It was nice to see scarecrow village framed as it was intended. You made it seem very whimsical, while I've seen many others frame it as scary. Which is also undoubtedly true, but leaves out a big part of the story. So thank you!
I don't know how you guys do it, but you really make me feel like I am there with you. Not many UA-camrs manage that. So sad to see the abandoned houses and villages. But that was the first time anyone has made "The Scarecrow Village" seem alive. I really enjoyed Fuji San's studio it was totally fascinating. I should be an installation in an Art Gallery. Enjoy your adventures, cheers, Muffy from Oz (Australia)
Fascinating video - really got a sense of how isolated and remote things were. Also I have been watching content creators in Japan for years and this is the first time I have seen a Tanuki in the wild! I hope Fuji’s son wasn’t too traumatized at seeing Mama Dom! Great stuff.👍
You guys are so brave to walk on the vine Bridge! I can barely walk on a pier haha 😂 My favourite part of Japan are the random encounters with lovely people you meet who are so accomodating and friendly!
How do you guys not have more subscribers already? Of course I've seen these locations before but I like your and Dom's fresh perspectives on things. Especially the scarecrow village.
This is a fascinating video! Really interesting moments and thought provoking. Maybe could’ve been 2 videos to have time to digest all the vibes? Though I love an occasional long video too ☺️ What amazing memories you’re making! ✨
This is a brilliant video, thank you for sharing it guys. I loved the layout of his studio, especially with all those sofas and artwork, I imagine it makes for an amazing place to hear live music. It’s always great when you find a hidden gem like the experience you had at the sushi place, nice to see the kindness of others. Safe travels and best wishes to the two of you.
Thanks so much! This was definitely the highlight of our whole 3 months in Japan, it was epic meeting Fuji and his studio was mad! So much cool stuff, and then to meet even more sweet people further in the day - it's everything I wanted to experience in Japan! Thank you ☺️✨
What an adventure! Even though I live in Japan I have never yet had the chance to visit any remote abandoned villages. The 'destination' at 25:48 is almost definitely a soba noodle restaurant (そば i.e buckwheat noodles, on the curtains) complete with election poster. It even has very good reviews but opening hours seem to be very irregular. Usually in Japan, if the curtains are hanging in front of the door the shop is open, but in this case they were inside so it is most likely closed.
14:20 He came as part of an Amazon show "James May: Our Man In Japan" i found its definitely worth a watch if you get the chance if only the episode where he is in the abandoned village. Cheers for the amazing video.
I truly enjoyed this adventure. The scarecrow village. The vine bridge. Water fall was beautiful. Truly another fantastic video. Sending Love From SanDiego. Have Fun. Stay Safe. 😊
Love the off the path places. Absolutely amazing. Why does the scarecrow village feel like a setting for a horror movie??? I just imagine someone getting lost and others end up searching for them later to only find a scarecrow that looks like them from a distance. When they get closer they realized it's their friend whose mouth has been sewn shut and buttons sewn onto their eyelids with the face painted with a creepy smile.
Another highly entertaining video. Japan has such a unique beauty which is so different from the beauty I find in my part of 🇨🇦. It would be wonderful to visit one day.
Awww this video was just such a nice nostalgic watch!! My old high school has a sister school in Kochi and I went on exchange there/stayed with a host family back in the day… I’ve been to visit a few times since but it’s been over 5 years since I’ve last been to Japan and I miss Shikoku! Such a beautiful island. My host family ran a mechanic shop out Sakawa direction that was just full on on the side of a gorge, I remember sitting at the kotatsu just staring at that view for hours. Thank you for your lovely relaxing video! You both have a very calming presence in this one (I specify this one because nothing was calming about Dom in that cat onesie a while back 🤣). Also, make sure you grab some imokenpi while you’re there! The local specialty of Kochi - verrrry tasty 🤤
Awh that's so cool! It's a pretty magical place, was so sad to leave haha. And thanks haha, yeah Dom's a bit more chill in this one 😅 Ooh thanks, we'll try and find some!
That’s quite the adventure! I thought the vine bridge was pretty freaky, but I’d have to say getting lost was more so. So glad you were able to find that sushi place.
In shikoku the area called ehime is famous for their mikan (oranges). They are so famous for mikan that if you turn the tap water, mikan juice will pour out- a joke every time we are around someone from ehime 😆 glad to see you found a place to eat with friendly host and guests.
Omg when someone told us to visit Mississippi in Shikoku I had no clue it would be like this!! Gutted we missed out but very cool to see inside! 😲 Thank you for showing us the other bridges too! Loved seeing you squirm like us on them 😂 And there I was thinking the female bridge would be more sturdy 😂
If you go back that direction make a stop and say Emma and Dom said hey 😅 They are such a great family. Haha the bridges were pretty scary, idk how Dom was running along it like that 😂
great video that cafe and that artist you stumbled upon was a really cool find, I have seen other videos on the scarecrow village but I like seeing it from your guys perspective, the vine bridge was also nice to see despite its age it looked quite sturdy oddly enough, and even seeing get lost was fun and at least you found a nice sushi place with friendly locals, all in all an eventful trip to shikoku if you ask me
Awesome video. We're in Pgh, Pa USA. I've gotten lost many times. Very scary. But you always seem to find your way. Thank goodness. The art is amazing. My daughters and I went to the Andy Warhol museum and art festivals. It's neat to see how people interpret their Art 🎨🖌️🖼️ very creative. that hike would have killed me. Lol. I'll take the elevator lol thanks so much for sharing. I really enjoy watching your videos. Sweet couple. 💙❤️🫶🫶🌸🌸🌷🌷

