Hey, I have a theory on how to get over VR sickness. You mentioned not feeling sick during pistol whip, and that made me think. I used to get pretty bad VR sickness, but kept trying to get over it to play Boneworks (great game, btw), but nothing really worked. In one of the levels, there's a train cart you can control, but it doesn't go far. It immediately slams into a wall, and I found it funny I kept almost stumbling in real life although I knew it there was no actual danger. So I kept playing around with it and being mindful of how I was just standing in a room watching a game, until I no longer stumbled. After this moment, I've had next to zero VR sickness. So if you're willing to put up with crippling VR nausea that goes on for hours for science, you'd make an amazing test subject. They're kinda hard to find.
Also if you find it dull at all, then it’s a good idea to try and build some dancing into the routine! Or if you’re more concerned about cardio, then running on the spot or doing squats really help!
Personally I've a decent amount of gripes: * Instead of going on sale after years of being out, it has gone up in price. * On top of that, it has 609$ worth of DLC. *You have to pay for it separately on both Quest and PCVR, when the Quest version is obviously inferior. I can't support this sort of grift, even with a dedicated modding community.
@@GeekyGami calling beat saber a grift is absolutely fucking wild my guy. It has not gone up in price since it came out, it was $20 in 2018 when it was in early access, when the game was fully released (in 2019, ONE year later) it got raised to $30, something TONS of early access games do because they don't want to charge full price for something that isn't finished yet. The DLC are songs that they had to buy the rights to to make levels, that shit is EXPENSIVE, and you act like LITERALLY ALL of those songs aren't available with community maps with mods for FREE. All of that DLC is just $2 optional levels. I'm not super familiar with quest, but isn't it the case with all games that when you buy them in the quest store you don't also get them in steam?
The actual cool thing about cardio is that if your heart rate is above like 110 for a couple minutes you’re actively burning calories and providing cardiovascular exercise no matter the action
Coincidentally I looked this up earlier because I was worried 110 wouldn’t be enough to get anything out of it. Apparently you’re getting a workout as long as you’re hitting 50-85% of your maximum heart rate, which is calculated as 220 minus how old you are! Was very reassuring, because I can’t last long at all with higher intensities, and you end up swearing up a storm.
@@Evanz111 "50-85% of your maximum heart rate, which is calculated as 220 minus how old you are" My brain can't make head or tails of this statement. Can you rephrase or link to your source?
@@cruztastropheYour maximum heart rate is calculated as 220 minus your age, and you’re getting a workout as long as your heart rate is in the range of 50 to 85% of that number you calculated.
@@cruztastrophe I don't know if what they said is true but what they mean is basically if you're 35 then your max heart rate would be 185 bpm and you want to hit somewhere between 93 bpm and 157 bpm.
I can't wait for multi-directional walking pads to be good (and affordable) so VR can be used for better entertaining home exercise! Imagine running around in VR Breath Of The Wild while running IRL???
You can get a katwalk C slidemill for 1000$, I've tried one and its awesome. The price is amazing compared to the rest of the market. And its compatible with all VR games! so you could do a marathon through all of skyrim VR
Despite the added price of the Katwalk C2, I wouldn't recommend the original knowing it's limitations. I'd personally prefer not being locked to just going forward if I'm walking around in VR for hours.
@@Phantomdude I think VR treadmill needs to be compact or collapsible in order to hit mainstream. I'd pay more than $1k if I can fold it up and put it under my bed or up against the wall.
Scott, some people look cool AF on beat saber. I am not one of them, but I've seen them. They basically turn it into an actual dance with the breaking blocks as part of the choreography.
My dad used to do Tai chi with a group of coworkers after work a couple times a week. He said he was drenched and out of breath by the end, for it being all incredibly slow movements. You playing Superhot looked really similar 😂
Scott, PLEASE play Tetris Effect on the VR. Don't even look up footage, and play with the audio on too. It's a uniquely wonderful gaming experience to go through blind.
Scott, get a silcone cover for your headset if you haven't already. Should help prevent getting a rash. IIRC there was a recall or something about the Quest 2 causing skin irritation.
Two hours ago i was thinking "you know, i wonder when Scott is gonna upload another video" Now ive checked my phone and theres a scott cramer video in my feed. Is this the level of power scott felt when he got Disney to get the disney channel games back on Disney+??? I wonder....
Thrill of the Fight is the best game for a workout on VR! It helped me lose over 50 pounds post covid and got me back into do some sort of physical shape everyday. 100% recommend!
Best fitness game for VR by a mile. It left me with aching muscles the first time and was pretty much the only thing I did on the Quest for months until I could beat all enemies on all difficulties. Can't wait for the coming sequel.
Oh damn, massive kudos to you for that! I’ve been trying to get healthier and lose weight, but I ended up playing Creed: Rise to Glory instead. It definitely gets my heart rate up but feels a bit awkward, so maybe I should give that one a shot instead!
Give Beat Saber a chance, the beginner levels can be boring but once you hit the right difficulty for you, its an intense workout and a ton of fun. It also has multiplayer, and competing with friends or random people can be very motivating. Just make sure you actually dance. Some like to min-max and mainly use their wrist.
@@senaeuI’ll say, the original 1st ost tracks kinda sucked, but as they’ve updated it the newer tracks, and especially the dlc, are really where the fun comes in So if all he ever played were those first ones years ago, then it could be worth another shot

