I'm noticing a theme here. Most of the older versions were unique and spoke to the distinct culture of their state. The newer versions look like someone sent an offensive email so now all communications have to go through HR.
It's most likely a lot more of a boring reason, The "Old logos" were most likely made before the invention of smartphones. Now, site traffic has to be evaluated through mobile browsing and you need the logos to be accessible and readable at smaller sizes. The marketing/creatives necessary for these state tourism logos had to prioritize readability at smaller scales so it limits the amount of creative assets you can realistically fit in a small space.

I've lived here my whole life. Don't move here! Its hot and humid and our main economy is space and tourism. Unless you're old or don't want to deal with snow and instead want to deal with 100 degree heat and high humidity, then don't move here. What many don't realize is that you can't wear a jacket like in the cold. You just have to suck it up and wear short sleeves. To give you a perspective on how it feels, try taking a warm shower and then put your clothes on without drying off. I don't even want to get started on overpopulation...
Scott I know you want to remain in the unknown for the Virginia logo but I feel like it adds so much to the slogan: Loving vs Virginia was the Supreme Court case where interracial marriage became legal. It’s funny as a slogan because on one hand it’s like “Virginia had the first legalized interracial marriage!!” but there’s also a constant element of “Virginia didn’t want these people to get married to much that it went to the Supreme Court” but tbh being both proud and disappointed in virginias historical accomplishments is what living in Virginia is all about.
The quality of Virginia's slogan is offset somewhat by the fact that in the second logo my mind read it at first as "Virginia is for Losers." No, the heart doesn't look like an S, but it doesn't look much like a V either. It would look MORE like a V if it were just the outline.

as a (SOUTH) Arkansan, the vibe of Arkansas varies pretty greatly throughout different areas. North west Arkansas is currently the most hoping place to be, its developing fast. and it basically feels like the midwest. Central Arkansas is notoriously dangerous. South Arkansas is a lot like the surrounding southern states, the most exciting thing going on is high school football. as you go from north to south, you get Mountains, then flat, then swampy and humid. we also have some silly ass town names hehe Bald Knob, Wiener, Goobertown. very unserious
As someone from North Eastern Arkansas your basically just like so many farm feilds.....HOW DA FREAK ARE WE IN THE WOODS AND MOUNTAINS in less than 10 minuntes lol

That old Kentucky logo was perfect in every way. So many nice touches, the use of the specific word "unbridled" tying back to horses, and to see that particular logo fall victim to modern simplification is a tragedy.
You missed the hidden message in New Hampshire! The wavey waves are a cursive “n h”!! When I visited I thought it was so cool they snuck that in there!
Im from arkansas, its very peaceful, our capital little rock or hot springs or atleast some of the exciting places are CRAZY i went to a town that had a halloween festival happening, PEOPLE WERE WEARING SOME TERRIFYING STUFF AND THE PATH TO GET THERE WAS SUPER JAGGED AND IF U HAPPENED TO FALL OFF THE THIN TRAIL UR DONE FOR, anyways theres lots of country in the small towns, super peaceful, lots of nature
SCOTT DONT READ THIS- The "Virginia is for lovers" thing came from a big sign or something that said 'Virginia is for ____ lovers" to imply that whatever you love, you can find it in VA but it just kinda looked like it said Virginia is for lovers" and that wound up sticking instead
the first idaho logo immediately went into my secede tier and i was SHOOK to see you book a flight there. if it was the shape of idaho instead of a rectangle, i may have just put it in my wont be visiting tier, but the other thing about it that just sickened me is that the 3 features of the logo (the usa map, the rectangle, and the slogan) are all skewed off center in different amounts
PA’s reminds me of ocean spray cranberries logo every time I drive by it Also the old logo has a keystone shape. A keystone is the top part of a arch which is the most crucial architectural piece of it. It’s called the keystone state because it was the place America was founded and also for its historical significance. It’s also on our highway signs. It’s such a smart symbol to use and I love its use. It’s not a vase lol

