I Drove On The World's Most Unique Highway

- The Enchanted Highway is a stretch of road in western North Dakota. It's lined with custom scrap metal sculptures made by a local artist, and it leads to The Enchanted Castle hotel in the small town of Regent. I took a little road trip to check it out! Also checked out some personal favorites along the way (shoutout Salem Sue).

Scott Cramer has officially become the "Postcards from Buster" of my adult life.
Except all the postcards are from North Dakota
Yes
i meannnn yea
Omg ues
Never was a truer statement written!!! 👏🏿
Scott liked being a father so much he decided to become a dad for his entire audience
the hide and seek in frame, dora the explorer style "can you see me?" A+ dad stuff
Not sure how I think of having a dad younger than me but I'll keep him 😂
It truly sounds so corny, but watching your videos makes it so easy to like fall in love with the world again, you know? You make me appreciate the little things that are so easy to overlook.
felt this
So wholesome!
So real
you're right, that does sound corny
Man this video made me realize how often I hear people tear down their home. I'm almost used to people going "oh it's horrible here and I hate it" and I know they don't necessarily hate it that much but listening to Scott loving his home and state and focusing on this little piece that gives him joy and letting me - half a world away - enjoy it as well. Damn that is like holding your face up to the sun.
Here is a stellar Scott video.
Scott being proud of where he's from and wanting to showcase it is the most wholesome thing in the world. In a world negativity, and hate and debauchery and seflishness being praised, Scott your channel continues to be a beacon of hope for me. Never change your perspective, never get jaded, always see the good in people and you will go far. Love you brother. Sorry if that's weird, but I genuinely have love for your content and who you are as a person. Thanks for this.
True, it felt comforting like I was there too
i agree 100%!
That’s nice.
i've never been to usa, but this video filled me with so much joy. seeing you explore your home country, your home state, with this childlike wonder is just... magical. makes me think about how there's still so much to see and explore in my own country, how you don't have to travel far to make great memories and have wonderful experiences. thank you for this absolutely amazing video!
where you from?

Fellow North Dakotan here! I have lived in North Dakota my whole life, and just last year, I stayed at the Enchanted Castle for the first time. My family and I were the only guests and the owner went home at night so we played hide and seek in the dark throughout the whole building, and it was honestly the most fun I’ve had with them. Great memory. Thank you for sharing!
Imagine living in the inferior Dakota.
@@TheBigEggAneurysm Imagine living in the Dakota without Salem Sue. If you're gonna be in a Dakota, be with Salem Sue!
@@alteregobruh Imagine living in the Dakota without a Corn Palace.
@@TheBigEggAneurysm Jokes on you, I don’t live in EITHER Dakota. I live in a place with normal sized cows and normal corn! If I HAD to live in a Dakota, it’d be Salem Sue. That’s better than corn any day. It’s a giant cow like WHAT that’s so funny and cool.
@@alteregobruh Who doesn't live in a Dakota.
We all felt it when you said “I’m so full of joy”
Never change Scott
Scott's really bringing light to the few things you can do in North Dakota
6*
i went to north dakota (bismarck) once for a business trip and asked the locals what there is to do in town and they said to go to the museum at the capital building lmao
I just love his enthusiasm for everything he does.
Doing the Lords work! Never thought ND would be so cool 😄
And he has covered all of them by now
I don’t understand why I keep tearing up throughout this video. It feels like I’ve been hanging out with a friend. Thank you, Scott.
As a fellow Midwesterner, it is great to see someone as wholesome like Scott showcase that we are more than just flyover states. I loved his hometown festival video from last year and this one very much gave me the same wonderful sweet vibes.
I feel this. I live in Indiana and I'm so proud to call the Midwest home.
this video was so fun to watch and i’m glad i’m not the only midwesterner who really enjoys the scenery we have
Scott manages to make short solo trips seem so much fun and I absolutely want to go on one now
Do it! I've driven cross country 3 different times. I've actually seen the cow and Buffalo on my search of "worlds largest" things 😂
I thought there was nothing to do in North Dakota, yet Scott seems to find so many things to do in North Dakota and that surprises me every single time
Facts lol
hes doing more for the state's PR and image than the state government
It's youtube
@@BrokeButLaughing what does that have to do with anything? Lmao
@@PawsandRec Same, I also want to know what they meant by that
As an Iowa native that went to college in South Dakota, watching Scott’s videos, especially this one, just gives me such a warm and nostalgic feeling that I can’t get from any other creator. Scott, you are a gem of the Midwest.
