Correct way 1.Get rock 2.Prep rock for smashing 3.Use rock to smash lobster shell 4.Remove shards from shell 5.Eat 6.Put it back together 7.Complain to manager 8.Profit 9.Redo all steps until satisfied
I have been eating lobsters since I was five and have always been surprised at how few know about the pockets of lobster meat in the body so I am glad this guy knows about it. Forme, the tail is the best part but the tomalley is the second-best part. I really should try this year to switch from boiling mine to steaming them.
Surprises me how many people think lobster tastes awful. Like really? It's honestly delicious to me and I enjoy the very few times over the summer I get to have it here in New England
Bro. People typically don't know how to crack, open, or clean a Lobster. People are amazed when they see me in a restaurant. People often question me... *"That's amazing! How do you do that?"* It's a delicacy. Respect it. "Time and effort is the reward of enjoyment!"* **TRUTH!**
It's amazing how I take for granted the art of eating a lobster. Born and bred along the Down East coast of Maine, I certainly learned at a young age, how to get into "dem lobstahs" ( along with the steamed clams and the sweet shrimp).
This video actually helped me so much! Went to a lobster cafe with my friends who'd never eaten lobster. I was able to help them out a lot! It was so lovely
YES YES YES taking the tail apart THE RIGHT WAY FINALLY !!! You should Have mentioned The difference between Male and females ( for those who Like the Row) and how to Identify them without even looking at them... (touch)
This guy seems like an awesome chef. Thanks for the cool lesson on lobster crackin! Didn't know there was actually THAT much meat on a lobster my whole life. To think how much lobster meat I've wasted at restaurants lol... Not anymore!
You wanna talk torture? There's a youtube video of how to eat alaskan king crab legs and one of the legs had MASSIVE meat! Looks sooooo good and I was dying to have that! There I was, watching it and not able to eat it while she sits there and eats it for us to watch. OMG that was torture! lol
Dear friend, you have helped me in more ways than seven. Been dining on the flesh of lobster for 3 valentines days in a row and never before has a youtube video been more inspiring and helpful. soo getting laid tonight, may you live to be a thousand years old good sir.
Lobster weren't always considered a delicacy. It was once dirt cheap food for the poor. Dirt-cheap because they were so copious, lobsters were routinely fed to prisoners, apprentices, slaves and children during the colonial era and beyond. In Massachusetts, some servants allegedly sought to avoid lobster-heavy diets by including stipulations in their contracts that they would only be served the shellfish twice a week.
OMG! I didn't think I would ever hear from a sane vegan! Thank you for making my day. If we were not created, or evolved (you choose) to eat meat, it would not appeal to us. I don't see too many horses, cattle, sheep, etc..., eating meat. In fact, they refuse it...🤔
LOL the end made me laugh hahahaha "You follow the steps, and you understand it's a process of breaking it down into smaller parts. Oh and also don't forget to eat it!"
Im watching this bc I looove crab but have never really had lobster, I tried a piece and it was a bit like crab claw (which I am not a big fan of) so I never tried it again. Now that I'm starting to overcome the texture of a crab claw, I want to give lobster another try. I wish I could watch you do a crab. I know how to already, but this video was so awesome I could watch a whole series.
i do always watch this kind of videos about sea food at late night.. i just love to see them i don't know why.. i also love to eat them.. i just wanted to share this :)
I watched some Gordon Ramsay vids hoping to see how to extract the meat from the body, but no luck (even though he claims to show how to extract "every ounce" of meat) - this vid had exactly what I was looking for, right around the 6 minute mark - thanks!
This guy really knows how to section and eat a lobster. I typically start with the crawly legs and finish with the body meat, but at least this guy didn't waste anything.
I'm too lazy to read all the comments but...FUN FACT : Some lobsters are left handed and, some are right handed AND....@ Capecast, your lobster looks a little dry. Each time I eat one, it is full of " juice ".
Basty Elwood Cobain my point exactly, so no need to call it good meat lol. its like every part has the same wow factor of being labelled good meat on it lol.
Ich habe heute meinen Ersten Hummer verspeist. Worum handelt es sich hier im Video bei 5:31? Im Körper vorn ist eine Grüne und Rote Maße. Was genau ist das?
I'm going burger and lobster tomorrow i think this has helped me now lol i would've been lost and looking like a right fool attempting to eat a lobster Thanks!!
We get puny lobsters with softer shells down South, but they're better than nothing. I've been eating steamed/boiled Maine lobsters all my life and am crazy for them. I put the claws with arms attached and the tail aside and break open the body getting that meat and eat the meat from the legs and tailfins first. Then, I clean the meat out of the claws and tail and the claw arms. I cut the tail meat into chunks and open the claws, putting all of that into the lobster juice to sit. I then savor it all, dipped into melted butter and am in heaven. I'm older and my hands are not strong, so I use scissors to help me disarticulate the parts of the lobsters. Works for me. Now I am hungry for lobster. I don't season the lobster at all, just dip it in melted butter. The salt in the butter doesn't make it too salty and flavors the meat beautifully. Oh, my goodness!
I was talking about tomalley: Tomalley (from the Carib word tumale, meaning a sauce of lobster liver), crab fat, or lobster paste is the soft, green substance found in the body cavity of lobsters, that fulfills the functions of both the liver and the pancreas. Tomalley corresponds to the hepatopancreas in other arthropods
I've noticed that no matter what animal it is, the parts that people usually skip over are always "the best part". I think it's a mental thing. You could literally eat all of the meat off of an animal and someone would be like "but the heart is the best part of the animal"
I bought a lobster for 200 Danish Kroner, 1 gram of saffron for 50 danish kroner and a jar of mayonnaise for 25 danish kroner. cooked the lobster chopped the meat in small pieces. saved the tamale as a topping, and mixed the meat with mayonnaise and saffron. then i put in on ryebread and put the tamale topping on it and IT WAS AMAZING
I lived in Rockland Maine for several years. It is named the lobster capitol of the world. I worked at a lobster pound for a stint. I could buy lobsters for $2.99 a pound seven years ago. Trust me, you can get tired of eating them.
This chef sounds truly passionate about his lobster. I hope he's doing well.
Correct way

The lobster looked so good and tasty I watched the video twice :)
You get a gold sticky star for not using the word "wicked" once in this video.
I’ve never eaten lobster but seeing all these videos with people eating it, I really want to try it.
I agree with the chef on the breakdown of the lobster. Nothing wasted.
That buttery/fatty stuff in the lobster's head is the BEST part.
I just drooled on my self when he cracked that claw! Holly shit!

I'm having some lobster at home tomorrow. I'm going to use this technique!!
am i mistaken or did he call meat from every part some of the best meat? LOL
finally someone noticed that lmao i also like the "when the lobsters the great its great" "yea right"
Basty Elwood Cobain my point exactly, so no need to call it good meat lol. its like every part has the same wow factor of being labelled good meat on it lol.
That's because the best meat, is the meat on your tongue!
He only said it twice
Y'all can't count?
Thanks, I hate to say, I've wasted so much expensive lobster. Great tutorial.

I was talking about tomalley:

His method is so brutal. The tip of the tail and the claw didn't even come off with the main part.
OK but what about the entrails and everything, how do you get that out

On that note, for some reason I trust and believe him when he says it.
Each portion is "some of the best meat" for this guy! LOL
He was telling the truth cuz there's no bad meat on a lobster :)
