He'd probably find a way to win with his jank if he wasn't on the verge of a heart attack the entire duel, that had to have been a major distraction.
I once played against someone with a vanilla Exodia Deck and he won in his first turn. He had Exodia, heart of the Underdog and reload. The rest was random normal cards. I think its s realy Cool combo!

To be honest, Grandpa's deck is far better than Kaiba's. There's a consistent strategy (which you never really used till the end), which is getting the 4 normal pieces of Exodia in the grave and adding then back with backup soldier, while Kaiba only summons monsters with high ATK. I bet Grandpa would win 9/10 of the games

Nah let's be real Kaiba's deck is objectively better. It's not just plot armor. If anything it's yugi who has plot armor against Kaiba. Case in point: blue-eyes magically self-destructing when he was losing and the absurd magical arrow shenanigans in the third duel. Even the battle city duel he only won because of lol-friendship plot twists. Yugi would actually lose every single game he's ever played against Kaiba if he wasn't literally the main character.

It's not really "Kaiba's BS rules". It's Pegasus' ruleset. In universe, Kaiba start by playing using Pegasus' ruleset (in particular it's the ruleset used for Pegasus' tournament on the island), but then he creates his own ruleset for his "Battle city" tournament where you now need to tribute monsters. IRL, the story about Kaiba adding the tribute rules was published roughly at the same time as the tribute rules were added to the IRL ruleset.

My only issue with this is that that wasn’t Solomon’s deck. Canonically, Solomon’s deck was the exact same one Yugi used in Duelist Kingdom, just with the addition of Exodia and possibly Time Wizard.

The manga actually shows us the duel and explains why grandpa lost. Grandpa didn't know that Kaiba had 3 blue eyes, so he figured that he would automatically win if he drew his own blue eyes. If grandpa knew ahead of time, he might have come up with a better strategy.

The manga actually shows us the duel and explains why grandpa lost. Grandpa didn't know that Kaiba had 3 blue eyes, so he figured that he would automatically win if he drew his own blue eyes. If grandpa knew ahead of time, he might have come up with a better strategy.

Lol those cards in briefcase were actually good af! Remember Yugi's deck? Bunch of weak vanillas and in that briefcase you have some really good vanillas and even fusions.With that briefcase you can make a really good deck and easily defeat mkst of the duelist kingdom competitors! You would probably lose to Kaiba and Pegasus,also against Yugi if he cheats but other than that you will most likely be the best on the island.Grandpa should've sold that card for bunch of many and even sold Yugi and his puzzle....