VR motion sickness tip: check the settings on your games! A big issue is peripheral vision, so a lot of games will include a setting to black out your peripheral vision while you’re moving. It’s a major game changer
You’re the first person I’ve heard who’s played beat saber and not liked it. I haven’t played it and now I feel better about not having done it. So, thanks Scott!
@@snuggs930 Honestly, that’s so cool that your dad plays beat saber. I wanna try it but don’t have a VR headset and most of my friends aren’t big gamers.

I genuinely don't understand how anyone can dislike Beatsabre, I get not loving it but it feels too simple a concept to dislike. Just music and light sabres.
As a VR veteran now (3+ years) I'd say that a lot of the motion sickness goes away with time -- but you need to go slow and just go with the flow. Also -- you're totally right about framerate! If something dips below a certain framerate in VR, you'll naturally feel queasy. Loved the vid!
Hey, one of the best accessories I could recommend for vr is a controller grip they make your hands feel way more comfortable and it feels more imersive for grabbing things since you can fully let go of the controller
I do feel like I need to stand up for Supernatural. As someone with a chronic pain disorder and an inability to find a workout routine that I've been able to stick to and that actually helps my pain instead of worsen it, it the only thing that has been effective. And part of that is having coaches reminding me to stretch and breathe through the whole thing.
wether your doing vr workouts, lifting weights, swingin kettlebells, doing yoga, running, biking, boxing, martial arts, walking whatever we're all going to commit to ourselves and stay active and healthy for our futures!!!!!
If you like action and are already used to some violence in videogames, Blade and Sorcery is pretty damn good. It even has settings for more or less realism in its combat simulations, depending on your comfort level
I was actually just trying to think of ways I can get more active after I get off work, and also try to revisit one of my old hobbies. I am glad I saw this video, definitely gave me some ideas for new games I can try on my VR.
Pistol Whip and Beat Saber are a couple of my favorites! That being said, I've only ever used VR once for a few hours, so i don't have much of a leg to stand on! Great video!!
Scott Cramer, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, Little Big Planet was my favorite game growing up and hearing you reference it was like a jolt to the brain!! Please make a video about your levels/experience playing it!!!
12:32 can indeed confirm that the climb really starts to work your arms after you do a few levels! keeping your arms above your head like that for so long gets super tiring lol
As far as I'm concerned, Pistol Whip is not only one of the most fun VR games ever, but expert kicks the hell out of me. Best workout in VR, absolutely. So happy you tried and liked it because I was going to come here and recommend it if you didn't.
If you try more, Holopoint is one I used to super vibe with! Archery based gameplay but the targets shoot back at you after you hit them, so it's a lot of movement via dodging and turning. Bonus, you're in one spot so you don't get too queasy!
Thrill of the fight is an amazing VR game. It's a great workout and really fun. Only complaint is not enough opponents. There's only a handful of boxers to fight
not a VR game but my go to is ring fit adventure on the switch for working out. its like a turn based rpg where you fight by doing exercises. its surprisingly alot of fun and effective at pushing me to work out. you should check it out!
Yes!!! This was one of my gateways into gaming fitness. I had a Mandela effect memory of Scott making a video on it before but I don’t think he has. Such a great level of variety and cardio + resistance training with the ring!
Was watching excpecting rumble any second! (Earthbending+fighting other people) Surprised it didn’t come up-please do a sequel and play rumble! It’s a game that will 100% give you a workout no questions asked.
Pro tip: Stand on a small round rug so you always know where you are in the room. I am so thrilled to see you finally try real VR! If you get a chance to try the Quest 3 headset I highly recommend it. Also try hooking your headset up to your computer for more VR games with even better graphics. Phasmophobia in VR is one of the scariest things I have done in my whole life and I highly recommend it!!
Pistol whip is by far my favorite VR game. Especially within its genre of “active rhythm?” It is the absolute best and only VR game I actually actively grinded. That game had a choke hold on me and I’m so happy you got to experience that game also! It’s just so dadgum good.
As someone who gets motion sick from even playing games in third person out of vr, if you ever get a chance u should try beatsaber (ik ik everyone says that) but it was literally the only vr game that didnt make me sick
