I was a fan as a kid in when they began and they have suddenly gotten under my skin again these last few weeks. Don't know why or how I started on this trip with them again but it has been so so sweet. Something like withdrawal grips me if I miss a day without hearing his voice and I must return to them. RIP Mark David Hollis. Thank you Talk Talk.
One thing in common whenever you see Talk Talk playing live is that the drummer is a beast. They are all very talented (the bassist is my favorite) but Lee is a monster, non stop. I've loved TT from the very beginning and endured so many years of people "not getting" their genius and unique sound - it was a little lonely being a dedicated Talk Talk fan in the US during the 80s and 90s. They were like my little secret but now, so many years later and sadly with the passing of Mark the world is finally waking up to their amazing sound and creativity.
i am still trying to take it all in, 64 was too young, i admired everything about the man, his ethics, his humour, his voice and music, a very speceal person
@@jackieoreilly3295: As you said 17, I started to calculate too and I just realised I was 12. OMG! Thank you Mark, Lee and Paul, you guys made me happy back those years. RIP Mark.
I had just got engaged at 21 , to my future wife , here we are celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary . Time moves so fast , great song then and a blast from the past , just jaw jaw not war war 🆘
November 1984 I met a girl in a doctors clinic, and it was truly love at first sight. I was 21 years old, and she was 23. My gosh…a very beautiful girl, but not easy to win her heart.(I’m white/she’s black). Our son was born in 1994. End this year it will also be our 40th “anniversary”. We never got married. I’m still so in love with this beautiful girl.! Congratz to you both from us.!!! Greetings from the Dutch Caribbean.! P.S. April 2022 our son gave us a beautiful granddaughter.
Simply one of THE musical geniuses not only of his generation, but of all time. One of the saddest weeks of my life, and I'm not alone. R.I.P Mark Hollis. You will be missed forever.
I loved him from this song and it only got better. I couldn't fathom why he quit but I hope he lived a very happy life....shocked still that he's gone...
it's been 40 years since I discovered talk-talk, and without hesitation if I have to leave with only one choice, for me it's their music that I take. It's been 40 years already and it still touches me as much. thank you gentlemen..rip Mark
Marks vocal and lyrical genuis touched a world wide audience for a reason ,he was an absolute legend ,the world saw it and he was taken too soon ,God bless ,wow that band were something eh !! ❤❤
at this point a fun, jumpy band. Mark Hollis's hair grows out year by year until the Montreux clips here from 1986 -- and the band grows so much musically. And then....the leaders esconce themselves in an empty church and create Spirit of Eden. Breathtaking. And then, and then...Mark decides it's done, and so: it is. Brilliant talent.
Yes it’s funny, the new romantic style dance pose and suit.. I love it.. Later it was all about the music, ( which is most important) But I must admit I do like the clean cut style ..
My favourite band of all time. Mark was a genius songwriter. RIP Mark.. certainly overlooked for live aid...as each single came out I thought they can't keep up the high standard.. then they released living in another world.. another amazing one.. best band of them all.
Still can't believe he's gone 😢 words are getting deeper every time I listen to them now the days are getting shorter and we say goodbye to the year Mark left us. It burns, it really burns. 💔 RIP
This is great earlier footage of Talk Talk! Back in the early eighties when The Future held so much promise and I had so much hope. All gone now like the Wind!
The late, great Merv Griffin was pretty hip for a guy from the older generation. I remember watch his Talk Show as a kid every afternoon. And he had Devo and Softcell and Donna Summer! He had plenty of good musical guests from Britain and America at the time. I really enjoyed that about him. He gave a lot of British bands their first TV appearance in America. God Rest his Soul! I miss his show and his good sense of humor! He was a great conversationalist and had a wonderful sense of humor! I remember he always kept everything pleasant and light hearted and upbeat! I wish life was really like that but on his show it was! Thanks Merv! You are missed! 👏🏻😎 RIP 💐 The Same goes for Dinah Shore and her Show on Daytime TV! She was a wonderful lady and very sweet! I loved her show too! She even had Bowie on it and interviewed him too! She also had an open mind about music and welcomed pop musicians back then on the show. RIP Dinah 💐
One of my favourite songs from them, " all you do to me is talk, talk... bla,bla.... I love this song, great band, great musician Mark Hollis, rest in peace.
I remember back in my school days listening to Talk Talk and my friends did not get it then when It's my life song hit the air waves those friends were like"oh ok,we get it" and i was thinkin...yeah whatever..lol !!!
I began to appreciate TALK TALK very late with their "Colours of spring"-Album. In 1991, "Laughing stock" blew me away. What a fantastic final album. They stopped at their peak. One of the best bands (Japan, Joy Division are some other names...). I feel really sad, for days now......
gone at 64 too young.... let us a place.... hope to meet you singing between clouds for our pleasure.... show must go on....on the other side RIP bro ✌❤👏👏👏
One of the best and extraordinary bands of the 80s ❤❤ Sadly I was born in the 80s Never had the chance to see or hear Mark Hollis Beautiful soul and beautiful Voice 😢 Lee Harris is one of the best and extraordinary and talented drummers around ❤❤ Hes very gifted and amazing and beautiful man 🥰🤗
Wow!! 😌👍🏻

I'm experiencing the same right now... have to hear him every day again?! Mark had a distinctive, wonderful voice.
So underrated as a band and as a vocalist!

