    For those wondering why Doug just called the river, Aces and Kings beat him with some weird A8s preflop bluffs. (6+6+2 combos) while AQ (8 combos). When Alex bet 3/4 he's representing AQ+ and not a weak Queen. If he x/r he would fold out AQ against a thinking player who realizes that worse hand for value is AQ.

    • @Womenandwine
      @Womenandwine 3 місяці тому

      I think beginners can somewhat understand the reasons you stated of why he called , but they might not understand the reasons he checked the River. I’m assuming to induce bluffs , also Alex could have checked back Aa,Kk in turn for pit control and obviously made two pair , and Charles could be in there with a rare 8-9,8-10 hand. Though should be rare and only the heart variety and maybe the diamond variety for back door potential

      Nah, any KK or AA would bet on turn to prevent two opponents from drawing him out. You're way wrong in your analysis here mate. The second 8 doesn't change much for an AA or KK hand so if you're holding that hand and are afraid of a turned straight then you should check river as well. Considering Alex checked turn he hasn't got a straight obviously and considering he's betting river he still doesn't have a straight. So logically he has a good Q or 89 or possibly T8. Given it's Alex most likely he holds AQ here, which he did.

      A-A,k-K, or A-Q. Are all the exact same hand in Alex’s shoes.

    I don't get people who raise when it's checked back to them on the river unless they have near-nuts. It's like the only reason you'd raise is a bluff to get them to fold.
    In this case, you raise but you only get a call or maybe worse, a raise, if they can beat top pair. I mean if Doug has bottom pair or junk, he's folding. So you get nothing from the raise. If Doug has an 8, two pair, another set, a full boat, he either calls or raises and yer screwed.

      It is to break your opponents balance range. Even if, let's say, 80% of the times is a bluff or a hand that you can beat, and 20% is the nuts or a hand that you can't beat, people will take those river raises personally after it was checked around the flop and the turn in a 3 way pot.
      Then, once that happens people start either tighting their ranges and playing only nuts to get their chips back or start blasting off with not so premium hands in an attempt to stack you as well.
      Think about it, most people can't take more than 1-3 beat hands in a row to a certain opponent. So if you can get one of those to go through as a bluff and the rest are nutty hands, then you can get paid.
      Regardless, this could have gone uglier if Doug Polk raised, then Alex shoved then Doug goes into a torturous tank, and then he would be berating himself for just not calling because he must have an 8 why would he raise. However, at that point Doug Polk would have been pot committed and then maybe he makes thinks worse, things too long and then folds costing him more than winning a pot by calling the $35,000 instead of folding to an all-in.
      On this hand Doug decided to play it safe by not betting the turn or the river which am not sure if it was the most optimal move. I think if he bet on the turn he could have gotten another bet, and maybe the river was a 80% bet of the original river. You can tell Doug's thinking at the end when he flickered that river call thinking that if somehow Alex binked an 8 then that would have been his reward for playing top 2 pair slows.

    Just a warning to anyone in the state of Georgia do not play online poker at ACR or ignitioncasino. Both are dogshit ACR has active cheaters/ a cheating scandal going on and ignition is just filled with the worst players ever and with no way to take notes on the nits you’ll never know when you’re on a table with them again! Just lost a 215$ tournament to someone jamming 500bbs into a 8 bb pot with top set of aces when I flopped middle set. That’s the type of shit that’s gonna happen on ignition and ACR is a lost cause bc they literally have no ambition to stop the cheating as long as money continues to roll in. Georgia is easily the worst state in the US for poker and the lawmakers here would rather you lose to cheaters then just allow you to play on more reputable sites such as poker stars and gg poker. It’s honestly disgusting to live in this hick ass state as soon as I can Pennsylvania and poker stars here I come 🙏