Ok, strugglers, we’re lacking-struggling, if I may. It’s shameful, quite frankly, that Scott’s not at a million subscribers already. After all the work he’s put it? New viewers of the channel, first of all subscribe already, but if this video somehow hasn’t convinced you to subscribe check out some of Scott’s best videos. (In my opinion) - The Reality Show for Superheroes - The Whodunnit Series - I Can’t Believe PBS Kids Aired This Episode Seriously tho, I can’t count how many times I’ve laughed until my stomach hurt watching this channel. I’ve been watching since 2021 and he’s never failed to put a smile on my face. You’re doing more for yourself than him by subscribing.
I for some reason haven’t been seeing your uploads on my feed which is upsetting because I love your content and your sense of humor! Congrats on fatherhood I had no idea you had children
Gorilla tag probably wouldn't have made you feel sick. Since all of the movement is controlled with your hands and arms, it's basically like The Climb except horizontal and vertical.
As a certified Beatsaber lover I audibly gasped when you said Beatsaber was boring :O my feelings are hurt, Scott. They’re hurt 😔 For me Beatsaber got infinitely more fun the more difficult I was able to play the levels. And when I deliberately put my whole body into playing it’s even more fun. I don’t like to do the minimum for that game. I do the most and I often break out into a sweat and play for about an hour each time.
For real 😢 you can’t help what you don’t like, but I hope he gave it a full chance! The flow state once you get into harder difficulties is unrivalled! Beating Camellia songs on Expert+ for the first time was such a rush.
id reccomend master bladesmith or ancient dungeon for just general vr game enjoyment. though ancient dungeon is a pretty difficult roguelike, and master bladesmith is about 70% as complicated as real life blacksmithing
For exercise games this is where the open facial interface meta made for the quest 3 comes clutch. That interface has the sides open so you can see the edges and it gives you more of a mixed reality experience and you do not get motion sickness.
Pistol Whip is legitimately my favorite video game ever. I have played it for probably hundreds of hours, I'm top 10 on damn near every leader board, D-I-L-F, come at me nerds
A lot of people are saying how they get too motion sick to play, but you just have to choose the right games, you need a good light one to start out. That’s why I recommend to anyone new or who gets motion sick to play Bonelab
“Playing Beat Saber Until I No Longer Hate It” video for the second channel incoming hahaha, YOU’VE CONVINCED ME!!!

Hello notch! ❤
Which headset do you use?
Interesting. I am lucky not to have VR nausea but that is a fascinating observation. I hope more people can persist and overcome it.

Did not expect the beat saber hate! Beat saber is my favorite VR game. It helps when you add songs you like!
Yes!
Also if you find it dull at all, then it’s a good idea to try and build some dancing into the routine! Or if you’re more concerned about cardio, then running on the spot or doing squats really help!
Personally I've a decent amount of gripes:
* Instead of going on sale after years of being out, it has gone up in price.
* On top of that, it has 609$ worth of DLC.
*You have to pay for it separately on both Quest and PCVR, when the Quest version is obviously inferior.
I can't support this sort of grift, even with a dedicated modding community.
"You're all rigid. You're like a bread stick."
Personally, I loved beat saber.
We know this is all in preparation for the upcoming Cramer Games
Currently watching this while eating a family size bag of jalapeno chips.
As you should
At least it's not half of a little Caesars pizza....😅
I have a bag of mini Butterfingers next to me at this very moment
The actual cool thing about cardio is that if your heart rate is above like 110 for a couple minutes you’re actively burning calories and providing cardiovascular exercise no matter the action
Coincidentally I looked this up earlier because I was worried 110 wouldn’t be enough to get anything out of it.
Apparently you’re getting a workout as long as you’re hitting 50-85% of your maximum heart rate, which is calculated as 220 minus how old you are!
Was very reassuring, because I can’t last long at all with higher intensities, and you end up swearing up a storm.
@@Evanz111 "50-85% of your maximum heart rate, which is calculated as 220 minus how old you are"
My brain can't make head or tails of this statement. Can you rephrase or link to your source?
@@cruztastropheYour maximum heart rate is calculated as 220 minus your age, and you’re getting a workout as long as your heart rate is in the range of 50 to 85% of that number you calculated.
@@debora13897 220 - age = X
Effective range is 50%-80% of X
Got it
@@cruztastrophe I don't know if what they said is true but what they mean is basically if you're 35 then your max heart rate would be 185 bpm and you want to hit somewhere between 93 bpm and 157 bpm.
I can't wait for multi-directional walking pads to be good (and affordable) so VR can be used for better entertaining home exercise! Imagine running around in VR Breath Of The Wild while running IRL???
realll ✨
I wasnt expecting the lowkey delivery of "Who do you think you are?? I am!!" At 10:45 LOL i had to rewind and listen to it again

