If you don't know what the terminal is, is a portal to hell
Hahaha
Wait... You have a blackberry?
Did you know that if you drop a blackberry on an apple, the blackberry is more likely to get squished? But if you drop an apple on a blackberry, the blackberry will be totally juiced. The names of these companies were just prophecies

That and I also saw apt was borked from a previously unfinished install, which is why there was a warning to fix broken packages
And that's why it tells you to run apt update! That should fix it. And that's why the "full featured webcam app" or whatever that was worked. Who knows what on earth that guy just installed. And how are you supposed to use the camera without internet then?
You guys seriously need to get a sense of humor.
@@SirRandallDoesStuff humor has to make sense in a part, so the joke works (the part that doesn't make sense is the actual joke), problem is, in this case it doesn't make sense at all... I once tried Linux for a month to see what daily driving it would be like. It was super cool what the open source community has put together, but also so SO frustrating at times 😂.

The killers for me were lack of Microsoft Office (Libre Office felt hard to use and limited even after a month), lack of Adobe Acrobat of PDF work (or feature parity substitutions), and the lack of SolidWorks. I'm considering a Linux because I'm tired of my pc trying to undermine me. What's it like exactly? Can you play games on it, photoshop, are there any limits to it? Cheers.
@@WhiteFyre There are some games available for linux, for others you can play windows games with lutris and wine. And nowadays steam can run most windows games on linux and it's a godsend. There is no photoshop however, adobe dislikes linux or smth but you have decent alternatives. I recommend you start with a distro thats well supported and has driver support. Ubuntu and Manjaro are good, but Pop OS has my glowing recommendation, try that first it's very user friendly.
@@adaskalov Sounds pretty good. Thank you! 😊
@@BobDevV That was really helpful.
Thank you! 😊
@@WhiteFyre I recommend trying linux mint as it just worked with all my hardware because it has alot of firmware installed by default, cinnamon version(it's easier to configure settings than xfce)
The website protondb, has a rating list for compatability.
Word and photoshop are no goes, exept if you use a virtual machine, i recommend qemu and virt-manager for best perfomance. you would need atleast 4GB of memory to spare as windows uses 2GB without anything running
try finding alternatives to software on the website alternativeto
I game on linux for around 1 year so this is limited personal experience, i use lutris for non-steam games and steam's easy to use proton layer.
the general rule for gaming compatibility is that if it has anticheat you can't play it. And generally games requiring origin launcher or ubisoft launcher is a no go.
Csgo works, dota2 works, tf2 works, overwatch works, minecraft works and almost all indies work.
you can also game on a virtual windows machine if wine does not work, there is a guide on arch wiki(pci passthrough) if you dare it, i would not recommend it as a first try, i haven't tried as a have a sketchy oem pc.
I'd usually correct someone when they are new to Linux, but this was clearly a parody so..

(2:03) Sam, a lot of "dongles" are already available for that port.

(8:02) Look at the package name below and type that into the terminal, without the -(numbers) bit
@Pnylyck Jvanof HAT modules are the ready-made modules that attach to the Pi GPIO pins

