My dad’s 686 wasn’t cocking into single action and the whole gun kept locking up. Following your video, I cleaned and oiled all its internals and it’s working like new again. Thanks!
MJ - because of your brilliant disassembly and reassembly videos of the GP100 i was able to confidently and successfully learn everything about the workings of my GP - thank you....NOW, i just purchased a S&W 686 so im back and already benefiting from your S&W videos too - you make gun owners BETTER gun owners by sharing your knowledge with all of us - the entire gun community owes you a debt of gratitude, so, once again, THANK YOU, by far the best videos out there
Thanks very much for your excellent video!! Your meticulous instruction and occasional tips eliminated my fear of disassembling and reassembling my Smith & Wesson 626 .357 Magnum and Smith & Wesson 629 .44 Magnum Revolvers. They do need a thorough cleaning every 500-1,000 rounds. Thanks again!!
The new model 69 in 44mag has the same insides. That little stirrup on the trigger that the mainspring hooks up to is a bugger, but this video showed it clearly. Great video Mike
Fascinating. I will make my son watch as well. A firearm owner is responsible for knowing their firearm, and while they may never get this far into it physically, need to understand it.
They should get into it this far, especially with a carry gun. Carry guns and heavily used guns get a lot of gunk inside that can not only affect the performance and reliability of the firearm, but can cause internal damage in severe cases. A good internal cleaning and light oiling every year is highly recommended for carry guns, and even brand new guns after the trigger is broken in to remove metal dust and shavings left over from production.
Thank you. Fantastic video on the Newist internals. Especially the stirrup connected to the hammer the new way the old way the stirrup was pinned to the hammer. Just an excellent job of showing the proper disassembly of the newest internal set ups. Again thank you very much
Thanks for this excellent video. The quality of your photography and the sharpness of the images are unmatched. I found this and your reassembly video extremely valuable. Thanks!
I qualified as a Smith Armourer back in the 90s and then the bloody UK Government banned all hand guns with barrels less than 16 inches, sad day that was for many shooters and dealers alike.
thank God this video exists..... I won't explain any further than that because you can figure out the rest. I'll just put my screwdriver set away and call it a night. now I know (and knowing is half the battle)
I would like to have seen you take the lock out. I recently bought a plug for the hole for after the lock is removed. But still good job on the video I appreciate it. Also I like the non- fluted cylinder, my 686 has the non fluted as well, I've also got Dawson fiber optic front sight and Bowen rough country rear sight.
MJ thanks for the disassembly tour.I've seen some articles and videos on that 'internal lock' having failures.I am considering having that internal lock removed. Cheers
My cylinder stop is no longer working, as the cylinder can be spun freely, will a replacement spring and stop fix this? Could that be the only culprit? Or is there something else that could be causing this?
its the arm that connects to the trigger which is spring loaded,,tiny spring...that's the problem im having, getting the arm reattached with the new spring

I wish you could tell me how that little spring goes against the arm inside the trigger because I can’t figure it out

I think the spring is the problem
Very good! Thanks
👍
Thank you. Can the firing pin be replaced without removing hammer?
Yes no problems, cock the hammer back and remove the firing pin.
Excellent video. Thank you Sir
Thanks, you're welcome
I've a ton of these videos looking for one that does "pinned barrel" replacements, anybody got any info?