the giant smile you had on your face after talking to your kid 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

The VR version is much more replayable I swear 😢
@@Evanz111yeah, more replayable with 99% of the story taken out
this man’s videos are the only thing i watch on the internet that consistently leave me feeling like i actually spent my time well. good job scotty
Scott, PLEASE play Tetris Effect on the VR. Don't even look up footage, and play with the audio on too. It's a uniquely wonderful gaming experience to go through blind.
Does it help with fitness? 😭

Scott, get a silcone cover for your headset if you haven't already. Should help prevent getting a rash. IIRC there was a recall or something about the Quest 2 causing skin irritation.
Two hours ago i was thinking "you know, i wonder when Scott is gonna upload another video"
Now ive checked my phone and theres a scott cramer video in my feed.
@@Evanz111 definitely try it out! The gameplay is fluid and does feel like a real scrap.
Heckkk yes
Give Beat Saber a chance, the beginner levels can be boring but once you hit the right difficulty for you, its an intense workout and a ton of fun. It also has multiplayer, and competing with friends or random people can be very motivating. Just make sure you actually dance. Some like to min-max and mainly use their wrist.
i mean i'd say he sort of gave it "a chance" already he seemed to know what he didn't like about it well enough
@@senaeu I mean, all he said was that it was "Boring", which sounds like he was just playing maps below his skill level
+1 to the dancing suggestion. It’s the only way I can enjoy songs below 5 notes-per-second anymore
@@senaeuI’ll say, the original 1st ost tracks kinda sucked, but as they’ve updated it the newer tracks, and especially the dlc, are really where the fun comes in

I got more out of the RingFit game on Switch than I would've on these. That RingFit game kicked my entire ass
You should try thrill of the figh on hard mode, i really like ring fit because it entertained me while exercise but thrill of the fight always kill me in just 30 minutes
I have that game and I can tell you there are experiences in VR that do much more for me.
I think the first one and other games like it would be better suited to walking/running/jogging on a treadmill so it keeps you in place
"Ow" - Scott most of the time
Thrill of the Fight is legit no joke. It’s a simulation boxing game that uses your stamina as the stamina. Scott isn’t joking. It will kick your butt.
This video just makes me realize that Scott needs a gaming channel
Hell yes!
My dad really liked it until he side stepped into the wall lol
@@snuggs930 Honestly, that’s so cool that your dad plays beat saber. I wanna try it but don’t have a VR headset and most of my friends aren’t big gamers.
We are so happy you are loving the plan Dylan created for you! We hope it will helps with all the VR running in place you are doing 🤣Thank you so much for sharing your fitness journey so far!
apologizing for not blam-blamming the guy in pistol whip is the most Midwestern you have ever been and I've seen all your ND based videos
Loved the vid!
that first one kind of seems like a prank on people to see how many they can get to run into/off of things.
Hey, one of the best accessories I could recommend for vr is a controller grip they make your hands feel way more comfortable and it feels more imersive for grabbing things since you can fully let go of the controller
Nothing will ever beat the minigame in Donkey Kong Jungle Beat where the goal is to hit the bongo as many times as you can
I do feel like I need to stand up for Supernatural. As someone with a chronic pain disorder and an inability to find a workout routine that I've been able to stick to and that actually helps my pain instead of worsen it, it the only thing that has been effective. And part of that is having coaches reminding me to stretch and breathe through the whole thing.
Scott, thank you for always being so Cramer