Well said.
Concordo pienamente. Geniali. 👍👍👍
i am still trying to take it all in, 64 was too young, i admired everything about the man, his ethics, his humour, his voice and music, a very speceal person
Elsie Eaglestone couldn’t have put it better what a human he was xx
64 isn’t so young. He had a good run.

U nailed it. Definitely the best there was and still is!!!!
I loved him from this song and it only got better. I couldn't fathom why he quit but I hope he lived a very happy life....shocked still that he's gone...
I'd give the band some credit as well.

The future was unwritten then..... Now look what we've got...Rock the Heavens, Mark..✝
Mark Hollis, the man, the legend. One true artist, will be forever loved and missed.
Wonderful early footage of one of the best bands ever, period.
Indeed!
Thanks alot Man now I feel Old but I would not have given up my 80s for the music of today
What a passionate drummer
No he's over the top
Marks vocal and lyrical genuis touched a world wide audience for a reason ,he was an absolute legend ,the world saw it and he was taken too soon ,God bless ,wow that band were something eh !! ❤❤
When Bands were Bands ! The 80s! RIP!
They had their hit with this and then did it their way. Mark Hollis was a true trailblazer. RIP 🎸 on in Heaven ! 🎶

Suono attualissimo. Una delle più grandi band di sempre. Li adoro.
He died too young.I remember this song was being played on the radio all the time.
Drummer is awesome
My favourite band of all time. Mark was a genius songwriter. RIP Mark.. certainly overlooked for live aid...as each single came out I thought they can't keep up the high standard.. then they released living in another world.. another amazing one.. best band of them all.
That drummer, though! ❤️
Drummers a class act
Greatest Songwriter of our generation.
Such a great and overlooked band
We shared a birthday, and I was so sad to hear of his passing. Talk Talk songs have a complexity often overlooked. RIP, Mr. Hollis.
Still can't believe he's gone 😢 words are getting deeper every time I listen to them now the days are getting shorter and we say goodbye to the year Mark left us. It burns, it really burns. 💔 RIP

Rest in peace, Mark Hollis
What a amazing band so underrated
R.I.P., Mark Hollis.
If you can imagine this music came up for 40 years ago... what a lift for the whole music brunch.
The confluence of Talk Talk and The Merv Griffin Show explains a few things about my time growing up. That those two overlap is bizarre and wonderful.
Less wonderful and more bizarre. An American manager would not have wasted their time on this show. Average age probably 70.
Merv also had Devo, Soft Cell, Oingo Boingo, and Josie Cotton appear on his show. He had a lot of musical styles on his show....
It was wonderful
First place I ever saw Soft Cell was on the Merv Griffin Show. The footage is on youtube somewhere. Strange to see after all these years.
If you think that's bizarre, look up Wire performing "Drill" on the Tonight Show with Suzanne Summers! ;-)
One of my favourite songs from them, " all you do to me is talk, talk... bla,bla.... I love this song, great band, great musician Mark Hollis, rest in peace.
RIP Mark. Wonderful and unique vocals
Top group I like the drums in the song❤
RIP Mark Hollis. Sadly missed. Great music 80s gold.
I remember back in my school days listening to Talk Talk and my friends did not get it then when
It's my life song hit the air waves those friends were like"oh ok,we get it" and i was thinkin...yeah whatever..lol !!!
maravillosa canción!!😃👏👏👏👏👏👏
Gracias Mark Hollis por tu arte🌹💐🌺🌻🤓🎵🎶♩🇦🇷
Loving the 80s sound in 2021. The OB-Xa synth adds so much character to the song
One of the most note perfect live bands I've ever seen!
This was a lip sync to the studio recording, although I'm sure that miming the performance wasn't the band's choice.
My favourite band of all time !!! In Memory
Its a stunning song. I loved this when I was a pre teen!
I remember I bought this album because of this song and Mark's voice. Lee Harris on Drums is the BEST! Love to watch him!
They were totally committed to that 'performance'
Great song and band

80s brought back. They no longer make them like they used to!!!!
Semplice brano che lascia il segno. Band originale e affascinante.
Começou bem jovem a sua trajetória musical, gênio e voz maravilhosa 😍😍
Love that Bass bounce.Typical 80s New Wave posture.

So talented
I saw them at the meridian studios in gillingham kent 1982 , for a tv show
brilliant. mark hollis was a star !
I was 10yo and loved everything I could fond about Brit pop and new wave
Wonderful And Missed
It has been 3 years and I can still not accept he’s gone. I mourn him the way I mourn Alan Wilder leaving DM. Everything and everybody I love dies.
Come mai spuntano adesso questi video mai visti???
Mark hollis ti amerò per sempre
The 80's. When the music was fun & totally awesome. Unlike the trash that exists today in 2023.