As someone whose NOT from Akransas, I will say it is absolutely an underrated state. I went in the spring, it was really pretty and my family that moved out there was able to afford a really cute house in the woods. I am from California btw, so it's vastly different from what I'm used to.
21:49 M is introducing you to their shy son A
Literally the beyonce and jay z meme
I live in Idaho and I’d recommend anyone come through at least once. We have horrible politics and horrible drivers, but man the land is stunning. Just driving from Boise to McCall is magnifique.
South Dakotas new one is literally just North Dakotas old one, and it's hilarious 😂
Except somehow not as good? Idk, its hard to explain but it feels not as well balanced somehow.
"You look like a credit union." RARE insult.
13:42 you grabbed the mug to show all lowercase, but directly in the background is the pillow with all uppercase 😂
Scott, you have such a talent to describe things and being funny while doing it...I was not 1 second bored and I'm not even from the US...
Though, I think I might be colorblind after this video.
Watching Scott run such a range of emotions looking through these is so cute. Thanks for powering through! I remember how tired I was when my kids were babies too. Also thanks for not making WA seceed twice, we're really not so bad I promise. 😂
The Pure Michigan ads have Tim Allen doing the voiceover about how great Michigan is!
I put this on while I cleaned the house, thanks for the long video to keep me company!
Maybe I'm just being selfish, but I'd love to see you do this series with Canadian provinces/territories. It'd be cool to see your takes on their flags/slogans/licenses from an outside perspective
as a (SOUTH) Arkansan, the vibe of Arkansas varies pretty greatly throughout different areas.
I feel like the first Maine one could have been infinitely better if the slogan was "It's gonna be Maine". Imagine the memes. Maybe make NSYNC tour there.
If *NSYNC came to Maine I'd stay happy forever
Why whould a boy band go to lobster country
Georgian here! yes, we love our peaches, but have you ever had a Georgia peach?? they're phenomenal. i left the state for the first time a couple years ago to visit a friend and we bought peaches to snack on. as soon as i took a bite, i was like, "oh no." i can't believe people are surviving on such nasty peaches smh
Dang, I want one so bad! I love peaches, but I don't very often get a good one. (Currently in Idaho. Wanna trade a peach for a potato lol?)
I loved your older logo!
As someone from New Mexico, it’s nice to be appreciated. Everyone forgets about us😔
That’s why we love Scott. You should definitely watch his other videos like this!
@@hopechavez1329 I have and it’s always nice to get a high ranking lol. I agree we love Scott
Marylander here! Can’t wait to meet you when you book that double flight
That old Kentucky logo was perfect in every way. So many nice touches, the use of the specific word "unbridled" tying back to horses, and to see that particular logo fall victim to modern simplification is a tragedy.
Scott, as much as I respect your opinions, as a graphic designer this was a tough watch
You missed the hidden message in New Hampshire! The wavey waves are a cursive “n h”!! When I visited I thought it was so cool they snuck that in there!
9:55 LETS GOOO
the only time i think of arkansas is whenever i remember that "america explain" vine
This man screamed "Let's Go" in lower case. I don't know how, but it was impressive...
27:38 - the wavy mountains also contain a lowercase "N H"!
Scott is the definition of a cool person imo
North Dakota John Doe looks like he just finished a DJ set after ignoring serious allegations
noooo, haha 😭😭💀
Everytime Scott makes a video, I think, "Who is this for?"
Then I watch it in its entirety. Me. That's who it's for.
Love how Arizona went from Book My Flight to Secede Immediately. Kinda how I feel after having lived there for 5 years.
You are the MVP!!!!!!!!!!!!
SCOTT DONT READ THIS-
The "Virginia is for lovers" thing came from a big sign or something that said
'Virginia is for ____ lovers" to imply that whatever you love, you can find it in VA but it just kinda looked like it said Virginia is for lovers" and that wound up sticking instead
The Pure Michigan videos do an excellent job of showing off the great places to visit in Michigan.
the first idaho logo immediately went into my secede tier and i was SHOOK to see you book a flight there. if it was the shape of idaho instead of a rectangle, i may have just put it in my wont be visiting tier, but the other thing about it that just sickened me is that the 3 features of the logo (the usa map, the rectangle, and the slogan) are all skewed off center in different amounts
15:30 That typographical element is called a Pipe, so… have fun with that 😂
you should do state fish/game/wildlife/parks logos! they’re all called something different but there’s some great ones
That’s a fun idea and fun describes Scott ALOT
PA’s reminds me of ocean spray cranberries logo every time I drive by it
Also the old logo has a keystone shape. A keystone is the top part of a arch which is the most crucial architectural piece of it. It’s called the keystone state because it was the place America was founded and also for its historical significance. It’s also on our highway signs. It’s such a smart symbol to use and I love its use. It’s not a vase lol
When I was a kid I got a CD that was put out by the Tourism Board of Texas. It had games and videos and it was the best. That's when we had the "It's like a whole other country" Great childhood memories.
@7:25 yo don’t joke xD I literally wrote a rap song called Real Eyes Realize Real Lies, I ended up titling the track just Realize but it’s hilarious you called me out like that xD !! SCOTTY NOOO
Scott. State Quarters. I beg you.
I felt that about the driver's license changing, I was unlucky enough to get my new license in the new version and Michigan used to have such an iconic design too it kills me
Georgia and NY are the most recognizable ones to me, I see them all the time, especially Georgia due to there being so many shows filmed there.
bro its at the end of every show "MaDe In GeOrGiA!!1!!!1111"
4:54 there's basically 3 different vibes: 1. Little Rock 2. Eastern AR 3. NW AR. NW is the chillest imo and exemplifies the title "the natural state" perfectly
V 40:47 Virginia welcomes you
Anyone else super surprised about their own state? I live in Mass and I swear I’ve never seen either of those designs in my life, but there’s a totally different design I consistently see all the time my entire life.
Can you do a state songs ranking video
That'd be so good
Id love to see that
Finally a good youtuber from the peace garden state! As someone from ND, I didn't expect this
