i've calculated and made a list, i have about a 2 year backlog of games, and i have vowed to get it done, and with the money i will save for the next 2 years i'm gonna take a flight to somewhere tropical...
Yeah. There is so many games in backlog that i have no clue what to play, so i do something else instead. lol I still won't buy less games for that reason. lol
The problem is that people buy a lot of "nice to own" games on PC, and they buy games so often you will keep forgetting what you bought in the past. I partially solved this problem with forgetting purchased games. I set up 2 different categories in Steam library, so i can see all games i forgot from in recent years. This way i can check forgotten games bought last 2 years for example, or even see games i forgot i bought last month. ;)
And we don't have to keep re-buying all of our games over and over each "generation" so the collection just keeps building. Thankyou for the thoughtful video.
I have been trying to complete a nice chunk of my backlog this year - I find prioritising games by most anticipated helps. I have a lot of games in my Steam and GOG wishlists, but I seldom buy many games in a sale as know doubt they will be featured in the next big sale (unless they are delisted). I claim games on Epic as well, but because they are free I prioritise them less (I may add the odd Epic game onto my prioritised backlog depending on how interested I am in the title).
Every week is another enticing game sale or bundle. Many of these games take over 30 hours to beat so backlog only gets bigger as always busy with work or life. But im okay with it. Now i got huge variety of games so i can load up whichever franchise or game genre im interested in on any particular date.
This a bit helps because like, even as of now im struggling with game's that i have ,alot of them and some i collect to add like in collection whether in the future i would play them,or just buy then especially in high discounts because and because it may seem cool Another thing is,we'll it may sound selfish but i have most games story mode, off line like games and what not,and i dont play much online games truly and oart of me wants to be famous but truthfully speaking, i just wanna play and play, thays all there is to that really. Like just enjoy it without feeling i missed out,or whether some people play said different games online or not and just enjoy it at my own pace,or time for thar matter
Before watching this video, I had almost 100 games installed on my PC. I'm the kind of gamer that can't stick to one game for too long, so I nailed it down to 3 games to play and now I only buy one game on every sale. One multiplayer game to play with friends. One long game. One short game. Now I'm able to finish games and always have something to play. Thanks.
Wow I thought I had a big list of games... That's one huge library you got there. I could be finishing my games, but man, I'm hooked on this one gacha game I've been playing recently. If I'm not busy with school, work, or gacha games and at night if I have the time, I try my best to make progress on my Steamdeck.
I know exactly when it started for me, October 1999! That's when I bought Jet Force Gemini for the N64. Been building for the last 25 years! Mostly Steam and GOG these days!
I have an endless list of free site links (no need to quote them I think most people can easily guess who I'm talking about!) and yet I still haven't downloaded this games. For met I can't play only one game for several days, I risk getting bored, that's why I regularly play 2 games at the same time, of completely different styles, to avoid boredom.
The thing is and you said it "not enjoying" the game or in my case "learning curve" getting into the game. I have to go through 5-10 games before I find the game that I really want to play. Not saying the previous games I played were bad just perhaps "not in the mood for them" or time investment is too great right now. Also FOMO is real when a new game drops you need to be playing that game or else you will have FOMO
I have a special case. I have a special interest in certain genres in kind of games I want to play. Mostly gangster games and certain Open world titles. I get very picky these days. Those would be the games that if I hear would come not, I would wishlist and get with no hesitation especially if its a niche genre. I would wait for a peculiar game that really interest me and I know I'm going to play once I get it to play it.
I still haven't brought one yet. I keep telling myself to wait something more powerful, but all of these handhelds keep coming out with the same chip set.
The more you spend the more you save :P As a console gamer I have a lot of places to go also, Gamestop, Walmart, Amazon, eBay, Best Buy, PSN not enjoying a game??? What is that, is that possible?
All my games are digital now and I have lots of 'em so the backlog is real But for me this is more of a first world problem, better to have too many options than too little 😁
Here is some advice from my personal side 1.) Is the title any good 2.) Do you really need to buy this game 3.) Do not listen to friends who ask you to play a game if you buy it (usually become forgotten in shadow) I spend my own time with Commander & Conquer Zero Hour, Divinity 1,2 or Yugioh Master Duel.
I was going to prioritize my list, but I always try to avoid looking for a guide. Spoilers don't make me feel good, and changing the difficulty is another thing I can't do. I grew up when games forced you to get good, or you quit. I never quit.
before buying a new game, just play and end the actual game you current playing, and never download every game you want to play, you will not finish one game because you will jump to the other game as fast as possible.
These "tips" are REALLY harmful to the enjoyment of this hobby. I have a huge backlog, and last year I was doing all the things you are recommending here: consulting forums and walkthroughs instantly upon facing the slightest obstacle, doing only the main quest, etc. (because I was trying to "get through my backlog"), and to be honest, this is THE FASTEST ROAD TO BURNOUT. How do you not see that "trying to get through the backlog" is an absurdly backwards and absolutely fun-destroying attitude to adopt towards a hobby? You are treating this HOBBY like it's your house chores. Games are meant to be enjoyed to the exact extent you naturally feel is adequate; not to be rushed and then crossed out the list to grab the next one. To anyone who is reading, I say: don't EVER follow this advice if you love this hobby and don't want to start dreading it. Instead of this guy's depressing philosophy, you should see your backlog as HUGE POTENTIAL FOR FUN. Simply enjoy the abundance of options you have and the freedom it gives you, accept that you'll NEVER play everything you want to play, and just pick one game from your collection guided exclusively by what you feel like playing at the moment, and play that game in a "stopping to smell the flowers" way. Bask in all its gorgeous vistas, enjoy the gameplay and the story and try very hard to solve any puzzle and overcome any obstacle WITHOUT looking for walkthroughs or advice online. Do this and you'll thank me dearly.

Everytime i look at my back log i got overwhelm and just go back to youtube 😅
Man everytime I look at it I get overwhelmed and watch a movie instead haha 😆

Breaking up the games into short lists is a great tip. I am going to start doing that. Thanks for the video, man!

LOL - GUILTY AS CHARGED!
(I won't even share my Collection count... I don't dare 😳)
Wise words👏👏👏
There is always FOMO of games delisted from digital stores
I have an endless list of free site links (no need to quote them I think most people can easily guess who I'm talking about!) and yet I still haven't downloaded this games.

Hey what ever works for you
Just seeing other people stream scrolling infinitely down gives a bit of anxiety LOL

If they even offer it again.
Poll: Are you less likely to buy new games (published this year) when you have a backlog?
The Steam Deck will help you finish older games, they maybe look outdated in you 4k/1440p screen, but look really crisp on Steam Deck smaller screen.
I still haven't brought one yet. I keep telling myself to wait something more powerful, but all of these handhelds keep coming out with the same chip set.
@@ShandellJames Maybe is better to wait for a Steam Deck 2, probably 2026.

Doom eternal Still with less than 30 mins.

Me when I worked before doing sports
Don't forget the free games we get too. If you count console I have around 30,000 games both played and unplayed.

The American accent 😂😂😂❤❤❤
500gb hard drive is to blame and the 1t drive.
Solution: Get a Steam Deck.
Then tell myself it's for studying a language..
You can solve your pc game problem easily, sell your pc and don't look back
This is why I refuse to register for steam and epic games
Cause I keep buying them
