    I really wish that I had learned the Marseille before any other deck.

      Same here. I was intimidated by the pips, but they’re not nearly as opaque as I thought

    Hi, Tom! I received Tarot on Earth a few days ago and I'm so happy to have found it. It and your videos are very exciting because they address how I learn. Not sure that makes sense. Tackling the numerology is really helping me learn in a more meaningful way. In the book, your suggestion to gather up several numerology theories and use them to "distill" what makes sense to me is just genius. Anyway, I'm very encouraged on my learning quest. Thanks, to you.

    I love how you mention not to be able to unlearn/unsee RW meanings but to see numerology as an additional layer to the meaning of the cards. I am about to receive my first TdM deck, The CBD deck, after having read RW decks for more than 20 years. I am excited and also glad to have your pdfs to assist me on this be journey

    Thank you so much for this. Sometimes I can't forget RWS interpretations when I read Marseille but I know on one occasion I know it was bang on the money (7 swords = illegal activity). Thank you for this great resource too - very helpful! ❤

    I so agree with you Regarding Jodorowsky book, it was so slow for me to read because he goes into too much details with symbols and theories, some I don't really relate to, maybe my logical mind is different ! I think the book is a great source for Marseille, He has his own vision based on his long experience with Tarot. He is an amazing source of Inspiration. Yet like with all Marseille tarot books, each author has a different vision and meanings associated with the pips and numerology, which is so confusing for beginners to learn how to read with Marseille. I am a RW reader.

    Having just received your book today, I enjoyed this exercise and the one that followed. Great stuff! It seems that we both become intrigued by the TdM in similar fashion. I can see that we have read many of the same books related to the TdM and I am glad to see that new books for this tradition are forthcoming. I feel like this ides for this spreadsheet would also be valuable for the Marseilles colors. Different authors have different views and it is worthwhile to have a grasp of that...as well as your own views.
    Thanks for another enjoyable video

      Colors -- absolutely!! I'm sort of a visual weirdo, I tend not to notice the colors much. But there are totally traditions where they're key, and that would be a great way to work with them!

    I am trying to learn numerology using pip decks but struggle with the meaning if two when it refer to duality what does this refer to can you give an example of the meaning please

    • @thefoolsjournal
      @thefoolsjournal  5 років тому +2

      "Duality" isn't a great word, really, so I've started to think of it more as "attraction and repulsion." A lot like a magnet. So there are times when the two attracts or pulls toward something and there are times when it pushes away from something, just like the polar ends of magnets, if that makes sense. And sometimes it's really just about choosing between two things. Does that help?

    can you say that ... all of the tarot decks nowadays, are based on the marseilles? or.. i guess if they have the images with the pips, then we have to say that it is based on rider waite.... i mean, i know there were decks before marseillles... the history is amazing; where do learn more?! this is a great video🎉

    I really appreciate your transparency and candor of your thoughts about intentional vs. unintentional symbolism in the TdM. I agree it can be frustrating to hear about, and read, the minutia of the supposed meaning in the images, such as a sword hilt that isn't quite symmetrical or a crown that sits just slightly left on a head. It makes me laugh and shake my head. Then again, perhaps it is our noticing of these things that creates the meaning?

    • @thefoolsjournal
      @thefoolsjournal  7 років тому +5

      I do think our noticing makes the meaning. To me, that’s the cool thing. That makes it more interesting than needing to find some evidence that that crooked sword is a symbol of Hermes’ journey to the underworld, or something... 😊

    The numerology of the Aces to tens is based on the ten sefirot of the tree of life. Every small card two to ten represents one decan of the zodiac. The 2's 3's and 4's are the cardinal signs; the 5's 6's and 7's are the fixed signs and the 8's 9's and 10's are the mutable signs. Wands, Cups, Swords and Disks (Pentacles) correspond to the four elements of fire, water, air and earth respectively.

    This is my year to learn the Marseille....I'm not a real lover of the older decks...the art really does nothing for me.. I enjoy the Italian decks..the Neoclassical or Soprafino are beautiful. I found a Japanese deck the ISIS version that I really like!

    • @thefoolsjournal
      @thefoolsjournal  8 років тому

      The Neoclassical and Soprafino are GORGE -- but the Marseille itself is growing on me. I have the Neoclassical, I found it on eBay... I nearly bought the Soprafino this week, and talked myself out of it, since I don't know how far I'll make myself go into this world....