I don't think Scott understands what the main mechanic in Pistol Whip is. Bro was playing it like it's CoD.
Wait what is the main mechanic in it if not shooting people and dodging bullets?
@@Evanz111 Its a rhythm game iirc so you have to shoot on beat with the music
wether your doing vr workouts, lifting weights, swingin kettlebells, doing yoga, running, biking, boxing, martial arts, walking whatever we're all going to commit to ourselves and stay active and healthy for our futures!!!!!
All of it is progress in the right direction!
DUUUUDE! I'VE MISSED YOU! Was missing your videos last night. Good to see you!
2:16 I'm sorry... TWO KIDS?! WHEN?! HOW?! So happy for you and Jaden! 🫶
Holy crap the Thrill of the Fight section had me crying 😂
For real though, it is an incredibly good workout

As far as I'm concerned, Pistol Whip is not only one of the most fun VR games ever, but expert kicks the hell out of me. Best workout in VR, absolutely. So happy you tried and liked it because I was going to come here and recommend it if you didn't.
Pistol whip is so good. I recommend doing the campaign it has different bosses and weapons you can use
Most fun I've had in VR, and I'm dripping sweat after 10 minutes.
It destroys my knees with the circle dodges 😭
Like count was at 666, but don’t worry, I fixed it. Gotta keep up the PBS culture.
Was watching excpecting rumble any second! (Earthbending+fighting other people) Surprised it didn’t come up-please do a sequel and play rumble!
It’s a game that will 100% give you a workout no questions asked.
I saw that game mentioned once! Is it multiplayer-only? Or can you play it solo?
Earthbending?!?!? That’s sick
EVERY VR fitness game? I am sorry Scott, but considering that this video is not age-restricted, you have most certainly not played all of them :X
I traded in my Quest 2 for a 3 and it was one of the best decisions I made for my fitness. So much easier, convenient and lightweight to use!
The mashed banana Wiggles reference caught me so off guard, I laughed out loud. Dad joke of the year award goes to Scott.
People say im outta shape. I disagree. Ol' Snout's in the best shape of his life. Wouldn't you agree?
Dude! You gotta try Gorn! That ish is one hell of a workout!
Pistol whip is by far my favorite VR game. Especially within its genre of “active rhythm?” It is the absolute best and only VR game I actually actively grinded. That game had a choke hold on me and I’m so happy you got to experience that game also! It’s just so dadgum good.
I haven’t gotten a headset largely because watching other people play these games gives me motion sickness
(In my opinion)
- The Reality Show for Superheroes
- The Whodunnit Series
- I Can’t Believe PBS Kids Aired This Episode
Seriously tho, I can’t count how many times I’ve laughed until my stomach hurt watching this channel. I’ve been watching since 2021 and he’s never failed to put a smile on my face. You’re doing more for yourself than him by subscribing.
The part where you tried to look at Garrets rump and also had to beat up a lady I can't lmao
I for some reason haven’t been seeing your uploads on my feed which is upsetting because I love your content and your sense of humor! Congrats on fatherhood I had no idea you had children
Thrill of the fight is by far my favorite vr game. It definitely makes every punch feel real and it makes me absolutely not want to get hit.
Gorilla tag probably wouldn't have made you feel sick. Since all of the movement is controlled with your hands and arms, it's basically like The Climb except horizontal and vertical.
Great Video! Vader immortal games are sick I played the crap out of them!
As a certified Beatsaber lover I audibly gasped when you said Beatsaber was boring :O my feelings are hurt, Scott. They’re hurt 😔
For me Beatsaber got infinitely more fun the more difficult I was able to play the levels.
Especially at 19:48 because that is literally, 100% just Beat Saber but the blocks aren’t flying at you
Edit: and also I mean moon rider too
Pistol Whip is probably my favorite VR game though to be fair I'm only played like 6 VR games
What’s your second favourite and least favourite? :o
@@Evanz111 Second favourite has got to be beat saber and least favorite was blade & sorcery because it caused me to get so motion sick
id reccomend master bladesmith or ancient dungeon for just general vr game enjoyment. though ancient dungeon is a pretty difficult roguelike, and master bladesmith is about 70% as complicated as real life blacksmithing
I've been waiting for the day Scott's stamp of approval would return
Pistol Whip has been my #1 favourite VR game for years! Absolutely love it! Really hope the team makes more