Scott's managed to become even more like a camp counsellor.
Ahhh once again Scott is here to remind me/us that this relentlessly painful life IS worth living; there are sculptures to make, and if not, hopefully some to visit :} thank you for sharing your positivity with us
Shout out to Scott for now having more subscribers than there are people in North Dakota
I thought this was a joke 😭 that’s absolutely wild
+
You know, I’ve been severely depressed for the past four years, and it’s made me a lot more pessimistic than I ever used to be. Watching you find so much joy in the little things in life fills me with a sense of hope for myself and the world that I don’t think I’ve felt in a long time. Thank you for sharing this piece of your home state, Scott ❤️
When he said “this has no business being this enjoyable” I was weirdly enough thinking the same thing about the video.
Scott has a wonderful way of making me care about things I usually wouldn’t have cared about. Wonderful video, as always.
This video has the same vibe as me trying so hard to convince all of my friends that NO REALLY INDIANA IS GORGEOUS! Have you ever seen their cornfields at sunset?? No? Well we should go vacation there it’s beautiful!
Edit: also, the enchanted highway seems cool AF.
Indiana is awesome!
@@ScottCramer Okay RIGHT THOUGH!?!
this video made me tear up. there’s so much constantly going on and everyone’s so obsessed with moving to the next thing, that we ignore the beauty that surround us. thank you so much for sharing ur home, it makes me want to explore mine some more.
me too. im sitting here feeling like i need to get up and appreciate where im at. i almost cried too my friend
The more you lean into the genuine earnestness of your life, family, and home, the better your videos get Scott. Thanks for sharing
I collected stamps in a "passport" along The Loneliest Highway (hwy 50) and the Nevada Transportation department sent me a certificate with my name on it! It really made a kinda boring roadtrip into something fun! Traveling is great and Scott has a wonderful attitude
The geese and grasshoppers were my favourites, love the lines and patterns as well as them just being beautiful. All of the art shown in this video was amazing, the time and effort this took, not just making the pieces but to transport and ground them at their respective spots...is mind-boggling. Big applause to Gary Greff, the artist and the group of people that must have helped him and, of course, thank you to Scott for showing me art I wouldn't have seen if it wasn't for this video.
This really makes me miss Louisiana, an art museum in Humlebaek, Denmark.
There's a very, very small town (population 20) in Texas called Oatmeal, when my friends came in from NYC we drove out to the giant metal oatmeal can and they loved it 😎
The town down the road, Bertram, has had a metal artist living there for decades. He placed his art all over town since he kept running out of space in his studio. It's even in people's lawns!
It makes me really happy to see outsider art being appreciated - there's something special about art you can only see if you physically go to it.
I hope I can go visit this highway someday.
I’ve never been to the Midwest but this gives me such nostalgia…
As a child I lived in a very small city and there were so many interesting things in small cities.
Now that I live in a big city, and one that’s a tourist destination, it feels empty, especially since anytime anyone tries to make something neat it gets vandalized or removed.
Went to my local art museum a few days ago with a couple buddies and had a blast, no matter how bad you might think where your living is, I promise there is beauty there somewhere and Scott does a great job demonstrating that in his videos.
Seeing Scott appreciating the beauty of nature and art is exactly what I needed today! Wonderful video!
I’ve been a subscriber and patron of Scott for about 3 years because I love his content, but I got to say that I think this is my favorite video he has made so far. The video just gives off such wholesome energy, and it makes me want to look for the fun and interesting things in my home state.
I love how much Scott loves ND. Watching the footage, it is him having so much fun that really carries the experience
Scott’s positivity and just wholesomeness is why I subbed. Dude is just a pleasant watch.
Scott have you realized that by showcasing this highway made to save the town of Regent (and other state attractions), you may be inherently saving North Dakota?
I also live in North Dakota and I love this video! There’s something to be said about appreciating where you are, and what you have.
The State of North Dakota should just put Scott in charge of tourism marketing.