Awesome stuff, such a great video. I really liked the artist, Fuji's studio, that place was *wild* ! I'm dying to know how a Sobeys/Compliments reusable shopping bag wound up on the other side of the earth in a Japanese artists studio!
Thank you! 💖 Ikr, his studio was mad, so much unique stuff that I haven't a clue how he got there - He had multiple vehicles imported from Mississippi, including a Beetle he'd graffitied all over! I'd love to go back down the line, such an interesting guy.
I have enjoyed this video a lot, what a lucky find - the whole family seemed so welcoming and wonderful. There was so much to look at, seemed like seeing his whole life later out around you. The scarecrow village is always a favourite to watch too! The vine bridges although cool, seem a bit terrifying ha! I’m a bit intrigued about that ramen vending machine Don read the review for 😂
I was so confused for a minute. You're Chris's sister, yeah? I totally thought you were Sharla for a hot second from the thumbnails! Glad to see you and hubby are enjoying Japan to its fullest! Cheers!
For sure, I love finding cool places unexpectedly! Getting lost is the best way to find them. And yeah Google maps really wasn't on our side this time... Not complaining though, had so much fun 😄
Nice vlog really it is! But please please use decent sized captions. I put on strong reading glasses & I still couldn’t read them & UA-cam would Caption your in video captions 😕

I know it’s scary to be lost, but I’m really glad you shared this because it’s a real experience anyone could have in Japan! ❤
I'm just glad it wasn't dark or it would've been terrifying haha

That's so amazing to hear, it's exactly what I aim to do, so thank you ☺️💕 We are loving exploring these wonderful places, Japan is full of surprises!
These videos are truly relaxing to watch! Keep up the great work!

Thankyou! Really didn't expect to see one, I guess we got really lucky haha. And luckily he was a fan of mama Dom 😅
Love your vlogs! Thanks so much! I loved seeing this part of Japan! Through the winding roads!🗾🗻🚐❤
A mixture of planned and random adventures always leads to a good time! Looks like a really interesting place!
So true! The unexpected surprises really make an adventure, and there's plenty of them in Shikoku 😅
I'm really enjoying your explorations of countryside Japan.
Awh thanks! 😄
You guys are so brave to walk on the vine Bridge! I can barely walk on a pier haha 😂 My favourite part of Japan are the random encounters with lovely people you meet who are so accomodating and friendly!

Awh thanks! It's so difficult to get a relatively new channel seen, hopefully more people that'll like the videos will get suggested them 🤞
YES YES YES!!! I love stories off the beaten path like this so much. Well done!
That collapsed road was so scary!!!
Ok and I would definitely be between awe and sh*tt*ng myself with that bridge, too!
On the edge of my seat (literally) to see if you finally find food and I DO NOT want to peek at the next chapter to potentially spoil it 🙈
PFFF the ASMR at the end BRILLIANT
Hahaha thank you and thanks for this commentary 😂
That was a fun adventure to watch, thanks for taking us along! 😊
Thanks for watching! ☺️💖
This really makes me want to go to Shikoku again and go rural, I've only experienced Takamatsu, Tokushima and Naruto!
We were mostly in Kochi, it was so remote but really beautiful!

One crazy journey. Omg those bridges don't look safe.
1). What a fascinating man, I bet he has some interesting tour stories. 2). No thank you for both “bridges”!

Hi there! To clarify: the 'raccoon dog' of 20:46 is NOT a tanuki, but is actually a Japanese badger! ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_badger ) 😁
It didn't have a white face though! Don't ruin my dream of seeing a wild tanuki 🥲😂