Hello 👋
@@System64-Fumo
yo amir what's up?
I run some Debian Linux servers and I love those videos that show the final users frustrations when using it.
It was funny to see you struggle with the easiest desktop class operating system 😂
Do you mean out of all versions of Linux, or are you just mentally unstable?
kde and gnome are far more friendly in my opinion but for people who only has ever used a phone I'd recommend gnome. windows users would feel at home on cinnamon.
That was so funny, when he said " If you dunno what terminal is, it's a portal to hell"😅😂😂
Imagine if Crocodile Dundee announced the next MacBook:
- Mick! Give him the wallet!!
- What for???
- He's got a MacBook!
- Haha! That's not a MacBook, THIS is a MacBook!
Love the 2nd movie when he doesn't need any iPhone - he already got his own "phone" to call with 🥰
"If you make a typo, your computer won't turn back on" is literally Linux in a nutshell. And I'm a seasoned Linux user...who was still able to lock their own account out from Debian.
How did you do that. The only time my old debian broke was a partial upgrade from stable (then wheezy) to testing (then jessie)
Fedora has one-upped that by creating a distro that destroys itself by upgrading 😂
Ha ha! This is my actual desktop computer. You should have used Twister OS Sam, then you could even make the OS look like a Mac too.
I had a really good laugh at the "portal to hell" joke. I just love the ability and power this "portal to hell" gives you over your linux computer. I'm a fan so I'm biased. I mean, I get it, not all people enjoy the challenge of linux so they get IOS or windows. Just remember, when linux is installed on your computer - it's your computer and when it is win/IOS it's not your computer but theirs. Something to think about.
Somebody get this man a Tuxedo computer
installing packages without internet. wow you are a Linux wizard man.
Not sure if he realized this but
He wasn't connected to the internet when he was trying to install shit

On a serious note, install Manjaro linux KDE. It has everything you ever need.
I’ve never been one for kde, I prefer the stock xfce version or better yet open box
a few weeks ago I was trying to recover data from an old HD that had an old version of Ubuntu installed. somehow during the recovery process the computer went insane and booted from it. as soon as it did it bricked the WiFi card. when I realized what happened I was equal parts confused and impressed, because before that Windows couldn't even figure out that the thing had a WiFi card, let alone successfully murder it.
A really cool video would be comparing elementary os and mac os
Half of me is frowning at how you say everything is done in the terminal. The other half lost it at portal to hell XD
From my 15 GNU/Linux years experience, the terminal is your best friend. If you have doubt with the graphical user interface, it will always be there to save the day or just save your time. Just remember, it can't save you from your own incompetence. I think, it's kind of what this parody was all about. I kind of laugh a bit, at the end after witnessing the missing internet.
Watching you using Linux is so painful lol
I'd like to see Sam play with a Framework, the PROPER Linux Macbook Air

that was the most sarcastic (in a bad way) approach to introduce people to Linux. You didn't have internet to install the webcam capture package and blamed the OS for it, good job.

Use an external battery pack if you want a battery.
That would be way easier than most Windows and Mac laptops being sold today, where you have to take apart the laptop to get the battery out.
I expected it to be a normal laptop made by KDE that has Intel or Amd

This is more about Sam's incompetence than Linux's
He should really use a user friendly distro on supported hardware.
I've seen him use experimental supported Mac Linux and now a literal development board.
Not sure if you tried Linux mint on a cheapo not Mac laptop but it's a much better experience. No terminal required 90% of the time.

@@TheTallPalm Wow. Do you think that most people why try Linux for the first time find command line easy to figure out?
I have installed Linux at least 15 times on 4-5 different systems, and every time, I end up spending hours searching forums to find out why the internet or sound won't work, or the framerate is so low in a game, or how to install drivers for all my peripherals, etc.
After 10+ hours of frustration and seeing all the frustration of other in the forums, I end up going back to windows and hope that the process will be easier in the future.
Try asking people who have installed Linux for the first time how their experience was and how it compares to windows and see what they say.
I expect you will just call them all stupid, but if you are honest, Linux is not intuitive and easy to install and use.
As far as I'm concerned its as much hassle as working around apples quarks for the first time and I bet if I was to use windows for the first time after using mac OS it would be just as much a struggle. Hindsight from using macos for the first time gave me the knowledge to learn how to adapt and find different software, fixes, and solutions to issues.
You don't need the terminal for most things and if you expect to use linux without learning anything new your going to struggle just as I did learning my devices weren't supported and my applications didn't exist on macos. The biggest motivator to learn was how much I spent on the damn thing.
P.S. I had to use the terminal on macos to get some work done too. A little too minimal at times if you ask me.@@azrobbins01