It would be really fun to take a road trip with someone like Scott who has an appreciation for all these wholesome down home things and a generally upbeat attitude!
I can only imagine the amount of work (editing especially!) that goes into your videos, Scott, but please know I, for one, appreciate the heck out of your dedication. This trip, in particular, was a real treat and gave me a lot of joy. Thank you, thank you!
I'm from Minneapolis and my grandma lives in Dickinson so i made many trips past the enchanted high way (with a lunch stop in Fargo at space aliens and always getting gas at Salem sue). This video is such a brain blast back to those childhood road trips, so glad you gave it the attention and love it deserves!
Scott is the sweetest most genuine person I watch he's so enthusiastic about the simple things love it you're awesome scott
Scott you are just such a beacon of positivity in a world without it. Thank you for all the content.
few things hit as hard as sitting down to eat dinner and being blessed with a 30m struggler video
Ok why is the outro making me cry tho, Scott's pride in his home state is so cute. Thanks for sharing with us and making us all try harder to appreciate our current surroundings.
Scott is the official golden retriever commentary youtuber
Yes!
One may compare him to PBS
This is one of the sweetest videos I’ve ever seen. You’re so full of joy and it’s contagious!
It always lightens my mood when Scott uploads
Scott's videos like these where he visits little events and places make me so happy. They genuinely remind me how great the little things are
Extremely wholesome. Please never let go of your inner child. God bless you and your family.
As a North Dakotan, who has visited these monuments many times, that has since moved to the east coast, thanks so much for this video! This has brought back so many wonderful memories of road trips I had with my parents with a kid. For some really weird reason our track has a tradition when driving to Bismarck for the state track meet we stop at the Bison in Jamestown and take a team photo, then for good luck everyone on the team has to touch the testicles while the whole teams chants “touch the nut!” And think you for reminding me of that!😂 Also the artist Mr. Greff was a 5th and 6th grade teacher in my hometown. Last time I drove the enchanted highway with my family Fisherman’s dream was still under construction, gonna have to make a road trip next time I visit NoDak.
I just wanna say thank you Scott for this content. I had a really rough day, and this video gave me some comfort. You are one of my comfort content creators. I wish you and your family all the best!
I dont know you but I hope your day improves and you can work through what life throws at you
The "Maze of Enchantment" is made out of sheet steel "skeletons", a laser cutter at some metal fabrication shop has cut out parts from a solid sheet, and what is left of the sheet is the "skeleton" which is scrap. Pretty neat and confirms a lot of it is made out of recycled junk, which makes it even cooler.
This was just a really nice video to watch. Watching someone have genuine fun by just looking at nature and some fun art improved my mood by about 75%
His videos like this make me so happy. I grew up in south eastern New Mexico, where it’s a bunch of dairies, farms, oil drills, and endless endless nothing. Similar to North Dakota. Seeing him show the fun that places like these have makes me so happy because they remind me of home. Thank you for the heart warming video Scott
I love how happy you are in your home state. And how proud you are to live there. It’s very refreshing and it made me happy.
As a North Dakotan, I love Scott just absolutely appreciating it here. And also bragging about living in such a small state is the most North Dakotan thing to do. People either hate it or love it here and I’m very much one of the people that love it here
Can always count on a Scott video to fill me with joy and whimsy. Thanks for sharing your wonderful state with all of us :)
Whimsy is a perfect word for these videos!!
One of the things that sets you apart from most other content creators is that you are proud of where you are from and didn’t flee your home to LA or NY at the first possible moment to only refer to where you are from with disgust. It says a lot about who you are and it’s frankly refreshing.
This reminds me of a small town in Illinois called Casey
Similar backstory, it's a town in the middle of nowhere that was dying, so some guy decided to build a bunch of massive stuff in the town.
I've been there twice, and the scale of some of these things is insane.
Anyways, I haven't heard of this place before, but if I'm ever in the area, I'll be sure to check it out. Great video!
I love Casey! Not only is it an incredibly unique town, but it's also very beautiful in its own right! The landscaping is lovely, a lot of the houses have such charming architecture, there are adorable little shops, boutiques, and cafes!
