last time i went to a show a douche started crowd killing, he got beat up by three people before being throw out of the pit, justice served

My friends and I have this pact. Here in the north west has a bunch of hardcore and core kids. They go to metal shows and do this. Not hardcore or deathcore shows but metal shows. What we do is we go to metal shows and do funny things in the mosh pit, ya know actual missing and friends having a good time and making sure everyone is safe. Once in a blue moon one of these core kids will come to a show and do their karate in the pit to hit people, and we jump in and mosh with them. But very violently and fast. Normally resulting in them being thrown across the room. We did this at a gwar show and the guy who was crowd killing was so mad he left.

Story time, I was at a show fuck idk the band even now, it was in a tiny ass venue with no stage just a small drum rise and rest of the band was on the floor, it was a mix of hardcore and thrash and some emo kid and his friends start doing some lame ass pit karate, well buddy hit the wrong dude, he throws his arm back and smashed some huge drunk thrasher in the face and makes him spill his beer, what happened next I will never forget he didn't punch him, no he picked the emo kid up above his head holding him across like a board and just tossed the kid at the drum kit, he hit the little rise so barly moved the kit but the look on the drummer's face was priceless. I saw no more pit karate that night lmao.

A month ago I saw my first metal show in a gas station parking lot, and a pit formed. It was all normal until there was only 2 girls in the pit. They started literally twerking in it and laughing while making fun of the music and everyone surrounding the pit was giving them a death stare. They left after that.
Those who do karate in the pit shall be disposed.

The only way to prevent hardcore dancers is to push them around until leave, they HATE real physical contact, u might get punched in the face but itll be worth it when theres a real pit going on later in the set

3:48 I have once seen a guy doing gymnastics in the pit and he was chill, he didn't go to fight anyone, he just danced like anyone else and before he did his gymnastics he warned other people to keep out. Not all hardcore dancers who go into the mosh pit to dance and have fun are jerks

Crowd killing is absolutely never ok, but if it's an actual hardcore or metalcore show I go to hardcore dance, two step etc as it's been part of the scene since the beginnings in the 80s, as seen in plenty of videos and Sick Of It All's Step Down video and it can definitely be done safely if people are respectful of each other. If I go to any metal show I go to mosh. Two different scenes (albeit with crossover) and I prefer it if they both keep their own style.

From what I understand, today's moshing originated from anarchists moshing at punk shows as a way of toughening each other up to fight fascists- or something like that... I read that out of a book about antifascism... It was a while ago, but it was something like that.

Okay so after I googled it, it apparently started in the 1980's punk subculture in California around the time fascist punks started showing up in gangs at shows throwing up Hitler salutes instead of applauding and beating up fans. So punk took a very antifascist direction and moshing developed as a result of these fascists being unwelcome and fighting outside the music scene became a thing. This explains the lyrics to Nazi Punks Fuck Off by Dead Kennedys.

I agree that people probably shouldn’t do this at a metal show where people prefer to run in circles and shove each other but most of these videos are from hardcore shows and the people at these shows know what’s up and they do anything because that’s probably their friend or they know the person and know it’s all in good fun
