about perspective, to many $200 is the high limit for a guitar purchase and the intent of the video is to show you actually can buy a guitar of quality at the price.
If you got the money, sure, lay down a few grand. The delta blues often came by Sears and Roebuck catalog. Can you even imagine that kind of excitement?
Unboxing isn't for everybody I guess Doug. I actually see that part as having 2 uses, firstly and most importantly it gives the watcher an idea of what to expect if they are considering buying the item. How the product is boxed, the care and attention, will it arrive safely (especially with budget guitars) and secondly it also adds a little light hearted entertainment. Luckily for those not interested in the unboxing UA-cam provides the ability to skip past that part. Hope you liked the guitar, it's surprisingly good, even in my hands :-)
Just forward through the video. A lot of people like the unboxing, I am not one of them either. But I did love how he just ripped off the foam shroud LOL!
I feel like the care a company takes in packaging their product is kind of telling about the care and pride they take in manufacturing their product. That's the part I look for in the "unboxing" process.

It definitely can be a crap shoot. And not just for Fire Fly guitars!
Definitely taking a chance when you can't see and feel the guitar first, but so far I have always been lucky

Got a LP and a tele, love em both!

1st vid of yours I've seen found it entertaining so subscribed 🎸🎸
Thanks Malcolm

Thanks for the comments, I agree. In my opinion I think this would still be a good guitar at $400
Nice Guitar! Tomorrow I open a epiphone les paul modern bourbon burst! I Hope it's a good guitar! Thanks!
Very nice Papa Blue! I hope you enjoy it. Epiphone make an absolutely cracking LP
Im in the north woods of Wisconsin USA... Its fun and peaceful to play the Guitar isnt it...
Oh it's a wonderful way to pass the time!
i saw Ibanaez usin decals on some of their guitars and looks like wood ops as well so i dunno if others are following suit.

Jolly good show Governor, where you on your schedule from your holiday! A half pint of ale at room temperature to keep the guitar tune properly, lolol!

just placed my order,,,fflps blue,,,220 total,,,how long before it arrives to upstate ny area?????
I believe mine took around 3 weeks
7 Business Days
Looks and sounds great!
Thanks for the response, pretty good value for money

The top is NOT a Photo. It's a VENEER! Open a PUP cavity, look and then make a statement. Otherwise you sound like an idiot.
Not at all. No firefly I've owned which is 13 fflps. And I've seen and played probably close to double that and not one was a photo. They were veneer.
Hey if you want the silver Firefly hardware I have a 338 that I want to swap to gold and we could swap hardware I do live in the States
Thanks Jeff, I've grown to love the gold, kind of sets off against the black
I see that your action is super low. What are the numbers for both E strings in mm? And how much buzzing are you getting?
I haven't measured but I'm not getting any fret buzzing
The gold hardware gives character! Great review!!
Thanks for the feedback Smokeeater. I totally agree about the gold 👍👍

Well as all of that is optional you can say those things about any guitar

@@abritto-go4585 I didn't watch the whole video which might of helped, how did the guitar play.
@@frankquarrell4431 it played very nicely, very hard to knock any of it tbh
Awesome keep up the good work.

Knock off DiAdarrio strings. Mahogany neck ;-)
Do you always repeat things twice?
I don't know do I? Do i?
Seriously,you sound Simple..
Repeat things twice? 🤔 So, that's 4 times? Is it? Is it 4 times? That's 4 times, right?
Just take it out already holy crap bro
But he seems out of breath just trying to unwrap the Styrofoam cover. Not to be mean, just saying.😮
How about we just get over this 'opening the box and unwrapping the cheap guitar' waste of time ? The build and sound are what matter.

That's almost exactly what my wife says, except the word isn't "guitar".
Grow up man, you sound like a Simpleton.
The gold looks great but with grey is kinda odd
I agree, I'm not convinced with the gold against the grey
? I'm
Grey burst all right