Plus Richard's Farm is such a good restaurant! The whole ambiance speaks to my soul
This is such an underrated video. Literally would’ve never known this was out there! Scott really went on a road trip by himself to show us something we would’ve never seen like??
Also the fact that this is such a wholesome video it brightened my day I’m glad this popped up
I never thought I would feel so much joy and emotion from watching a stranger explore a state I have no connection to and yet, these North Dakota related videos by Scott have become some of my favorite videos to watch. They just make me so calm and happy and makes me want to explore my own home state just like him 🥹
Beautiful video. As a Brit it kinda amazes me how much random local culture there is in the US. I'd love to visit this area someday!
4:00 in and it's already so dang wholesome. Cute interactions with strangers like these are the best.
This is by far my favorite Scott video, and I'm not even done with it. The sheer joy he expresses and how ecstatic he is to share that joy with everyone. And we're special enough to be included ❤
This is so touching :) As a southwesterner you've sold me on the enchanted highway. I have so many fond memories of taking road trips with my dad. I'm currently pregnant with my first child and I would love to take them here once they're old enough to enjoy it and make their own memories!
I’m a fellow North Dakotan, born and raised! I recently found your channel and had no idea you were from ND, it was quite a shock when I found out you are from here! It makes me appreciate your content even more, thanks for doing what you do 💕 congrats for you and your family btw💕💕💕
Ngl I got a bit teary at the end there. Something about seeing someone having so much love and appreciation for their home fills me with so much joy 🥲 we could all do a little more of this!
aaaah im from saskatchewan canada, about 500 km north of the nd border, and i moved away from home for the first time this year. this made me so homesick, especially the sunset footage, but in the best way. prairie sunsets truly are their own beast, you can't find them like that anywhere else. i love that you're showcasing this part of the world, it deserves some appreciation bc it really is beautiful.
Man I've been wanting to move to North Dakota for years. You make it more inviting every time I watch a video of yours.
Why would you want to move here I’m always bored out of my mind 😂
@@LR_Kickss because the weather seems better than North florida. I'm from the Upper Midwest I'm used to boring as long as I got good internet speed and cool breezes I'm solid.
@@CiphecDec yeah it’s probably also boring cause I have like no friends 💀
This is an all time good vibes video. You just can’t watch this without having a smile on your face
been having kind of a bad day, but seeing Scott get so happy about metal sculptures really lifted my mood
As a Nebraskan with nerd parents the major roadside attractions my family always went to were historic homesteads. I’ve stopped at so many homesteads, and they never get old
My family for generations have lived in small towns and I can’t ever see myself living in a big city. The charm and community in small towns is something to be cherished and I’m grateful to you, Scott, for showing that.
The ND content makes me so happy!! I grew up in western ND and we all know this place can be a little hellhole sometimes, but our array of giant statues never fails to make me laugh and warm my heart. Geese in flight is always how I know I’m almost home
I love the videos where Scott is just having fun and having such a nice time with things most people would find mundane. It's so wholesome~
Scott I love these videos about your home state and the things you love to do. They're so comforting! I ended up roadtripping through ND on my way to a new job in Canada, and was way to excited to see a Space Aliens bar and grill. I also spent the whole time looking at licence plates while driving. Thank you for sharing your passion for your home!
Your highways are so straight. In the pnw they wind all over because of the mountains. So interesting to see. If I’m understanding correctly this guy is still kicking around? Amazing art, reminds me of visiting Montana and seeing a Smithsonian of the west museum with stuff like this. The small stuff created by normal folks is always magical to me. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, Scott Cramer is still alive!
that conclusion was really lovely! one of my favorite things about you is how much effort you put into sharing niche North Dakotan things!! the quality of your effort really shows
Hahah Scott you are just the most wholesome!!! “I’m behind the little grasshopper” cracked me up! But as an albertan 🇨🇦 I can respect and just see the joy in you exploring your similar flat farm landscape!
The wholesomeness of Scott in this video and his pure joy exploring his home state literally made me cry and want to go take some time to explore the cool out of the way stuff in my own state :')
I love how much Scott loves North Dakota it’s so pure and genuinely makes me want to visit so I can experience the same joy
I’m an almost 47 year old mother of 3 and it’s been a goal of mine since I was about 7 years old to visit all 50 US states. By November of 2022 I had been to 48 states and only had 2 states left to complete this goal. On November 14, 2022 I made my way through West Virginia which left North Dakota as the only state I had yet to visit. Then on the evening of November 16th 2022 I rolled into Fargo North Dakota just past 9:30pm finally finishing one of my biggest childhood dreams! Visiting all 50 States.
It was snowy AF which made for a fun adventure driving the remaining portion of my trip from Washington, DC to Oregon via North Dakota but it was amazing. My only regret is that I need to go back during the late spring through early fall so I can get another opportunity to visit more of this amazingly beautiful and underrated state!! Also, South Dakota is pretty badass as well. I went there in August while driving across country from California to Washington DC. I highly recommend visiting both Dakotas but the sweeping winds across the snowy plains of North Dakota will always be one of my favorite memories. I’m glad I saved one of the best for last. ❤
scott's joy for simple things is so infectious😊
As someone who moved to Fargo, ND, and been loving it for four years, the enchanted highway is truly a magical and feverish dream
I'm driving through KS and i was also looking for weird things to do - Lucas, KS has the world's largest museum of smallest versions of largest things - so like 'the world's largest ball of yarn' stuff, but miniature versions
I simply love Scott. Such a wonderful example of how powerful positivity is.
My boyfriend and I are visiting his family in ND and I was ecstatic to drive past all three Space Aliens locations yesterday. Now today I see the Enchanted Highway and you upload a video about it an hour later???
I lived in Fergus Falls Mn for two years about 38 years ago. We used to go to Fargo to shop at the mall. I now live in Kansas. Not much of a difference in landscape actually. I do appreciate the weather here much better though. Soooo much more!
This is the wholesome content we need in this day and age. 🥰
like a relaxing PBS program but with incredible cinematography,, the ND videos are a gem!
I never really am like “YES! This is a topic I want to watch a video about!” But I should just trust Scott, never let’s me down
Anti-clickbait
I totally agree by the way
I want to live here, this place looks beautiful to me and so long as they have high speed internet i'm sold! Thanks for showing me this!
This has gotten to the point where Scott is the symbol of North Dakota. 😂
Just over here giggling... Your sense of joy and wonder in all things simple and silly is heartwarming. The artwork of each sculpture was stunning but it's the simple wonder you found in your solo trip that was beautiful to watch. And I love that you stopped at each one again on your way home, lol. "Sometimes you just gotta start stopping"... Well said ❤️ Awesome video. Thank you so much for sharing with us!! Much love
Gotta say I would love a whole series about you going and seeing things like this all over North Carolina and even if no one else wants that I would watch every video you make! I just like the warmness of it all
As a Californian it’s really fun watching Scott’s series of Midwestern treasures, it reminds me of parts of central ca and like Scott said, the flat land and big fields are so beautiful, it’s nice to see
This is my favorite of your videos I have seen, possibly ever. The childlike joy with which you experienced these seemingly mundane things made me so happy and I truly truly enjoyed the entire experience you portrayed. I laughed out loud and felt so much freedom with you, as I watched. I hope those moments of solitude and wonderment propel you forward into more and better. Wishing you all the best. 💚
Thank you for this sweet video topic. I'm dealing with my dad's abrupt death and I'm desperately in need of this kind of cuteness.
Scott's simple pleasures/Americana videos just make me happy
this video made me cry happy tears. as a midwesterner and as a man who remains with his boyish wonder. thank you, Scott❤️
As a Jersey boy, you've actually given me an appreciation for North Dakota. I've visited there twice over the past two years (each time always making sure to wear my Strugglr t-shirt for airport travel 😜), and I've fallen in love with the state and its people. I've only seen the western/central/northern areas of ND, but it's certainly beautiful.
I love how wholeheartedly you love things and show how excited you get for seeing simple attractions or restaurants like it just makes me happy and it's so wholesome :)
It's a bit of a drive from where you are, but there's a pretty sizeable Dalecarlian horse in Minot at the Scandinavian Park you might like
Just visited ND on the opposite side of the state from you at Theodore Roosevelt NP and decided to drive along the Enchanted Highway on our route home because of you. Added a little interest to our trip before the next many hours driving South through nothingness in South Dakota and Nebraska.
